Dear Members of this site specially who are living in or around New Jersey. The semi annual meeting of North American Jat Charities is being held on 10th December 2005 at "Crown Of India" restaurant at 660 Plainsboro Road, Plainsboro, NJ 08536; (609) 275-5707. The luncheon will be approximately $25.00 per person. Any member of the community whether he/she is member of the NAJC or not is welcome to attend the meeting. While you pay for your lunch the contribution to the NAJC is totally voluntary. Please do attend this meeting and you would know as to what our elite members are doing for the community. The detailed information about the meeting may be obtained from Mr. Harish Dhayal or can be seen at the web site www.ajata.org

It will be very nice if more members of the community attend such meetings and if they want to start any project can do so through NAJC so long it confirms to the constitution of the NAJC. Please call me or write to me if you need any further information.

I am pretty surprised that inspite of this post being for some time now, only 47 members have viewed it and no one has actually called or contacted me to confirm whether or not they would like to attend it this time. I only hope we have members encouraged by the purpose for which NAJC is working hard.

Tavathiaji,
I thought NAJC members were contacted by emails for confirmation. Lack of response to this thread doesn't mean that people aren't interested in this(Of course everyone appreciates NAJC's efforts), but people might not be clear about the nature of event(e.g. I used to think that it is just for NAJC members, not like Diwali celeberation function but more like get together of serious people for discussions). Those who are interested in attending are already aware of it and increasing the number of attendees by publicity might not be the formost point. And if at all, publicity was decided to be one way of pulling in crowd then this post might have been sent well before with details, e.g. Diwali function's post was sent months before and people had lot of time to adjust their schedules... A post sent one week before event qualifies more like a reminder to people who already know but not quite like publicity. These were my thoughts, sorry if I said something wrong.

Dear Vinod,
You are right. I understand what you have said. To make any organization big, one needs more participation and that is the sole purpose for this post. While, NAJC has a membership fee, but any person can attend the function by paying for the lunch. This will give them the insight of the NAJC and if they think that it is the forum for them to do some thing for the community, they can become member at that point of time or later on. The fund raising on these meetings is totally voluntary. Actually one can fullfill his/her dreams of helping people back home, through NAJC.

I am sorry if I have given the wrong signal about the meeting

Dear Vinod / Everyone

Although, NAJC currently has 67 members, it’s constantly on the lookout for new people. In that sense, announcements such as the one posted here by Col. Tavathia do serve a purpose. Not surprisingly, efforts like these have helped NAJC grow at a steady rate; the membership has increased by more than 50% in the last three years. BTW, nearly 50 members have confirmed their attendance and people are coming from as far away places as Maryland (Sujata and Vinod, included).

It’s not just the members (donors here in the US) that help NAJC achieve its goals; equally important are NAJC's friends in India, who help us via their “shram daan”. It’s the donation of their invaluable time that helps NAJC implement its projects in the most efficient manner. So, even though people reading this thread may not be in a position to attend meetings, they certainly can contribute by helping NAJC find the best and most deserving applicants for its scholarship program.

All of us at NAJC take pride in the fact that what started, 11 years ago, as one man’s dream (Mr. Ram Arya) has become jat community's staple charity dedicated to empowering lives through education and other important social causes.

Best Wishes

Singhji and Tavathiaji,

I didn't question the purpose of the post. I would say lets do publicity on wider scale and let people of every local Jat community and yahoo-group know about us and lets involve more and more volunteers. But here I just wanted to start discussion on it by raising a technical question as a common member. I think I should make habit of profusely using emoticons:-).

Vinod
PS: Tavathiaji, Is Tavathia surname different from Tewatia or is it just difference in spellings, like Hisar and Hissar?

Sorry Colonel Tavatia, I would tend to agree with Vinod! Officials most closely associated with the meeting/logistics have informed members and they in turn indicated their attendance. This is not a ‘last minute impulse’ kind of meeting; committed members /concerned individuals should, and have called or written voluntarily rather than posting information here. Extensive viewership does not always translate into action at least in this instance it will be a stretch, especially this late! It is a superb idea to post the information on this forum, let people do soul searching and leave it at that! Too many reminders sometimes dilute the purpose! By all accounts attendance by 50 people is a pretty darn good turn out!

May be there are more contact persons than listed in the official email announcement?

Dear Vinod,

Firstly: About the name: it is the same name with different spelling
Secondly: Questioning the purpose of the post: There is nothing wrong in doing that. It is an open forum and I personally encourage it. It is the younger generation that we need to groom not by just telling them what to do and what not to do, but also letting them to question what they are being told. It is only with this attitude, creativity of the young mind can be preserved.
My post has not been a desperate attempt. I am not the office bearer of the NAJC. My post was just to draw more people. Why you got invitation and other posts for Diwali Function in so much in advance, is because I am the office bearer of AJA. But by being member of any of this organization my responsibility to further its cause does not finish. It was with only this point in view, that I posted it. I am very happy, that you initiated a discussion on the subject, it really does not matter whehter it is technical or tactical. We need to improve on all accounts.
The next meeting will take place some time in April 2006. The venue and exact date will be announced by the working/organizing committee. I hope more members attend the meeting and join the organization. That is the sole purpose of my posts
