The begining of "Jat Jagriti- An Awakening"

Dear and Respected Everyone,
My trust and faith in the community's goodwill and the society's goodwill is further strengthened today. The way everybody came together to make this event a successul begining, is motivating and inspiring. I had just visited the 5 schools to inform the principal's about this event and our plan s and all of them were present at the venue in full strength and with full support. People came forward volunteeriingly and selflessly to take on various responsibilities.
A brief account of the day:-
1. We gathered together at Bahadurgarh and at 11.30am headed for the village, where we were given a warm welcome with hot Tea.
2. There after we were taken to Sidhanti Bhawan for meeting/discussion with the village elders and sarpanch. The important points brought out by village elders -
a) The unavailability of any fund in the village to do any developement work despite the current government being in place for one year. I would like to bring this point in the kind notice of Bhai Dipender Hooda.
b) Principal of the school - brought to our notice that very good students spoil their performance after 8th/9th grade in the absence of guidance. He also complained that the parents dont allow their children to be punished for mistakes and also that the parents dont allow to make the children do some community work.
c) Vaid Jee, brought out the need for moral education and promotion of work culture in students.
d) Our group members assured the people of support in improving quality of education and encouraging sports.
3. There after we were taken for the much awaited Desi Lunch - bajre ki roti, saag, chane ke patte ki chatni, bathue a raayta, churma, chawal, daal, seet
4. we went to the compound of govt girls school where the sports event were taking place. There was a huge crowd of children, young and the elderly too. The races for different age groups were con ducted. But the superhit run was that of the elderly (over 60yrs) an d it was too good, they could have competed with the 18yr olds and beaten them too.
5. There after the handball match was conducted in which some national and international players took part. The prize distribution took place in which the prizes were given away by Bhai Shailender, Priti, Ramesh Lakra and myself.
6. Ramesh gave a talk to the gathering telling them about the work we intend to do and also inpiring students to do well in their studies. I gave a small motivational talk to the children.

IMP:- I will request all members present to bring out their opinion an d feedback about what we all learnt from this event and what we should do in future to take this cause forward.
I have lot of pending work today so right now i am not adding more. I will be writing more soon.

Dear All,

(Dear Navin: I am posting my reply in this new thread)

A good beginning and my congratulations to all those who were involved in this ice breaking and trend setting meet. The task is huge and there is no time to waste.

The key to a successful community development effort is to take everyone together without expecting anything in return. More often than not despondency sets in after a while and that is the biggest challenge. There are more reasons than one for such a stage to arrive and the foremost is having an AIM that is impractical. If the AIM is modest and targets the grass root problem, success is likely. Therefore, the aim must be well thought out and maintained at all times.

Nothing would happen till the times the villagers themselves are not convinced of the urgent need of ‘Education’ and ‘Being Equipped to Face the Challenges’. And they would be convinced only when the group wanting to make a difference is well equipped to make that difference. By being well equipped I mean that members should be able to devote time, energy, resources and money to achieve the chosen aim. It is a long haul and the results would take years. As time passes one would also realise that no amount of effort was enough and so much more could have been done. Therefore, it is important to chart out a well thought out ‘Rural Developmental Schedule’ so that it could be taken up elsewhere too as a ‘Model Project’.

I strongly believe that in order to make any progress on this front we need a group that visits the villages (better if one is from that area) and assesses the need. I can give out a few even without visiting a village: Clean drinking water, Sanitation, Primary education, English speaking, Primary health, Inoculation, Access to Markets for Agricultural Produce, Liquor, Drugs, Crime, Focus on Girl Child, Dowry, Village Politics, Alternate Energy Sources and Accountability of Panchayats.

Once the needs are assessed, the next step is to tackle them in their order of priority, as each area would have a different priority.

How to find the resources to best address each issue? Besides sincerity of purpose and will to make a difference, the most important factor that would decide the outcome of the effort would be FUNDS. However, I feel if we can all join hands even that should not be a major problem. I had given this suggestion in my village 25 years back and was laughed at but I was right because my suggestion meant sacrifices from those who had left the village for greener pastures. The suggestion is simple and I don’t mind repeating it here. Each person who has left his village and has a monthly income (Government, Private, Self-employed, Business, Thief, Dacoit, Smuggler etc etc) must make a monthly contribution in cash to a fund that should be controlled. There is no other way to do any of the above mentioned insurmountable tasks without a collective effort of this nature. If each person can contribute even 3 - 5% of his income for the betterment of his own village, we can succeed. Can we start doing so from 01 JAN 2006? No NEW YEAR RESOLUTION can be better than this? You would be surprised to know the amount of money that can be collected. Each village has at least 200, if not more, persons who are working. An average salary of Rs 20,000/- per month is taken for rough calculations. 200 people X Rs 20000 X 12 Months = Rs 4,80,00,000. And 3 - 5% of that is Rs 14,40,000/- & Rs24,00,000/- respectively (hope my calculation are right?). We can change the face of our villages in 10 years flat.

There is nothing to ponder but members may have a different view.

Regards,

JS Malik

Thanks Malik Sir, for the detailed suggestions. The plan for collecting funds is very good, the main setback to the plan will be that people will not trust the person who is holding the funds. People have lot of mistrust and we cannot blame them because this mistrust has come from the exploitation people have faced from their leaders and politicians for ages. We have to win the faith of the people and everyone with our sincere work.
We have currently selected 2 areas of work as education and sports.
Malik Sir, your blessings and guidance will be an asset to the effort.

A very nice and humble start for a noble cause by Navin ji and other associated members and participants

Wel its a long journey and only God can say so much efforts and time will take to bring the turn around but it is for sure that single step for this long journey has been taken... and i have full faith that this vision is possible and efforts put in this fashion will definately make like minded people to join the cause.

I agree with Col Malik sir point of view and had opporunity also to discuss things in person. What make me very happy and confident is that the conscious level within our community is rising. This will bring the much need change. We as a community must focus on our strenghts and improve the weakness.

A humble suggestion or model which im following i thought i wil share with u also is that we must bring up our near, dear family member and relatives up in education, geting job & business similar to what is generally done by Sardar, Sindhi or Gujrathi community.

At last it gives me immense pleasure to see the tireless and dedicated efforts put in by you all. Please accept my heart felt regards for same. Im particularily impress by Ramesh Lakra sir who has been sincerely contibuting from his mumbai days.

first of all let me thank, all of you who were part of this great gathering on 27th and i believe that it is going to a great day for jats.

Well to start with, the kind of people present both in numbers and quality can easily put any election rally to shame therefore the organisers had tough time controliing them. It only showed that ordinary people has lost faith in politicians and we too made it quite clear that we do not affiliate to any political outfit.

