Dear Community Members,
Many of you already know about the North American Jat Charity and its contribution to the cause of community. You will all be happy to know that the North American Jat Charity now has its own web site at www.najatcharities.org (http://www.najatcharities.org/) thanks to the hard work done by Shikha, Kapoor Singh and Harish Dhayal. You all are requested to visit this web site.
The purpose of this post is to make the entire community aware of this organization, its functioning and what it brings for the community. Let me discuss some of the issues that may be of interest to you all.
The Organization:
Most of the information about the organization is posted on its web site. I am discussing the reasons for this organization's existence. We have a very vibrant and active organization functional at the East Coast called Association of Jats in America (AJA) NE Chapter. All Jat families make to the two get to gathers organized every year, first the annual Picnic organized in July and second the Diwali Function organized in November. AJA essentially is a social organization and did not give members opportunities to contribute charitable giving to the community back home taking the tax-exempt benefits for the contributions. Thus, with the hard work of our founding members this organization was created.
The Purpose of this Post:
Any organization is as strong as its members are. While we do have a large membership, we need to grow and in times to come become a pioneer organization to help our community. Any organization of this nature usually takes off with large contributions from small group of members. I personally feel that small contributions from large number of members makes an organization more strong.
Let me assure you I am not requesting for any contributions from any one for the organization through this post for it is each individual’s own call to do so. What I am requesting is that members should visit the web site, know about this organization and if they feel, that it is some thing they would like to join, do let me know about it. I personally feel that most community members located on the East Coast may like to join this organization and help the community by advising us with their views.
NAJC Meetings:
NAJC holds two meetings each year for the purpose of discussing the progress made, new projects taken and deciding about the scholarships that it provides. It is not necessary to be member of NAJC to attend these meetings. Any one can whether he/she is member or not can attend these meetings. It will be a good idea to attend at least one meeting and have first hand knowledge of this organization. The next meeting will take place in December. I have volunteered to organize this meeting. The date is not yet finalized. It will be a lunch meeting starting around 11:00 A.M. Usually the meeting and lunch all together take about 3 to 4 hours of time. I am sure; we all can spare this much time for the community. The next meeting will take place at "Crown Of India" Restaurant at Plainsboro, NJ. It is close to Exit 8A of turnpike.
I request you all to make it a big success. Let us learn what the community members are doing for the community and contribute our bit for the success of this organization.
I thank you all for taking time to read this post, give your comments and visiting the web site of NAJC.

Dear all,

The purpose of posting this thread was to ascertain as to how many members have been able to see the website for the NAJC and to know if any one had any comments to make or wanted to become the member of this great organization.

Well, 34 views and no comments says it all.

Thanks a lot to them who took time off their busy schedule to read this thread.

Please do let us know if any thing needs to be done to improve the web site and please do spread the word in the Jat Community about the help available to needy bright students to pursue their academic advancement.

Dear Tewatia sir,

Although it is too early to say this, but i could not hold my eagerness.
JANJAGRITI,(pioneered by Navin Gulia ) being registered as NGO is another step towards what u stated above. Since it is logical to affiliate or cooperate for simillar goals adding advantage of the later being closer to the home.
I would reguest u to ask for a consensus there and formaly associate both together.

On a personal note i have been following NAJC and found it a delighting ray of hope for jats.Sh Ram Arya ji has been kind enough to enquire about the efforts putin by JANJAGRITI and of the view that it should be registered ASAP, which has been since done.

regards,

Dear Ramesh Ji,
We are very much aware about Janjagrati. It is good that the organization has been registered as suggested by Arya ji. We are looking forward to as to how both organizations can help the community.
It is good that you are members of Janjagrati.
The request of membership of NAJC is mainly for the people who are living in US as at this point of time I really don't know if the bylaws permit membership to outside US members. I personally feel that if some one want to become member of this Organization and does not live in US, we can always discuss bylaws and make accomodation for that.
I am pretty sure that this message has been viewed by community members in US also.

Tavathia sir,
I was actually trying to open the site a few weeks back but was unable to do so , the projects that your ( since I am not a member yet) organisation has undertaken are certainly commendable. I would like to become a member & will explore the website during next few days and would like to become a member before Summer picnic.

Dear Vinod,

Yes, Shikah has done a very good job. I don't know how user friendly this website is at this time? for I am not a tech expert. You all may give suggestions to Shikha in case some thing needs to be done.

The meeting did go very well, though this time attendence was a bit low, it being a long weekend and a few key members unable to make it due to sickness. I wish all of them speedy recovery and a very good health.

Regarding publicity, we do need to do that. Many people who would like to be part of the organization do not understand the difference between AJA and NAJC. That has been the sole purpose of this post.

Any person who want to become the member of NAJC can contact me. It will be my honor to guide them achieve their charitable goals.

You and Anmol are doing a good job, Keep it up. See you all at Picnic.

Tawathia Saab,

What initiative would you suggest for Canada on the same lines as NAJC especially for the west side.

Tawathia Saab,

Dear Amit JI,

The NAJC is a charitable organization and you can sponsor any project in India of your choice through NAJC. So to that extent one does not have to be physically present for the charitable contribution. NAJC holds two meetings of its members, usually one in December and another in April/May. About a month before the General Meeting, the scholarship committee meets to discuss the applications received. During the general body meeting, usually minutes of the previous meetings are discussed, Progress reports on various projects is given and the accounts are discussed. Every thing is transparent. At this meeting some one can also join the NAJC. Any Jat can attend these meetings whether or not he/she is a member of this organization.

Thus the NAJC is truely a charitable organization helping students and institutions back home.

Now comes the AJA. AJA is essentially a social organization that brings all the Jat Community members living in a geographical area together. AJA has its various chapters. There is no membership fee for this organization. The two chapter which are active (As per my knowledge) are the NE Chapter of which I have the honor to be the current President, and the Mid West Chapter which conducted its one of the meetings on 27th May 2006 at Chicago.

I am sure there are community people on the west coast who must be getting to gather, but I don't have any information about it. I will try my best to bring the entire Jat Community together in the US and Canada. I hope together we all can make difference in the life of our younger people back home.

We all have to rise above our personal ego and have to be unselfish to work for the community. Any position one holds is meaningless unless it is supported by rank and files. We all need to contribute our suggestions and have a good discussion on the subjects and once a consensus is achieved we all need to follow that in letter and spirit in a true democratic tradition.

More often than not the problem arises when we belive in the dictum "MY Way or NO Way" those are the trouble waters.

Regarding finding people in your area, we need to publish some information in the local news papers. Actually Jatland.com itself is a wonderful plateform to get people together.

Let us work together to organize a chapter in your area as well. I can assure my full support and cooperation in your effort to bring the community together on West Coast in Canada.
