Akbar the Muslim Mughal ruler, made a treaty with the Jats of the Sarv Khap of Haryana in 1574 AD.

Akbar and his minister Todar Mal, the architect of his administration are signatories.

Under this treaty he agreed to stay away from and not interfere in the affairs of the Jats of the Sarv Khap (U.P, Braj, and Haryana).

The treaty was recorded in a copper plate, which is in the possession of the Sarv Khap record keepers at Shoron, Dist Muzzafarnagar.

Dr. BAL Kishan Dabas has included a photograph of the plate and a translation in his book:” the `Political and Social History of the Jats”, 2001, Sanjay Prakashan, New Delhi, and ISBN 81 -7453-045-2

It is available from D K Publishers, Ansari Road, Daryaganj, and New Delhi.

The Baliyan history

First I must say, that the Baliyans desrve a special place in the honour rolls of Jat history.

Thy acted as the hosts, and as the Mantri's to the Sarv Khap, from the head village at Shoron/Shoram in Muzzarfarnagar Distt UP.

I was a difficult task, performed with dignity, tact, diplomacy.

All jats owe this great clan their thanks.

For the history, go through the archives on this site, and the Yahoo Jat history group

Search for Baliyan, Sarv Khap, Bal

You will find plenty to keep you busy

Take care.