As mentioned above, by Navin Bhai the programme went smooth.During the discussion with elders, sarpanchs the following emerged:

1) Sarpanch grant to be reverted back to old system with steps to prevent corruption.
Jat jagriti--- they were told that this is beyond the focus area of JatJagriti but it would still be represented across to Mr.deepender hooda, a member on our site

2)Good people leave villages stating that "gaon mein maahol kharab hain"
Jat jagriti--- Better education only can be solution with a stress on moral education

3)Priority level for education is missing.
Jat jagriti--- they were told that this is the exact reason the jagriti people are here they are going to be there more frequently.

4) Lack of Sports facilities and equipment
Jat jagriti--- reply at sl 3

5)Role model for village boys is absent as even the seniors who have finished masters or higher education are unemployed.
Jat jagriti---They were promised that more frequent jagriti people would visit the village to motivate boys with their own self example.

6)Students who do well at primary level generally gets demotivated in higher classes and gets involved in unlawful activities
Jat jagriti---refer to reply at serial 3.

7)No teacher for class 8 and 11th and also no rooms for them too.
Jat jagriti---Well we were helpless but we promised to do something about it by way of conveying it to Mr. Deepender hooda.

8)Dispensary.
Jat jagriti --- It is important to note here that there had to be TWO sarpachs and it was a pity that there was no dispensary nearby. But we told them that we have left all these things to the politicains and please dont expect much from them as we are looking for tomarrow's young people who will become doctors themselves and will not need a dispensary, therefore.

9) Stress on moral and hygiene education is lacking in a village teahers..
Jat jagriti---refer reply to sl no 3

I think the above mentioned points are serious and need to be discussed as the story is simillar elsewhere in our belts of jats.I would like to mention it here that on behalf of jat jagriti we made it quite clear that we are a group of jats but we are for eveyone present here irrespective of the caste and there shall be no discrimation whatsoever.

last but not the least jatjagriti informally discussed to visit the village every fortnight in rotation( say for example the technical guys can go on one weekend and doctors next time, may be with with free health camps etc and likewise defence people) and it was left to Navin to liase regarding this. suggestions and recommendations are welcome here regarding this and please be a part of it by making urself available on some weekends.

personally let me thank solanki for bestowing all the faith in me.thankx a lot.
thank you all of u once again, signing off as of now with promise to post rest half of the happening that day.

Bhai Navin And all

Its a good start and ur appeal is not new Navin its already been on jatland several times but here most of the members only beleive in posting posts and doing nothing and they dont come forward and i have no answer for this that why they act like this. Well "Jat Jagriti" is a good start and i know there are some jatlanders who are really serious in doing something but there is a need of platform, now if u guys are thinking to register "Jat Jagriti" a registered NGO than we can all gather under this roof and start doin something. We all know we have limited resources and unlimited wants but still where there is a will there is a way. If u see Navin how many members have replied to ur post so far can give u the answer of lots of questions. But i beleive still we have some strength who can go for this challenge. As Col. Malik said first hindrance is finance which is true and we need funds on every step and for this we cant look towards govt. cos we all know that wht politicians are whether its hooda or its Chautala, i know exceptions are always there but still whom we are thinking exception they have to prove themselves and so far they are not doing as they were expected.
Now come to ur point Col. Malik abt contribution i dont think we can gather 200 people of our village to contribute Rs. 2000-3000 each month cos it needs lots of courage and sincerity and unselfishness which i dont think is in there in the masses. But still i m not opposing the idea and i m saying that first if we can gather 200 people from jatland is a big success at the initial stage cos all jatlanders are educated, they can understand each others feeling and now if we head toward this direction we can organise some events on every six month basis and a annual event can be organise (something like Rural convention oct. 2006 which we already talked abt). So this all need dedication and support of serious Jats from all over the Globe.

Well Shailender Bhai i heard that ur registering the Jat Jagriti than i support u to go ahead and we all will get together now , so this is the best time to strt and lets take it a new resolution.

Just a few related thoughts -
1. We cant have perfect solutions, we can only have perfect sincerity. We should just intend to do some good work and if we are able to help 5 people and motivate 5 kids, we should be happy.
2. It cannot be an overnight change. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
3. We have to think about the ways in which we can contribute towards the cause. We should all have a minimum aim of helping atleast 5 people and motivating 5 kids.
4. Funds will help and might be needed at times but the first thing needed is sincere action and sincere work. In my mind I am not worried/concerned about funds, I am only thinking of actions.
5. What happened on 27th was an event. Now we will have activities.
My course of action -
a) I have decided to open an education cell in the village for providing guidance and help relating to education. The 9th and 11th std which dont have teachers, i and khushi will be going to teach them on few days and i will try to organise self-study for them and to advise them how to conduct self-study.
b) I have decided to make a list of all un-employed youth in the village and to do all to get them employment/self-employment.
c) I have decided to help the 5-6 physically challenged kids to get independent and do well under the other project ASFA (www.asfa.co.in)
d) I will be visiting some schools in Jhajjar and some smaller villages soon.
More than funds, we need volunteers, people who are willing to work on ground. Sabko saath leke chalna hai. Ekta mei shakti hai.

We shouldnot be critical and negative about things. We should believe in the goodness of people and their intentions. When we meet and interact with warmth and love it alwasy gets reciprocated. I have never run short of good people. When i need one, i find eight.
I was returning that night and my car screen was covered with mud. I stopped at a house and asked the man siting there "Bhai ek dallu paani milega sheeshe pe daalne ke liye" and he said "paani se bhi patla kya hoga? aap aao, chaay paani, roti tuuk sab hai". The point is when we believe that people are nice we meet nice people and my belief in this philosophy is only strenghthened every day.

Mission ‘JAT JAGRITI’ has taken-off!!

Navin Gulia

We are with you Navin dear!!

Although, we (the DJM members) were enthusiastic enough, but we didn’t knew what to do or how should we go - till we met Navin! He is the one who motivated, guided and supported us! Without him, we are (and will be) nothing!

Navin bhai, we are also workers like you!

Hamne to sirf ek chhota sa sapna dekha tha – Navin ney usey asliyat banaaya!!!!
(He has turned our dreams into reality and we are very much optimistic about our future endeavors!)

Our visit to Barhana village on Tuesday, 27/12/05:

Many ladies were busy in the kitchen and working hard for our lunch! Navin forgot to mention about ‘nooni ghee’ we had in bulk - along with ‘pinkish’ seet to top it all!

Villagers were equally enthusiastic about everything – be it about education quality and awareness, sports activities etc. Hundreds of people thronged the venue – where the sports activities were going on!

3 girls recited a ‘swagat gaan’:
Phool khilte rahein,
Muskurate rahein,
Ae parwasi aate rahein,
Yoon hi jaate rahein.

Priti got ‘laapata’ for a long time. When enquired about her whereabouts – we found that she was busy with and surrounded by those little girls and kids in other corner of the ground (very good Priti dear – that’s why we were there!). She only can tell about further developments on that ‘small panchayat’! She even gave 2 basketballs to the sports cell.

