Hi all,

For those who are in east coast area and want to run Marine Corps marathon(Oct 29th, 2006 in Washington DC) registeration opened yesterday and its 30000 or more spots can be filled anytime today or tomorrow. Call me at 240-620-4807 if you have questions. Fee is 94$.

http://www.marinemarathon.com/

I am putting this notice here becuase we want to run this as NAJC fund raising marathon. So far we have only 2 runners but are hopeful to pull in more. I should have described the whole process well before the deadline notice:-), I will post details later when we start compaign and training.
Last time I was preparing for Chicago marathon but had my toe's bone broken the month before the D-day and cudn't do anything for couple of months.

This post is not to convince anybody to run (actually nobody can be convinced for marathon, either you run or you don't, there is no try in that) but this post is a notice for those who want to run, have already something like this back in mind and need support group for training; though chances for finding such Jats in the region is slim but you never know.

Flyer for NAJC marathon can be seen here

Vinod

I am going to call/sent email to everyone who had, during the last NAJC meeting in December, said “Yes” to your idea of running a marathon for NAJC.

I have to admit that your enthusiasm is infectious; let’s hope a few more on this site get infected and join in raising funds for this wonderful organization.

A very sincere thanks, from everyone at NAJC, to you for your efforts!!!

Thanks to Sanjay Roparia for registering for Marine Corps marathon! Now we 2 runners confirmed. Jatin is not in States right now so he is mostly going to miss Marine Corps marathon. But there is Philadelphia marathon on 19th Nov. (http://www.philadelphiamarathon.com/) whose registering remains open until August or September and he may run in that. We will try to reach Jat communities in other regions too and runners can run in any marathon or half-marathon in his/her locality under the banner of combined effort of NAJC.
People generally get scared by looking at figure of 26mi, but its not that hard to achieve this goal. The most important factor is mental strength and regularity in training. Those can run 4-5mi at any given day are capable for completing the marathon through training. And half-marathons (13mi) are relatively much easier to complete and these races happen everywhere in US. So if you are interested you can look up for races in your local region in google to make up your mind and let us know.
Thanks Kapoor for support.

Dear Vinod:
Be careful and dont hurt urself before the actual run....i mean it.
Most ppl who saw me in past know that i was 243 pounds last summer and a little planning and exercising has brought it down to 216. So by any means the tolerance of my body is better but still not there for exposure to marathon. However i feel that the ability of my body to bear the wear and tear will improve once i hit under 200 pounds. And i would be glad to join you then.
Best wishes,
Anmol.
