CHANDIGARH: The German automobile giant, Volkswagen, has expressed desire to invest Euro 300 million (Rs. 1,500 crores) in Haryana to set up its project to manufacture about one lakh cars annually. A seven-member delegation of Volkswagen led by Peter Wolters met the Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister and Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation Chairman, M.L.Tayal, here on Wednesday and discussed various aspects of the proposed project. If implemented, the project would generate direct employment for about 2,500 people and indirect employment for several others. Mr. Tayal urged the delegation to visit various locations in Haryana to see for themselves infrastructure and other facilities available to various industrial units. The other senior officers present in the meeting included Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Industries, P.K.Chaudhary, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Power, R.N.Prasher, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Excise and Taxation, L.S.M.Salins and HSIDC Managing Director Rajeev Arora.