Lakra’s simplicity to attach with the village people is amazing. Although, being in service, it’s heartening that he is providing his full time and support. That’s his commitment towards our community! Keep it up Ramesh dear!

One snapshot at the venue; during the handball match:
Navin was near the ground, watching the match. Priti was far away with girls. Neeraj, Deepak, Chhikara and Anil were taking snaps and shooting live; all over the ground. Sunil Dabas and Farswal were interacting with the villagers. Khushi (with her ‘ghoonghat’ and saas!), Priti’s mother and mamaji, Ramesh and many others were enjoying the game from the stage. Public was all over the ground. But, what was myself doing at that time?? I was enjoying watching them all!!

More afterwards!

Thanks to everyone for their overwhelming support –outside and inside Jatland.com

It was indeed heartening to see Navin taking this initiative and lit a candle of hope in a barren land of dwindling fortunes. It was not a simple exercise of going to a village for a picnic but an experiment with truth. I am fully aware as to what it takes to think good of others who don't matter to you on the surface? When somebody travels in a direction, not intended to garner popular support and profits, it is the shere character that motivates a person to leap on the troubled horizons. It was a selfless act on the part of Navin,Shailendra and all those people who could spare their valuable time and could be there where people don't wish to pass through. I am simply moved by the way things were taken care of. I wish i could be part of it on ground, however i find myself mentally involved in it. Very good initiative taken and hope kindled. Keep it up and a long way to go. God speed !

Jai Mata Di,

To all JAT bhai

yes friends its much more than a starting.....whatever we thinked, we

got more than that.
the way they welcome us, the way they discuess with us and the way all

activities take place.

So friends we have to maintain the level which we have achieved in the

first village visit, as the expectation for the next visits are also

there.
Now, we have to prepare in advance in many ways, like:
....Better control over the activities
for that we require more poeple in the next visit.

....Better control over resources handed over thereso that we can better know the feedBack from the authorised person in village.

....Divide the JAT-JAGRITI members into different depatments to deal in
specialise area

like, member deal in Sports related activities
" " Education " "
and same for other activities

AS WE ALL HAVE DECIDED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF " DELHI_JAT_MEET " INTO " JATJAGRITI "....IT IS CHANGED

Now all previous links which point to Delhi_jat_meet yahoo group in

JATLAND.COM, will no longer work.

the new link to the group is :

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JatJagriti

so, be the member of this group for all updates and please also communicate this group to all your friends in delhi....
....i am also doing that by sending mails to all jatland.com members and all other groups in yahoo, google etc.

And we can put duty of every cell on any sunday of every month go to and perform thier work .

And we can organise some competation like painting, singing and motivate students.

We have many teacher, doctor and other professional who can help us .

DEAR ALL MEMBER I PERSONALLY REQUEST TO COME FORWARD TAKE THIS START TO ITS DESTINATATION.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the organization of the event.

Navin, I didn’t see the names of the two Arjuna Awardees (Shakti Singh & Raj Kumar Sangwan) in the list of people who attended the function. I had passed on to you their cell phone numbers after talking to them; they both had agreed to attend. As I had written to you, they were both told that you would contact & inform them of the exact place and time of the meet. I was wondering whether you were able to do so.

Presence of these two Asian Champions/Olympians would have added to the star appeal and the stories of their journey from small Haryana towns to the Olympic arena would have inspired more than a few kids to follow in their footsteps.

Anyways, kudos once again for a job well done!!!

Best Wishes

Dear Kapoor Bhai,
In your last mail to me you had said that you would be giving another call to RajKumar Sangwan around 25th and confirming with him and then i should give him a call inviting him. I wrote an email to you regarding this on 25th and 26th. I think it was a mixup with a little laziness on my part . I had already told a number of people there and they were expecting RajKumar ji there.
Thanks for the wishes. The event was a success thanks to everyone's cooperation on Ground and all the support and encouragement received on the net from all over the globe. We never felt short of encouragement and that kept us going.
In near future we can organise a sports event to involve a number of villages of an area and also we can aim at providing sports facilities to an entire area where there is absence of such facilities as of now.
In village Barhana, a sport supported on such a small scale (they had only two wooden goal post and 2 handballs) has been able to produce national and international players. It is an example of what we can achieve if we work on this line. We wont need costly stadiums or luxurious facilities, we just need a little will to begin with.
Kapoor bhai, I am looking forward to your advice and guidance on this.
Warm Regards

Dear All
Frankly, when i attended my first jat meet, i was really impressed by bhai shailender's eagerness to work, it inspired me to do all i could.
As I mentioned earlier, we have had an event, now is the tim e to begin activities. While events get us the attention, evetns need funds. Activities will need more investment of efforts and sincerity.
Sunil bhai, your suggestions are right. Only, we will not and cannot start all things at once, we have to start from scratch and build on.

Dear all,

When do we plan to do what we had promised to undertake. For the benefit of all this movement has to carry on and i think broad things asking for our attnetion are:

1) fullfill all our promises made and to take only that much what we can digest.

2)Ask for volunteers with a firm propasal to carry it out in systematic manner.

3) Spread it out to other villages after self sustained growth/volunteers at this village we adopted.

Bhai Ramesh, valid point we have to start the work. I have already stated my plan, i am just waiting for schools to open in a few days. I am planning to teach the 9th and 11th class for 2months so that they dont miss their year. Paralelly i will work on other things as mentioned below.
Now, do i have volunteers? for expanding this work.

Great work Navin, Ramesh and all others involved.

I've taken a note of the couple of points that you've mentioned for me to take note of....and let me tell you this - both your observations (that of school infrastructure and shortage of teaching staff) unfortunately are not limited to this particular village, but are pretty widespread in rural schools.

Education is one of my key focus areas as well and I am working overtime on various plans - at the moment have started involving a few NGOs and other non-gov groups in my efforts too - please feel free to drop in any time to meet-up perhaps we can add in our energies.

All the best in your endevours. This is a great start! congratulations.

Dear Deepender bhai,

It is very encouraging of u to have taken a note of our efforts in improving education and moral values amoungst our youths.

We promise you to take these initiatives to new heights, very soon, ofcourse with an eye on more participation from the site. Here, personally i do agree with views of sh Rajender Kalkunde to have a Calender of events made public so that people confirm their participation early.

You are very right when you say that all the villages today have simillar stories across the board and that exactly is the reason we are probably targeting the young people and their education and overall growth. So five years from now when a 6th class child becomes a lad with all the good intentions and self sufficiency, that is all that would make the difference to the villages with scores of such lads.Alas, it is easier said then done, and it would require tremendous amount of volunteers to organise themselves and spread the movement.

Accept my appreciations for having spared time for us. We would definately want to see you after carrying out some home-work.

Together we can make a difference.

Thanks Deepender Bhai for extending your support to this endeavour. I was myself thinking of contacting you but didnot kow your jatland id.
As Reamesh rightly said, we will first do our homework, there are some things to discuss and decide.

