Just wanted to see what do our Jatlanders think are the top 10 careers in and outside India. This thread is especially dedicated to all those who are students, graduating soon, and parents of the above said, looking for a change or may be even those who are retiring soon...doesn't that include everybody?...well almost!

I will compile my list as well as we go along.

My top five (according to earnings)

1. Bussiness Tycoon (Ambanis, Mittal etc.) whatever one's field may be.
2. Successful Politician (CM, PM etc.) count their black money
3. Stock Broker (Kind of market king like Mehta)
4. Top Rated Sport Personality (Sachin, Sania, Anand etc.)
5. Cinema Superstar (Amitabh, Sharukh, Hrithik, Ash etc.)

Ofcourse there are plenty of other options also but the above five will remain ahead when it comes to bank balance.

In India:

MBA (Finance)
MBA (Marketing)
Engineers (Computer Science)
Engineers (Electronics and or Communications)
Engineers (Merchant Navy)
Engineers (Chemical)
Physicians
Dentists
Veterinarians
Mass Comm

I remember in 1991 there was a survey done by TOI and ARMY did not make it in the top 10 list. I never wanted to choose army as my career but several of my sainik school mates made it to armed forces (mostly army). Those who had the option (short service) opted out later and those who are permanent keep whining about it.

This is what it was in my opinion almost 15 years ago in India when I was hunting for a career and it looks like I have not thought out of the box here at all as to what it could be now.

i would like to add dat after my 10+2 i did tried 4 commercial pilot
but after reaching flying institute i found dat one can not get job just after comltion of his flying course , he must have a good experience of hundreds of hours which can be done through air force only

so if anyone is interested in commercial pilot., he have to join air force and after short service , he can go airlines

right after completing d course- it IS tuff 2 get a job, but thn, u hv to go on training- mostly abroad- on different aircrafts- dat adds to ur flyin hours(U NEED 200 HRS- EARLIER TWAS 250)- its nt dat u hv to join :D airforce
plus, u need to b CAT-2 trained
basically CAT1
n abroad- CAT 3 is required, depending on d visibility range.
