Sabnai Ram Ram....
I am startig this thread to share views on jealousy. Why and when do we feel jealous? I had started thinking that i dont feel jealous of anyone after i took Deekhsha from an Ashram In Faridabad, though that had definitely brought a positive change in my personality to great extent but sometimes i still feel jealous. I first felt jealous of my friend Geeta as she bought a mobile phone before i could buy one....that had made me so restless that soon after that i went to Delhi and i bought a lot better mobile than she owned and sice then i always had better handset than hers. Second time i felt Jealous again with Geeta, when i visited her new FLAT to reveal that her flat was slightly better than mine. But i told her honestly that i am feeling jealous of you BUT at the same time I prayed GOD to give her immense happiness/peace/success because she had gone through lot of pain in her life. I dont know if she belived me or not but i felt that the agonised jealousy was taken over by my Prayer to GOD for her. Did any of you felt jealous of anybody at any point of time....Please share:)

Hi! Sunita
jeleaousy is a very basic human tendency. If som e one says he never feels jeleaous, he is lying. I think it has roots in the oldest law of competition for survival of fittest.
Having said that having evolved man has discovered feelings like compassion and caring. Therefore, while feeligs of jeleaousy coming in is normal, we give more importance to better emotions.
Jeleaousy in extremes is the reason of crime. Pramod Mahajan's case is a latest example.

Why and when do we feel jealous?
According to me we feel jealous due to our inferiority complex. Jealeousy is a pretty simple stage of mind which comes to play whenver we feel inferior against anyone's action/reaction which we might not like (Due to the latter's better performance/action/reaction) against our's.
Lack of self-trust result lack of self-confidence which results Inferior feelings. Inferior feelings result jealousy which results Anger and we know that root of all evil is Anger.
So avoid jealousy.

Dear Friends,
Jealousy can be used positively and could motivate people to work harder too. It can lead to achievement of unfulfilled dreams.
I know you won't believe it but I have never been jealous in life. May be as a small child I may have been so but not in my adult life, never. I have never felt that "Mere pass ye kyon nahin hai vo kyon nahin hai". I don't know why but I feel happy when I see people who are better than me, more powerful, educated & what not. May be it has something to do with some sort of determination to live life in a certain manner. This scope here does not give me liberty to give examples but I believe I have never been jealous. And I have been indeed lucky to have a life partner who has never shown any kind of indication that she is jealous. She feels happy when she meets women who are more beautiful, able, educated or accompalished.
Ho sakta hai bhai ya koi bimari ho, but we are never jealous.

JS Malik

I am happy to say that I have never felt jealous of anybody since I was 16 or 17, and I also try my best to not make anyone feel jealous. I find jealousy very negative and honestly I dont find anything that can make me jealous because I believe I can get whatever I want and that does it for me.
Although, I have found many people close to me getting bothered by me not being jealous of anything. For example, they say that look at so and so, he/she has done this or that and what are you upto? but such things never seem to work on me. I am just happy by the fact that I know what and who I am and that is good enough for me to not feel jealous of anyone.
Cheers,
ritu

To me jelousy is an inspiration, a motivation, which forces me to work better.
For Instance -
When i was in school, from 7th to 10th , i was the Debating Champion of the school. But i had a friend called Alpna, and she always used to give me a fight back.
If she comes to know that Vikas is going to this competition or taking part in this inter-house debate, she also used to do the same. And by god's grace i used to win.
Once, In an inter-house debate, i lost unfortunately because at the end i said a line opposite to the motion (due to confusion).
As a result Alpna WON by half mark, but i took it as a challange, and after that day never turned back and won each and every competition.
So Jelousy is a constructive factor, provided u let it construct u .

I don't think so either!
You would never emulate someone you are jealous of! For success you need a 'source of inspiration and motivation' apart from the hard work and off course luck sometimes..:)

Hi sunita mam
really nice thread.................!!!
I think its right that somewhere we feel jealous and hats-off to all those who says they never feel jealous because its not that easy to always feel satisfied.
Truly speaking i feel jealous but yes never for materialistic things and they are like ups and down you will never know how long materialistic things are with you.
I still remember i feel so jealous and sometimes even got angry when in any competition mostly the first prize winners are those who speak their debate in hindi and later also been told that after all they work more hard. This hapenns with me 3 times this year even in youth festival, i was ranked second because according to judges hindi speakers can make their point more clear and they are given more weightage. At that point of time i feel so jealous.
But yes now not jealous on kiddish things which i used to be in junior school , like i used to be so jealous when any of my friend or competotor got even half marks more . And yes still very jealous with those who have good handwriting because even after trying so hard though now marks are not deducted for writing but never able to write in good hand writing.

Megha tumhari marks wali baat se ek kissa aur yaad aaya....i was in 11th and had Fine-Arts as a subject, i scored 9/10 in sketch and another jealous girl insisted the Lecturer to give her 1/2 mark more to equalize with me as she had 8.5 marks so then i rushed to the lecturer and i convinced him to give me 1/2 more and she couldn't be equal to me and i got 10/10 mand she had 9/10:) in the last the lecturer scolded that girl for being jealous of me:cool: Hi sunita mam

hi sunita
through this thread i got to know a little about you very clearly....i never felt jealous on such things but i really feel happy when one reaches higher than me and like to join that person in his/her happiness...but that also is not true that one can never be jealous of anyone....and virender singh rathee is exaclty corret at his point that girls are more jealous as compared to boys...even girls become boastful very soon as compared to boys as it's in girls' nature....but only few girls can overcome this inferior complex....it all depends on one's upbringing....now coming back to your point again.....i also felt jealous only once in my life till now but not on any such little things....i'm jealous of one girl....i don't know her but i'm jealous of her as due to her i'm not getting fulfilled my wish.....but if atlast i won't get what i want then i'll stop feeling jealous of her......as that would be her good luck but not mine:)