1. If we plan to take our work forward with the volunteers we actually need to know who all are willing to give their time on a more regular basis.
2. In improving quality of education, the need to promote english language is an urgency. Members should come with their advice/ideas/suggestions on this.
3. Promotion of sports? We dont need costly stadiums/facilities. What we need is that there should be a small sports cell in the villages where some sports items are available for the children/youth. Sports keeps our youth away from illegal/immoral activities, it breeds a health mindset. Once the interest is generated the child himself takes the interest forward.

Anything done with a good intention will always have good results.

Thanks to Anu and Deepender – that’s the best you both could have done at the initial stage of this movement. These kind of moral supports could work like wonders for our community’s future! We hope for bigger favours in near future!

Done , the thread is a sticky now.

I've taken a note of the couple of points that you've mentioned for me to take note of

Dear Navin and Ramesh,

We couldn’t be successful without villager’s support and some dedicated volunteers from that area! That’s the most necessary aspect at this time. We have already asked the villagers for some vols and Navin could ask them - if they have short-listed some!!

As, Jagmohan Sir has written: once the needs are assessed, the next step is to tackle them in their order of priority, as each area would have a different priority. So, we shouldn’t work on several tasks all at once, juggling everything! But, it would be best to just focus on one thing at a time. We should do our best to stay focused and keep our attention centered on one thing at a time! We should also try to take things at a slower pace and not prefer to move quickly!

Distractions and interruptions could be frequent, so it could take extra energy to get things done.

Navin would keep updated about the latest developments and we do hope for a much bigger participation from other Jatland members (be it Tan, Man or Dhan)! We do also need some senior members for this great cause!

We met a young boy - Bhupender Ahlawat – during this visit and he is already working towards the noble cause of educating children of that area (through “Dayanand Smriti” Shaikshik Jagrukta Karyekram). He distributes printed material and books to school going children, free of cost! One book is helpful for ‘career guidance’ in Army, Navy, Air Force, JBT, B.Ed., LLB, NDA, CDS etc. We will try to make him a part of “JJ”!

Thanks to one and all!

Its good lots of people are coming forward to do something for our community and if the number grows like this than we can really create the difference , i know this is going to take lots of time and contribution and as indicated by Shailender Bhai we need people to support no matter by Tan, man and dhan. Making a calender for events is a good suggetion and now one more thing we can do is to select some talented kids from our villages who are really good in sports activities and we can sponsor them so that they can do better in future. Shailender Bhai as i asked u b4 also that r u guys going to register the Jat Jagriti or not. If so this will be a platform to get us all together and do something for our community people. Dear Bhai Rajesh, wonderful! great!
We can find deserving candidate by taking out add in local paper (amar ujala, dainik bhaskar, dainik jagran) asking for students to apply. We an also spread the word by mouth on our village visits and look for candidates ourselves. From the fin al list the team mem bers can select one candidate.
Deserving candidate (my idea)
1. economically weak 2. girl/boy - girl child should get priority 3. academic performance (result of 10th/12th)

Bhai Rajesh- you have to decide
1. Will you giv e sponsorship to a boy/girl till he/she completes education (which will be some years)
2. If we chose a candidate every year, than at a time we may have a number of them after a few years.

There are many factors which deeply affect to a student. These can turn his/her life completely. Some may be :-
1. Parents
2. Environment
3. Teachers
4. Goal.
These above factors play a major role in a student’s life. So if we want to improve quality in education then we must need to work on these points by making them favorable to a student.
1. Parents: Parents play a major role in student’s life. Student’s whole development depends on parents. Parents know his child better than other. They are much aware from his weakness and strengths. Parents can teach him good social values and their importance. I think social values are much essential for a student to do well in his/her life and this can be done in a better way only by his/her parents. Mother can inspire him/her to do something new in life while father can make him aware from his/her duties and responsibilities as a student. A Student can be motivated by his parents in better way than others. In rural areas parents understand their duty off only on admitting their child into school. They hardly talk with him/her about his/her study and progress. Parents in villages never visit in the school to check the development of his child. Yeha tak ki jab bacha school se ata hai to usko ate hi kehte hai beta jaa eh kaam kar wo kaam kar , padhai ke liye nahi kehte hai.. Here I am not saying that a student should not do work in farm but there should be a good time schedule for his/her study and other work and I think only parents can help him/her in this matter. This is why we first need to work on this point. We need to make the parents aware that time has changed completely and to make their child more competitive with rest of the world they will have to change their attitude toward their child. Parents need to involve themselves in the progress/success of his/her child. Parents should try to find out their child’s weakness and can help him/her to come out from his/her weaknesses.
2. Environment: It is also an important factor which is not student friendly specially in our rural areas. A student can do well where he/she has good friend circle, good opportunity for better education, friendly competition among students, good sports facilities for using spare time. Such type of environment can bring many brilliant minds from our rural areas. students pass their important time by sitting under tree or GATA (choupal)even in school time by doing smoking or sharing nonsense jokes and in other silly things. To change this system we should discuss with the villagers. We need to motivate students.
Teachers: Less said is better about them. I think in present time they are not doing justice with their job. Education system ki aisi taise kar rakhi hai in mastaro ne to.. bhoot bigadh gaye hai yeh.. sabse pehle to iniko sudharne ki jaroorat hai.. . They have forgotten what is their duty.. They have nothing to do with the interest of students. Inko to sirf mehine ek tarik yaad rehti jab payment milta hai… na to yeh school maie time par ate hai.. and jab ate hai to bi apna time politics gupsap maie pura kar dete hai…hamare samaj ko netawo se jyada khatra to in logo se hai . They force the students to take tuitions. My uncle (who is lecturer in chemistry) earns more money than his salary through tuitions, and if any student doesn’t come for the tuition he may loose practical marks. So to improve quality in education teachers activities must be checked by a system and I think villager can play a good role in this side. We can organize a team of some villagers (non-politician) those can visit in schools regularly to check the presence of teachers and their role.
Goal (Lakshya): without goal a student is like a fish without sea. Student must be aware of his goal if he/she wants to reach at peak. It is pity said that a 10th pass student don’t know what his/her aim in life. Almost student are not able to answer this question due to lack of career guidance in rural areas. If a student can decide his/her goal during primary stage than I think he can put his/her best efforts to achieve the goal. We can talk with students friendly to help them to find out their goal and can provide basic guidance to achieve it. Motivation can play very important role here as a tonic.
There are many brilliant minds in our villages, those can enlighten the name of our community, hame sirf chalni lekar channe ke jaroorat hai…. It feel proud that many people are coming ahead to make this dream a reality.
Raj bhiya ji thanks for your offer. This is what we need. Scholarship exam can be good option (in my views).
In our first step we should concentrate only on one village to make it a role model for our future programs.

Dear Navin Bhai and all the Jat Jagriti activists,

I am back to my karm bhoomi after a break of almost 3 weeks.

