Dear Friends,
I am opening this thread for all of us to post suggestions to our politicians. May be some of our suggestions will reach to those who matter. Here is my first suggestiuon which I got after reading the following link;
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2006\01\20\story_20-1-2006_pg4_1
If Americans can make such very important announcements about their policy matters in front of students and professors, why our politicians don't involve Indian students and acadmecia ? Why our politicians can't go to universities and engage our best young minds in debating important issues.
Without calling names, let us debate issues of regional, national and international importance and post our views under this thread. We might ask our politicians as how often they discuss the matter with the very people or communities for which the schemes are devised ? No wonder most often all these schemes fail as these are not based on ground realities. Take for example the case of Haryana proposing to establish the education city. Has Haryana government debated all the alternatives? There are many such issues which merit intense public debate.

Why our politicians can't go to universities and engage our best young minds in debating important issues.
How many of our politicians have been to universities for higher learning ?
How many of them are intellectually and academically endowed to be able to face the intellegentia ?

As our Indian political system is very corrupt but still there are few leaders who cares for masses. Now u asked abt suggestions so it is a bit difficult task. We see politicians saying big words but dont apply those wordings on themselves. Currently if we see The structure of Hooda govt. in Haryana most of them are well educated so it means Haryana govt. is not illitrate atleast. But there is one problem in Indian politics when some get some portfolio than he/she thinks themselve that they are big bosses now and no need to meet the community people. It gets hard for people even to meet these kind of politicians. So it is very neccessary to fill this gap and that is only possible when our ministers think themselve that they are by the people, and for the people. I have so many cases regarding this and recently i have one when our one big leader( i dont want to mention name) who is on big positionin haryana govt. said one of his follower when his follower asked abt some small work abt the constituency people and leader said " Mere toh 90 Halke hain" . So wht u can say in this regard.
So i beleive people need some more powers but unfortunately we dont have much upto 5yrs.
Only one suggestion to politicians " Keep ur words and dont think urself big cos its only public who decide ur future so just be in direct contact and try to solve the problems of each indiavidual"

Sampuran bhai, you may be right to some extent in your observation about educational background of our politicians but a good percentage of younger generation of politicians have fairly good academic background. A good number of them are graduates, which should be sufficient to interact with academicians.
It is also depends on willingness and openness on the part of the participating politicians
I wonder how the Haryana govt.came up with idea of Overseas Placement Assistance society. I fully do not doubt the sincerity of the government decision that neither has a single academician as its member nor they any coordination with universities in the formation of that society.
It is not only that politicians come to universities occasionally to make speeches and interact with students but also a formal link should be established between various ministries, govt departments and universities. Almost all universities have departments of Economics, Finance, Rural Development, and Public Administration etc. These universities churn out hundreds of PhDs and M.Phils every year. Their research can be authentic and of some credibility only if the data used by the research scholars is genuine. And the genuine data can be ascertained only with a formal and continuous linkage with development agencies. Then the Findings of the research can be used in policy making.
But in reality the politicians would be scared to interact with honest intellectuals. In that case, a panel of specialist can brief and help the politicians before a formal debate. But the big question remains, if, when and how it is going to happen.

Deshwal Bhai
The point is not about degree but knowledge. It is vast and expanding in every field. How many times have we heard objective debates or questions being asked in the Sansad or Assemblies ? How many politicians from the Jatland have ehhibited a decent level of calibre to articulate issues ?

Most successive governments at centre and state level ignored comprehensive education policy. New educational institutions were started at the cost of existing ones as no additional budget was made available. Result has been the decay of our world class universities like Allahabad, BHU and 100s of more. Vast infrastructure of existing universities was allowed to decay. Same is continueing till day and there is no hope that anyone is thinking of adding life into our university system. If India or aor for that matter any state wish to become number one, it has to use it educational resources most effectively. Adding new infrastructure without utilising the existing one is not going to help as most of the faculty will simply change place and end result will not be any better.

v take jambudwipa 2 b identical with india n search fr the solutions here as if whole world is here n here only. The puranas explicitly say that bharat varsha is only varsha, meaning a part, of jambudwipa. maharaja bharat was 2 great n not 2 b compared with this geographical land.
u must've heard of dakshita kurus (southern kurus) in haryana area. n uttara kurus (northern kurus) in the north of meru parvata (pamirr moutains). The madras (modern punjab) n there r uttara madra (northern madra) people. the pakhtoons/pashtoons are in kabul/kandhar area right since the period of rigveda; n yet the Assyrian king Sargon-1 was fighting the "Uttara-pashtoon" in their city of Purushkhanda in Cappadocia in third millenium BC. We have a river called kuru(sh) or kur in the west of Caspian sea, and an area called Kourupedion (the land of Kurus) in the west of present Iraq, exactly like Kurukshetra (the land of Kurus) in india. this land of kurus was reserved fr fighting purposes by jats till 1761, the third battle of paniputt.
All these facts, along with some other facts n notices, pin-point the fact that the lands of Uttara Kurus, Uttara Madras, Uttara Pashtoons were in the region of Caspian n Black seas.
In fact jats were at the centre those times in this land from uttara kurus to dakshina kurus. like they r 2day from indus in the west 2 ganges n chambal in the east.

