Dear friends,

I am starting this thread where we can discuss new emerging trends in Indian politics. I notice a news trend lately, which is becoming almost like a wave. Earlier politicians used to have stakes in businesses, now business people have started entering parliament through Rajya Sabha. Just giving donations to political parties and then living at their mercy for support no longer satisfies businessman. They want to pay upfront and take the membership of Rajya Sabha. They all know that very few of them can win Lok Sabha seats. Every established business house is posting their CEO in parliament to look after its interest. Some sort of joint ventures are taking place between business houses and politicians. We have Ambani, Rahul Bajaj, Vijay Mallya, KK Birla, Amar Singh and hoards of others in parliament. New axis of politicians, businessman, film personalities and gangsters has emerged in open now and sharing power directly. People who are left out and are desperate, are joining groups like People war group, Maoists etc to strike some sort of balance in power sharing.

I would be interesting to see which way the equilibrium shifts in the power structure during coming years. Share of hard-core politicians in this game is shrinking day by day. Its emerging more like a Mandi where shares in power will be traded like in stock market. I can see a new trend of globalisation emerging in politics.

Its just not the poiltics i guess.......these changin trends are apparent in every sphere nowadays coz everything is so intimately correlated that its hard to segregate one from the other. Its more about give n take policy....

No doubts phenomenon of globalisation is one of the greatest contributing factors to this......besides that its the ever increasing quench for power which earlier was confined to a strata totally belonging to the so called leaders of the masses.......but now in the era of commercialisation nothin matters really and everyone tries to poke their nose into somethin other than what he is really not identified with....coz they have nothin to loose infact have substantial chances to gain somethin they never ever dreamt of...

POWER AND MONEY...both of these identify so well with each other.

Terms like development at grassroot level .....creating employment opportunities......rural development etc etc have taken a back seat rather religion.......money......criminalisation......big business houses....have almost taken over everythin.....why politics be left as an exception???

No wonder if we see somethin unusual happening in the future too coz the game of power and money can go to any extent to prove their might!!

Sukhda

Well RK Sir and Sukhda,

I would like to define about this new trend in politics as commercializaion of politics. The good days are gone when politicians were considered as the people who think about the upliftment of the people in their area.

Nowdays, people just want to enter politics to achieve their goals regarding money and power. The basic thinking about about the upliftment of the people, rural development, unemployment problems is just a thing of lectures and money and power gain is the priority.

Some politians play the game of castism too, the worse face of politics i suppose.

May GOD bless India.

Dear memebers

I rekon this trend is not new we had some Business people in politics before also but yes we can say that getting a Rajya Sabha seat in exchange of money is really a new trend and its a good bargain for rich people and also for parties but not for the country. As we all know Industrialist and bollywood stars have no time to sit in Rajya Sabha than why they occupy one seat they have to think abt this.
Recentlt Anil Ambani have resigned from Rajya Sabha and i think he did the right thing so other members who are not able to spend time for upliftment of their constituency they have no right to stay in politics. Even in Lok sabha we have few members who never visited their constituency after elections and perfect example is Bolywood star Dharmendra from Bikaner constituency dont have time even to look after the matters of his constituency. But there are many more in this list.
Now we have to wake up and try to educate the people to not vote for such people.

I agree. Indian voters need to be educated about such people who enter politics temporarily and without any real motivation to serve public. These film personalities are contributing hardly anything and there are quite a few of them now. Like compulsory attendance for exams, all such politicians should be barred for re-elections unless they log minimum attendance in parliament and visit their constituencies.