First of all I extend my sincere thanks to Navin Bhai his equally good half Khushi bhabhi and very actively supportive parents, brother and Col.Kataria for his guidance and full support for the Jat Jagriti.for putting in so much efforts for organising the meeeting on 25th Dec at Gurgaon.

It was so strengthening and empowering to meet so many dedicated and motivated jat brothers and sisters. Each one present there had the spark and
tremendous energy to be directed for the well being of our community. I wish I could name each one individually.

Due to unavoidable cicumstances I was unable to be present on 27th (the real work) for which I sincerely apologise.

It is my privilege and pleasure to be associated with this mission.
However we people who are away from our matrbhumi can contribute very little.

Just two points to share:

1. Let us concentrate our efforts on 1 or 2 villages intially.
2. And focus on the specific areas that we decide.

Once we are better organised we must broaden gradually area of our work.

Gajesh Bhaisaab,
Thanks so much for your appreciation and support.
Student scholarship - a) My suggestion is that besides going for good student, we should go for a needy student from a poor family with little support.
b) We will together make sure that we get a very deserving candidate.
c) One student will recieve a scholarship on the name of Late Shri Krishan Chandra Rathee, Father of Bhai Rajesh.
d) We will work on more students in near future.

My dear Navin, Shailendra and all worthy members associated with Jat jagriti,

I have a few suggestions, purely for consideration and not neccessarily for implementation.

1] Though any thing good done by a human being/group of people in unplanned manner through a gesture of goodwill too is a great service and finds mention in the records of God almighty but still when we plan to involve ourselves in an organised manner then most important ingradient after the WILL/BHAVANA will be DISCIPLINE. Unless we have a strict charter with plans afoot, things won't move in a desired direction and results may not be as pictured and hence there will be an urgent requirement for office bearers, who can be for a fix term or life term. Having done that, there will be a need for a fool proof constitution of the welfare body with a possiblity of ammendments as per the needs of the time. Blue print of a task is very important for a group to multiply and progress.

2] Utmost Honesty and Devotion: I have no qualms about that as very able and upright people have initiated this cause and hence that requirement seems met.

3] Transparancy : This is one aspect where a lot of heads have to scratch because people will be curious to know the results/utility of their association/work done/contributions made etc-2. At the end of the day this happens to be the most defficult and challanging tasks of all. Thus a spotless record of every thing needs to be maintained.

4] Faith : this is yet another problem area as faith is not so easily put in place. People tend to be spektical of the intentions of any undertaking freshly taking off and frankly there is some merit in their concerns because of bogus organisations running on every street and corner of even small towns. The faith ofcourse will come by the deeds and practical performance and as such can not be thrust into the psych. Still a proper attention needs to be paid.
5] Registeration Registeration of this organisation will really kick start it and thus every endavour should be made to get it authenticated [ may be if using Jat with Jagriti meets some objection, we can always use word like KISSAN etc]
6] Donations: I suggest that a proper account be opened in the name of the orginisation straight away so that interested people can send DD/cheques directly to the account, so thay funds are readily available towards implimentations of various planned activities.
7] A BOOKLET: I will request the WHO'S WHO to bring out a quarterly/half yearly booklet summarising all the activities of the organisation as it will keep people informed of the activities.

These are a few which i thought to share with all at this point of time. I will contribute to this organisation whole heartidlyand without any questions asked. Wishing Jat Kaum all the best !

I can think of two things as of now :

1. We should try to establish a library in each of the schools and inculcate the habbit of reading. We can volunteer to go there on weekends and read them books.

2. We should try and get books which are in Hindi on one page and English translation of the same on the other. This way they can learn it faster and it will be very effective. I was once approached by such publisher here in Hyderabad for implementing this in schools supported by Asha. I think if we can get the same for Hinidi English ti can be a very effective medium.

Dear Members,
hmmm, after days of pondering i have come up with some ideas, suggestions and plans.

1. We should continue working on the village and expand from there.
2. As for the core issue 'Improving the quality of education'. I feel we need to do something on a larger scale. We need to do extensive campaigning. Some help from government policies and some common support we can make major progress.
It is very important to work on promoting english in schools and personality development. The discouraging point is that even the teachers cannot speak english.
I think even for future teacher selection there should be more importance given to personality test besides qualifications.
Campaigning in schools (even one visit can make a difference) is a good option. I am willing to devote my full time for it but there would be monetory aspects involved in terms of travelling and literature(pamphlets, booklets, banners if any).
I think we should work on this option and come what may, make it a success.

i would request the Other members to discuss and decide.

Bhai Anuj, good suggestions. Libraries an d books are a must

Hi Navain,

Good to know that you want to make sure that we succeed in what we started and not leave it mid way.

I think as you have mentioend the best option would be to start with one school or one village at a time.

They way some of us work here is that we have formed a group of 5-6 people who volunteer to teach on saturdays at a school

That way there is a continuity as even if some cant come there will be 2-3 ppl who wuld go each weekend.
We can very well talk to the teachers and make saturday an activity day where we get all the students involved in activities like learning english, reading books and publick speaking etc.

About monetary help required for this. I think all the volunteers will have to bear some basic expenses on their own and for things like printing of stuff and getting books etc I am sure we have a big enough audience here and raising some money to start a library at a school would not be a problem.

We can start a new thread regarding that once we know what will be our exact requirement and how much funds we will need for that.

Also we can seek help from NAJC chapter and Kapoor singh bhai sahab can be contacted for that.

dear Bhai Anuj,
Yes, we have already started with one village and i have taken on giving my time to the needs there. This one village wouldnt require much funds. Books and all i can collect here without any problem for one village.
If we decide on extensive campaigning over large number of villages then it will require funds.
In the past i ve been working in the direction of motivating the kids and it really works. Kids have a very impressionable mind and a little motivation can do wonders on them.

With the right guidance, encouragement and motivation the children can do wonders. And having a Limca record holder for motivation !! No one cna beat that :)

I think we would need a bigger volunteer base incase we want to go ahead with plans of covering up more than one village.

We might need a website and a registration , but I thinkw e shuld give all these sometime and continue with the one village model for sometime.

Dear Navin Bhai,

As we discussed during Gurgaon meeting we need to do something concrete to help our village students children improve upon thier English with more emphasis on spoken English.

Dear Anuj has given couple of good suggestions.

For the village where we have started our work can we have a weekly class to help them with this. We can hire a teacher to do this job and one of our vounteers should also be present (by rotation). Use audio and video tools will make it interesting and effective. Let this class be not totally free but highly subsidised. If this facility is provided totally free they required sincereity may not be there and the children may not value it.

We may subscribe to couple of English magazines for the students of this English Learning class.

My Ram Ram to all the Members,
Hi,

My joy sees no end on being a member of this club. I had only been talking to have such a forum without realizing there is already one.(we need to popularize this by every means of communication).

Every one knows that to execute the marvellous ideas to promote brother hood and its betterment we need money.

