Proper breast feeding can save 1,67,000 infant deaths per year
In India only 43 percent of mothers exclusively breastfeed their babies for the first 6 months.Optimal breastfeeding protects infants against infections.Using PROFILES, it has been estimated that through its effect on diarrohea and respiratory tract infections, sub optimal breast feeding results in over 1,67,000 infants deaths every year. Can we think of peventing these preventable deaths?
