Genetics

A recent study of the genetics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genealogical_DNA_test) of the people of Indian Punjab[2] (http://evolutsioon.ut.ee/publications/Kivisild2003b.pdf) (where about 40% or more of the population are Jats) suggest that the Jats are similar to other populations of the Indus Valley in terms of Y-snp groupings. Also Jats seem to share many common haplotypes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplotype) with German, Slavic, Baltic, Iranian and Central Asians [3] (http://www.yhrd.org/).Unusually, Jat groups share only two haplotypes, one of which is also shared with Turks (Turkey), and have no matches with neighbouring Pakistani populations (except Sindh). This haplotype shared between the two Jat groups may be part of the Indo-Aryan (or Indo-European) genetic contribution to these populations, where as the haplotypes shared with other eurasian populations may be due to the contribution of Indo-European Scythians (Saka, Massagetae), or White Huns. (These groups may of course all be branches of one larger ethnic complex.)
As for relationship between Croats, Ukrainians and Jats, they do seem to share haplogroups R1a1,J2 and R1b which are present in many Slavic populations, however Croats and Ukrainians also contain E and I haplogroups which are absent in Jats. Also their mtdna is completly different.
As to mtdna,Jats contain haplogroups typical of NW Indians, that is haplogroups typical of North India ,Pakistan and West Asia. This suggests that, at least for mtdna, there is very little connection with Central Asian or NW Europe populations; even though Jats share many male Y SNP markers with these populations.Hence this suggests that there has been male migration in or out of the Jat population in historical times.Alternatively, the formation of the Jat population may have occurred in West Asia or North India.

Question:

I would like to no where and how jats share common genetics with turks(turkey) this when i first saw was amazing to me.

Dear Steev,

Please read my new post in Chahar Iran connection. Here in Ireland and Uk i have noticed similarities between us and them minus the colour which may have got changed as a survival abvantage in India as the colour of sand in india is brown so in ancient times it may have helped to camouflege and in UK and Ireland since it was covered by snow in ancient times(now obviousely the planet is getting warmer each year) White colour was a survival advantage.

dear Steve
u say that the genetic sampling is of Indian Punjab(40% JATS AND60% NON JATS) SO the results can be misleading. Can u tell the genetics of pure jats blood samples. These results can give a far clear picture.

dear steve
First of all I would like to admit that I am not an expert in genetics,so my explanations may be faulty nevertheless they present an answer to ur querry.
Recent genetic findings have clearly established that movement of gene pool from Indus region to towards west.Y-SNP grouping show some connection with Indus people with whom they prephs lived in Indus valley.Further recording of Harppan genes at varios places assosiated with jats such as Xinjiang(Tamir basin) and east pamir shows inhabitance of these areas by jats since ancient times ofcourse Bacteria marghiana complex has been center of movement of many groups.
From the main gene pool of these three places movement further westward occured in various stages via different routes to different places giving birth to different nations at different times. with the movement genes pools changed to less varietis. Their contribution of gene pool to these nation gave these jat genes to these population. However a east ward movement of jats after along seperation period in tarim basin to indusvalley could have given rise to two groups.Tokhari jats(yueh zi) might have given birth(?) to Punjabi dialect so similar to tocharian language.
the consistency of mt-dna further suggests male population outward movment and spread of genes to Turkey etc.