To start with i suggest all the members can volunteer to pay atleast 1% of their earnings per month to a common fund which can be utilized for giving shape to all these ideas.

it is a delight to see every one helping getting jobs to jats.(sadly couldn't find much from Jats settletd abroad on this front)

Another suggestion is that all the Jats abroad try and settle atleast one Jat(either by marriage, adoption or employment in their area). This will make us financially strong.............Ashok Kinha

Dear Friends,
Education wise-
Me and Khushi have decided to go to village barhana every Sunday and hold classes for English speaking and reading for the students/children.
We will register the students and take proper classes.
However, after discussing with the people there we have realised that we cannot charge a fee if we want more participation because as it is the fee in village pvt schools is about rs 40 and parents wont be willing to pay for any such course. We would there fore be conducting free classes. In fact we will be providing notebook, pen and reading material free of cost to motivate the students to come in. While they can keep the notebook and pen, they will have to return the reading material for use by others.
I am also sure that soon we will be able to provide them 2-3 computers as well.
Sports wise-
Bhai Vireshwar Ahlawat has agreed to sponsor the cost of goal posts for a new better handball court.
I am setting up 2 volleyball courts and a football ground for the kids to play. (I personally can still play volleyball, so that’s my interest there J )
I am sure that we will be able to make a lot of progress soon and then we can emulate the same in other villages we take on.
All members interested in joining this weekly visit are welcome to get in touch with me.
With Warm Regards

Bhai Navin,

Excellent.

Just one point that you should raise and discuss with the village elders rather forcefully. Anything 'Free of Cost' loses its effectivenes after sometime. Just ask village elders as to how much money they spend on Drinking Liquor each day? Let them give up drinking for one week per month for their own children. In fact put this condition. Everything can happen and we don't have to run around for copies and books.

Is it asking for too much? I don't think so. Let them also take some steps and sacrifice for the betterment of their village. Free ki aadat mat lagne dena Bhai.

I am sure you understand the correct motive and aim behind this post.

Keep doing good and God will bles you and Khushi with all the hardwork & happiness.

God Speed.

Dear All,
This issue has been coming up again and again but the need has come to raise it again.
I request every one to give their feedback.
The villagers have had a very negative reaction to our naming as "Jat Jagriti" because in the villages it is a touchy issue since the people are Jats, Khatis, Chhipis, kumhar, baniya.... and they live in absolute brotherhood.
I am myself feeling bad because i had myself advocated naming it "Jat Jagriti" without foreseeing this. I therefore request permission to recommend "Jan Jagriti" (Jan as in janta i.e. people) as an alternate name. Our purpose and mission remains same.
The decision remains on every one's advice.
Thanks

Dear Friends

I am back in Toronto after spending some quality time in India. I apologise for my late response to this thread. Main culprit is lack of internet connection at home and my unwillingness to spend my precious time chasing the mtnl guys to fix a broadband.

Apart from the usual little frustrations, it was an enchanting visit back home. Over here i would discuss the Barhana visit. As you all have already written and read, it was a great initiatives.

Straight to the point, the issue to be highlighted here is school girls and their problems. The girls in Barhana were simply amazing in their enthusiasm to talk to about things to a complete stranger like me. The fact that i spoke their language was a huge facilitator.

Firstly- lack of direction, an example- I asked a girl who was in her 12th standard on what she intended to do after she cleared the exams and she said 'i dont know'. We had some more conversation and what i feared was true. Her parents wanted to get her married off and she did not even know what she should fight for or against.

The second issue was absence of means to learn english. The girls said that there is no english teacher in the school and that they get their lessons from other makeshift teachers or sometimes from the english teacher from the nearby private school. They also mentioned that in the village environment it is very hard for them to learn english properly.

The other issue was regarding the attitude of parents towards allowing the girls in sporting activities. The problem here is dominence of boys in limited sporting spaces available in the village and the conservative attitude of the parents and the villagers.

the second issue could be handled by the govt. or the local education authorities and it would be great if somebody could highlight this issue to the local authority.

The first and third issues are mainly related to social and psycological pressures on the girl child. These could only be handled with social change which comes with attitude change and a growing conciousness of importance of education for girl child. For this I think the best way to go forward is to put some examples in the village which other girls can aspire to and from which parents can derive strength to support their girls for further education and development.

I would request the jat jagriti group to always include a focus on girl child education and rights. This was something which i felt was missing from the visit. But i understand that this is just the beginning and hopefully much more is to be established.

I was discussing this initiative with some of my development sector friends who have huge practical experience of working in the villages and a good suggestion was to setup a small library in the village where the children can find 'chetna' oriented books. Also, books from great writers on social issues like munshi premchand. We have a rich writing culture in India and am sure that if nothing else, reading occupies creative minds and introduces them to the outside world and new ideas.

The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation provides funds for setting up small libraries in villages. The criteria for getting the funds are very simple. Navin, we can start this with Barhana. I can work on the list of books which should be in this library and also find out about the RGF grant. Seriously, this a tangible and simple task which can bring some good results....

More later...

Hi Navin I totally agree to this.

We can only focus on working in our villages but we cannot afford to brand us as onlya Jat seva group as we can not and should not differentiate between the under privilegded children in these villages.

Also going forward when we would seek help from a bigger community it makes us for acceptable.

But yes our main focus should be to help these children in our villages.

Priti: I totally agree to the suggestion of a library there. Incase its too long a process of getting things done thru RCF I think we can ourselves create a pool pf money and use that to set up a library.

As I had mentioned earlier we can get english books as well and volunteers can read these books to them during their visit to the schools.

And there are bilingual books, with Hindi and English of the same text on the same page. That wat it makes easier for them to read in hindi and then read the same text in english. It can help them learn english very quickly.

Dear Priti,
Yes, i agree with the points mentioned about the girl child. I was focussing more on education and had missed out the fact that the girls would require a seperate playing area in the village.
Khushi will be there with me and will interact and work on the girls activities. Ofcourse the lady members from jatland who are aroun d nearby can also join in.

Dear Vinod and Priti,
There is an existing library in the village and we can add books. It would only require a few thousand rupees to get study material, where as chasing funds from rgf or govt is a back breaking experience(if it can be done easily then its fine).
Besides, i also feel that we will have to organise activities to bring the children to the class/library. Only the existence of the library wont help. Just like Vinod suggested, readin g books to them and making them read.

Yeah Navin thats even better then.

Incase one of us can come up with a list of books and the price we can post a message here and I am sure we would definitely be able to raise the required money.

After the meeting how many of the volunteers plan to visit the school on regular basis, apart form you and kushi ?

Just curious to know as to how much we can scale up our efforts.

Dear Anuj

Thank you very much for reposing your trust in NAJC. J. Jagriti can certainly expect financial contributions from NAJC; especially for projects that resonate with NAJC’s objective and goals.