Former IB officer links a CM to ISI
NEW DELHI: The Intelligence Bureau had put a reigning chief minister of a north Indian state under scanner following suspicions of links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The startling revelation has been made by Maloy Krishna Dhar, an IPS officer who had a three-decade-long stint with the intelligence agency, in a book to hit the stands soon. Dhar, who was involved with counter-intelligence operations, said the CM belonging to a non-Congress outfit had to be put under surveillance “for maintaining questionable clandestine links” with ISI.
Dhar’s earlier book "Open Secrets: India’s Intelligence Unveiled" created ripples in many circles with revelations about the extensive network of CIA and KGB among the political class, as well as political espionage including the phone-tapping IB was asked to do.
In his fresh offering Fulcrum of Evil: ISI-CIA-Al Qaeda Nexus, Dhar, a former IB joint director, has not named the chief minister, saying simply that he was someone from "Central-Northern India", and, importantly, still in office. When pressed, however, he said that the person concerned is from a north Indian state, and does not belong to Congress.
While Dhar refused to be drawn out, his assertion that the chief minister in question does not belong to Congress represents a clean chit to the heads of Congress-ruled states of J&K, Himachal, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttaranchal. Asked about the reluctance to name names, Dhar said: ‘‘I won’t be able to prove it in the court if the person concerned files a suit. Do you think the IB would reveal the operational as well as other details to the court?’’
'10 MLAs, 2 MPs in Assam linked to ISI'
NEW DELHI: According to former IB joint director Maloy Krishna Dhar, ISI's efforts to extend its network has been helped by reluctance of intelligence fraternity to call a spade a spade when it comes to identifying Pakistan's contacts among politicians.
In his book, he said: "This process continues unabated as Indian intelligence fraternity fights shy of political top guns as they are not sure who will be the next boss in Delhi."
Shar refers to a CM while discussing the success of ISI in acquiring assets among politicians.
"In Central-Northern India, Pakistan had achieved spectacular success in penetrating over a dozen legislators and a provincial CM, who had come under the scanner for maintaining questionable clandestine links."
He says the links were deep and not restricted to mere interactions over National Day celebrations or iftar get-togethers.
"Reasonable suspicion had arisen about funnelling of funds by the Kuwaiti, Iranian and Pakistan embassies to such politicians from this region," he says.
He has also talked about ISI's penetration in West Bengal, saying the agency had developed links with half a dozen legislators, as well as leaders of trade unions and students' unions.
Dhar says those linked with ISI in Assam included 10 legislators and two ministers. Talking of Bihar, he said Kathmandu-based ISI agents had befriended four legislators and a minister.
He also said ISI operatives also helped bring together certain gangs of criminals operating in Nepal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Its heartening to read the words like, "Politicians now a laughing stock of people" from Sonia Gandhi.

Everyone knows how many of our politicians have made politics like business and accumulated huge amount of wealth. One can trust the words from Sonia GANDHI to a large extent that she spoke from the bottom of her heart.

Rajenderji,
What you say aboutRahul Gandhi's 'maiden speech'? Although he was reading a written speach but looked confident and at ease . He brought out some good point too, specially on his induction in cwc. i can't say anything about his leadership qualities at this stage but appreciate what he had to say:

Deshwal Sahab,
Most politicians talk good things but rarely translate them into reality. Talking in drawing room is different than talking among public. Ground reality is that none of these young politicians have made any impact so far on the ground. Rahul Gandhi made some initial noise against Mulayam Singh, but was silenced quickly. I don't see guts in him which one would expect if he has to lead the nation some day. I am loosing all hopes in congress till it depends upon communists for its supports. Communists are extracting maximum price from congress government and spreading their tentacles every where. If India has to face China, we need nationalistic government in India. Communists will never let us become strong enough to take head on against China. Except in few states, congress has lost touch with the masses. Congress is hardly a force in UP and Bihar.

Going by the track record of the Government, there is 180 degree difference what Sonia Gandhi says and what actually happens.
Was she talking about herself and her own party at large when she made that observation ?

Amidst hectic political Horse Trading in karnatka, the CM Dharam Singh has become 'shayarana' saying,"jab Sikander chala duniya se dono haath khali the".MLAs led by Devgoda's son were shown singing shamelessly in a pool in Goa. Buta's admission that he would abide by the Supreme Court's verdict but shamessly claims that he need not to resign and would take the salute on Republic Day.
Worst news, a congress worker in Patiala set himself on fire. The worker got frustrated with the Local MP's( Amrinder's Wife) 'inaction'.
This all shows the sorry state of Indian Polity. But there is also some hope. There is a news that some IITians form a political party:

Its a great move on the part of these five young guys. India needs nationalist political party today and not the antinational CM like the one reported in the news;
http://www.dawn.com/2006/01/24/int5.htm
We have communists who oppose every move of PM and then we have Advani who won't mind licking the feet of Jinnah even in his grave. Then we have Uma Bharti, Mayawati brand who talk nothing but utter nonsense. I will be the last person to trust our ex-rulars like Amrinder Singh, Natwar Singh, Schindhias, VP Singh etc as they were the ones who supported British. We need people who are truely committed to make India super power.

Deswal Sir
These five guys seems to be enthusiastic on this but do u think five people can turn this party to a national party i think it is very hard to get through all this process , im not questioning the zeal of these individuals and i appreciate that what they have give up for this but still i beleive its hard like Sania mIrza win a Grand Slam three times in a row. Well political Situations u mentioned here are not new for India and time to time these situations occur for forming a govt.
