Need Some Advice

Hello All,
I am BE Computer Sc and Engineering and working from last 5 years in Application Software and Embeded devices. I am from an agriculture based family. I want to start some work/business in parallel with my job. that may be something like work from home or some other work. I don not know how to proceed to get some work. I can handle the developement team. I am open to fair suggessions. Please suggest what and how to start.

Dear Vipin,

First of all understand the dynamics of market. Being software engineer is one thing and selling your skills in open market is another. I will list the steps you can follow;

1. Know about the companies where your existing company is selling the end products.
2. Identify the key people in those companies who make decisions.
3. Try to know these people at personal level and impress them as a good inetlligent human being. Don't talk of business with them staright away.
4. As you know them, you will realise slowly that many of those key men also want to have side business and slowly they will start talking to you. May be some of them will invite to become partner if they really like you.
5....once you reach that level in relationship, things will follow automatically....

Congrats! u have taken a very a big step in the right direction. Aaj socha hai to kal ho bhi jayega.

First thing u need to do is to set ur priorities and final goal...personal goal and financial goal.
Then u have to make a plan to how to acheive it.

I beleive u have started to think of somethink different, but still vague of what exactly and how exactly u want to do.

What do u like doing? kheti or tech devlopment ? Do u want to be an entrepreneur or just want to make some extra "pocket" money ? Make a fair and truthfull assesment abt urself...what r u good at? managing ppl? visualising products? programming? research ? will u make a good salesperson etc?

Hi Anil,
Thanks for ur advice. I want to start from earning some extra money apart from my job by mean of working part time or to start some small business related to software. I do not want to invest much in the starting.
I am good in programming and research...and i am not a good salesperson. I can manage a team of ppl, as currently i am doing the same.
I guess most of the members on this sites are from abroad and they can give some good advice. I do not mean that ppl residing in india are fool but you ppl may have better idea...apne paas sab teherh ke jaat hain software engineer, testing engineer, mechnical engineer, consultant, siphai, Security agent, teacher aur bhot se khalee...i want to make all of them busy to avoid them to fight with each other...khalee dimag shaitaan ka ghar..
per sabke liye kaam nahi hain...

To start part time, look at these 2 websites:

there are many others, u can look it up on the web.

In the backgrnd u can also start thinking for long term. For example, start to think abt a product u would like to make. Start writing down all the ideas u get, dont let them go, write it down. Also, start doing some research on how u would implement ur project X, who will be the customers, how much do u think the investment will cost. I am pretty much sure, if u can invest some time and talent, other resources will follow.