NAJC, with a membership of 67, provides more than 20 annual scholarships, amounting to approx. 6 lac Rupees, to bright jat students. But, it’s worth mentioning here that NAJC runs quite a few projects in India that are aimed at improving the lives of people, irrespective of their caste or creed. Some of NAJC’s such non-caste based projects are:

Free School in Kalirawan, Hisar – Sponsored by Mr. Ram Arya (NAJC’s Founder)
Free School for Girls in Rathora, Uttar Pradesh - Sponsored by Dr. Jagbir Singh
Free School in Nagauri, Uttar Pradesh – Sponsored by Mr. Jaipal Rathee
Shri Sidhanti Memorial Trust, Barhana, Jhajhar – Sponsored by The Ahalawat Family

Navin had asked for Rs. 12,000 for purchasing equipment for the handball team. Mr. Vireshwar Ahlawat, whose family runs the Shri Sidhanti Trust in Barhana, has agreed to sponsor the items through NAJC..

Best Wishes

NAJC

Also we can seek help from NAJC chapter and Kapoor singh bhai sahab can be contacted for that.

Dear Vinod,
As of now no one has volunteered for this sunday's visit. We will be going to Barhana this sunday to work on the planning and organising part. The class may start from next sunday only or maybe even a little later than that.
We have bought some books and are already working on the lesson plans/activities that can be conducted.

Dear Dev Sir,
Thanks for offering the books.
It would be a pleasure and honour to meet you. Looking forward to it.

Dear Kapoor Bhaisaab,
Nice to know about all the activities that NAJC is carrying out, wonderful.
I am financially not in a position to contribute much except for the 1000/2000 i can manage from my approx 8000 salary. But i find myself lucky to be in a position to work physically.
And my services are available to NAJC, fora and Jagriti and every one.
I have been fortunate to meet so many nice people on the net and now with the collective energy we will really be able to bring some results. I am very confident and sure.

sunita hooda.

We can have an event/activity on this sunday 5th feb or the next. Since i have been called to RIMC for a talk i wont be there this sunday.
However if you and any one else is willing we can organise it this Sunday. I can inform the village and the required people will be there.
Agenda- a) I suggest that we call the unemployed youth of the village i.e those who are studying but will need a job in near future or those who have stopped studies at a stage and now are looking for a job.
b) We can collect the data (name, age, qualification) and later can work on what can be done.
c) We can also guide them to the extent we can about the opportunities we know of.
Let it be an event for this Sunday, 5th Feb. All those willing to go can contact Ramesh or myself to co-ordinate.

Dear Navin, Ramesh and Shailendra

I spoke to a friend of mine who works in SRUTI, which is an organisation that works with and for the already active social workers in villages and remote areas all around India. They do not take up any projects but facilitate already active people and work through fellowships. One of the main activity is interaction with the youth. I liked their approach towards social change which is long term oriented and a change in the approach of people and not just opportunities available.

If you think it might be helpful, SRUTI's west Delhi fellows are willing to facilitate interaction with the youth in your next village visit. I dont know how appropriate that is since we are more likely to connect with the people than they will be since we come from the same background and speak the same language. But i think that some professional approach might be helpful. Also, an outside eye is more objective and solution oriented. Anyway, I leave it upto you. Maybe one idea could be that if you find time to speak to this friend of mine and see how this organisation can be of some benefit to the jan jagriti work.

Best wishes

Hi! Priti, Sorry for the delay. I was out to rimc, doon for a talk, just back.
Yes, please request the members from sruti to get in touch with us. After discussing with them we can decide in what ways we can work together to get better results.
As mentioned in the agenda for the visit on 12th Feb, we want to call all the young people – those who are studying will be advised on how to pursue their studies to get a better job in future. Those who are in need of work/job right now would be advised on possible options. We will also collect data on the qualifications/education level of the youth to brainstorm over later.

The Agenda for the visit on 12 Feb.: -
We are going to meet the youth in three categories.
a) Senior boys (10th onwards) who are studying would be advised about the courses/career options they can choose. They will be also advised about what to work on as far as studies are concerned.
b) Young men/boys who have stopped studies at some stage and are looking for job – we will try to advise them about possible options.
c) Senior Girls (10th onwards) who are studying – they can be guided and encouraged about their future options. Khushi will be there but if there can be some more female volunteers to talk to them it will be great.

Very specific to the Agenda mentioned above, we would request everyone to give inputs about the options that these youth (in the 3 categories) can have. In terms of vocational courses (metric, inter or grad level) or Job opportunities open to them.

In the 3 categories we will also collect data of the youth i.e. name, age and qualification, so that we can work on it later.

Kindly give inputs/advice on the points mentioned above.

Dear Navin,

Wonderful work getting underway.

May I request you and other members who are going for the next visit to also touch upon the issue of 'Controlling Anxiety & Fear', more so for students of Class X & XII as their annual exams are coming up. Those who have opted for CBSE have exams starting from the first week of Mar. In my view the career guidance could wait for a few weeks, till the exams are over. Also they could be told how to 'Manage Time' while answering questions for the exam, 'Neatness in Presentation' and related issues that I am sure worthy members of the team would be already aware of.

Keep at it.

Regards,

I agree with Jagmohanji's point. It would be more helpful for students appearing in board exams if quick tips for short-term goals are provided. And students themselves would be more keen in doing better in exams rather than planning long-term goals now... You cud talk to teachers if they cud spend extra time in helping students who run the chance of getting failed...

Good luck
Vinod

Respected Malik Sir and Vinod Bhai,
Yes, I agree too that the students who are giving boards can be advised. We will work on that too but we will also keep our agenda of talking to the young about career options and collecting the data because there are a large number of young who are not studying right now and employment is seen as a more important issue in the village.
My experience with the village kids is that they don’t take tension about studies because they don’t care as much as the city kids about studies. Yes, they can be advised about their studies and the need of good marks and how to get them.

Dear all,
Following spent their valuable time at Barhana on last Sunday motivating youths.

Navin and Khushi Gulia
Shailendra Tokas
Prof. Kadiyan and Mrs Kadiyan
Mother of Prof Kadiyan
Sumit Pawar
And self.

After Detailed discussions the shortlisted points of immediate attention are listed below. Suggestion/views and also contributions are welcome:---

1. Hiring a good English teacher for weekend classes at sidhanti bhawan.A good teacher will cost around 3000 pm and additional cost of books/notebooks/pen pencil will cost 50per head*50students=2500( one time expenditure). Hiring is important for maintaining continuity and for the success of the idea it is important to hire a good, interested person(we can employ some young jat student).. On top of it an independent volunteer from jat land can oversee the entire thing with dos and donts prepared with consensus and monitoring it. This is to be taken up immediately.
2. Setting up of library and benches and classroom at sidhanti bhawan. Can start working on expenditure and level to which the facilities can/should be provided. Off hand we can start by issuing books to 10th, 11th and 12th classes on returnable basis
3. Circulations of dailies , employment newspaper has started from this weekend.
4. Decided to visit the village every Sunday in batches, the details of which will be further taken up by Navin bhai . For the time being please volunteer by sending a mail by clicking on ADD CALENDER EVETS that U ARE AVIALABLE ON SO AND SO SUNDAY/SATURDAYS. Your name will appear in calendar events in a similar fashion that birthdays appear.

Please volunteer for the good cause and take initiative with your ideas. The photographs and more details would be further supplemented by Shailendra and Navin bhai. Over to them….

Thank you

Dear Friends,
Ramesh bhai, Shailendra bhai and professor Kadyan were able to motivate the young boys present with their long and patient interaction. (I was a little unwell so I did not take an active part) We analysed the feasibility of holding the classes. In addition to the points Ramesh bhai has put up.
1. A blackboard, note books and pens are a must for the classes. Khushi is already working on the lesson plans for these classes.
2. I am very keen on ‘interest generating’ in the kids. My motive is that the kids should love to come to the classes. I am thinking of screening some documentary/educational films in the hall at Sidhanti Bhawan. For the time being I intend to carry my desktop for the class but later on I plan to have a computer there itself for the purpose of showing interesting presentations to the kids, i.e. it will serve as an audio-visual aide.
3. The classes will have to be in 3 categories a) smaller children (upto 12yrs) b) Elder boys c) Elder girls.
4. All members are requested to contribute magazines and books for bringing up the library where children can have reading material. We all have so many old books and magazines lying with us which we no longer use. These can help bring up a library/reading room. You can send this stuff to my address Hno. 213, Sec – 14, Gurgaon – 122001, Haryana. If you live around Delhi, I don’t mind collecting it from your place. Besides your own stuff, you can collect from friends around as well.
5. I carried the goal posts for the new handball court (money contributed by Vireshwar Sir) that has been prepared. Coming Saturday, I intend to go there and arrange to organize 2 hours of sports everyday. The sports stuff will be brought to the playing fields (cricket pitch has been setup, bringing up volleyball courts also) everyday and the boys and girls can play a game of their choise.

Thanks and Regards to every one

Navin and Ramesh have already written everything!
English tutor, a computer and a small library are a must for the time being!
I can understand their (student’s) interest in having ‘sarkari naukari’ - after being in sports (that too being in Hand Ball games only!) and done their +2.

I was very much delighted by the presence of Prof. Jagbir Singh Kadyan and his family! A humble request was made to him and he was present there from his busy schedule (that’s the spirit Prof. Sahab!). Our very own Sumit Pawar was also with us (young gun and root-cause for all these happenings!).

To be frank, I may not be as educated as like you people, but dear Navin, Ramesh and others, you all will always find myself behind you, when needed!

Keep on this good work for our/backward community!

I will definitely post the pics available with me!

Thanks to one and all from JJ!!

Dear Navin, Ramesh and Shailendra

I spoke to a friend of mine who works in SRUTI, which is an organisation that works with and for the already active social workers in villages and remote areas all around India.
Also, an outside eye is more objective and solution oriented. Anyway, I leave it upto you. Maybe one idea could be that if you find time to speak to this friend of mine and see how this organisation can be of some benefit to the jan jagriti work.

Best wishes
Priti

Dear Priti,

Please let us in contact with the SRUTI people. Maybe, we can find a great help in them for our future endeavors!

I am in constant touch with Bhupender Ahlawat as well!

Thanks!

PS: So, Priti, you are ‘back to your business’ after some promises dear :)

Shailender Bhai as i asked u b4 also that r u guys going to register the Jat Jagriti or not.

Abhimanyu Phougat

Dear Abhimanyu,

We are surely in the process of registering the same!

Only the thing is – we (or maybe, myself!) are trying to please everyone in the process, but without success (it has already been 4-5 months now - since we planned to register it!)!!

One more thing getting us delayed now is using ‘Jat’ or ‘Jan’ in the title?

Although, both are fine with me!

Hope to do the same in the coming month!

Love and regards!

Shailender bhai

Actually i was curious to know abt this cos that we are planning to conduct the national Rural convention in oct. 2006 and i am feeling that we can conduct under the Jan jagriti if it get registered up to the time which will solve our lot of problems like getting any permission from the govt. We are planning to get most of the well educated and responsible persons from our rural areas in this convention and my plans are to add maximum Sarpanchas in this convention. This will really help us in achieving our motto. Well so when the work for registration will be done lets us know and then we can go ahead with all the processings.
Together we can really create the difference. Well done for last sunday visit.

Dear Shailendra Bhai, it was your enthusiasm that inspired me to jump in.
As for work, pleasing every one is not possible. The work will suffer. We can just go ahead with the work. 'Jan Jagriti' has a better appeal in villages so we can decide on it straight away. After all it is more important to take the work forward.
Shailendra bhai, whatever is the need/requirement regarding the registration of Jan Jagriti, please put it up here so that we can do the required.
If some funds need to be contributed towards registration and to begin, we should contribute it. Since you are doing all the work on registration, you will have to guide us on that.
We will soon have a page for 'Jan Jagriti' where we will post pics and details of events and activities as also the details of fund collected and spent for maintaining transparency.

Warm Regards
Navin Gulia

Dear friends,

Mr. Nitin Dahiya has kindly consented to extend all the help needed to set up an interactive discussion here on jatland as the NGO wing of the jatland and to start with the following link is set up( some of u may find difficuty accessing it and it will be refined as we go along). He along with some more people have also agreed to support it financially as the tutor/ libarary needs urgent attention.

http://www.jatland.com/home/Jan_Jagriti

Navin bhai we can take up the English tutor immediately and can work on shorlisting candidate for that and simillarly enrolment of the students.

Its wonderful of Nitin Bhai to have extended his full support to the cause.
The 'Jan Jagriti' page will take a few days to take shape. It would have the latest on events and plans.
As for the classes to begin, i was keen to have a small event to begin with. Something that can attract the children to come. Thats why i was thinking of screening a documentary/film that can awe inspire them.
Yes, I will talk to them today itself for recruiting the tutor. I think for a salary of 3,000 we can find a good tutor, who can spare 4-5hrs on all sundays and gazzeted holidays.
I think we should start the proper classes from next weekend and in the meantime we can work on in to make it a good start. In the meantime we can work on putting everything in place i.e black board, stationary, library, tutor and maybe a desktop too.

Dear Shailendra

I did send the contact info to Navin and Ramesh. I will send it to you too. Hope your association with them is fruitful. I have already explained our initiative to the contact person there. I am sorry I have not been as active (its hard to be away and active) but I regularly visit the thread and keep updated with the latest. I am genuienly very happy that things are going so well.

Best wishes
Priti

P.S.: I think Bhupinder is a very 'junooni' person and if he sets his mind to things he can bring some change. Would you have his contact info. (email)?

Dear Priti,

Please let us in contact with the SRUTI people. Maybe, we can find a great help in them for our future endeavors!

I am in constant touch with Bhupender Ahlawat as well!
