Dear Friends,

Its really heartening to read how Late Capt Umrao Singh's family members are protecting his Victoria Cross which is worth at least Rs. 60.00 lacs in market today..

http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1732043,000600010001.htm

Being such an expensive medal, it might be worthwhile if family can get it insured and may be government of India picks up the insurance bill. This medal is valuable not only for the family but for whole country. Chances of theft or misappropriating are very high once people know what is the worth of this medal. This needs to be protected at every cost and the safety arrangements need to be reviewed by the government agencies.

Thanks
Rajendra

hi pal
u r not right here
1. coz it was a strategy of sir chottu ram to break the baniya-british nexus in punjab
2.it was also a progressive step coz it expanded an inter-europian war, which was a boon for slave- countries.(eminent historians hav proved this...)
sir chotturam's strategy proved right, coz after second world war india
wins freedom and it also broke the baniya _british nexus.
so we sd understand this technical point of jat-strategy n sd salute that very jat (victoria cross winner) coz he expanded war in euro countries acc.to chotturam-strategy.
regards.

Pride for his bravery!!

Value for his life!!

If it would not have been Britishers we would have been under Raja rule even now!!

And dont forget India was united under britishers!!

Otherwise there wouldn't have been India or our Hindustan!!

Britishers were like any Rajah's, they came and they went!!

But atleast they were better than likes of Rana Pratap and prithvi raj chouhan!!

I am not counting Jat Kings because they were very few in numbers!!

Baniya-Rajput-Brahmin nexus was far worse than Baniya-Britsh nexus!!

Morever it was a short of change!

Change in the system of governance!

atul bhai......plz dont compare brahmin-rajput-rajput nexus with british-baniya nexus.coz this nexus has been broken by maharaja surajmal in 17th century,so there was no contribution of britishers to break this nexus.contrary to this britishers made a new nexus britshers-brahmins-rajputs-baniya.
it was sir chotturam who broke this nexus acc.to the above mentioned strategy.(plz see my thread ...dahiya u r not rt.)

For business men, a piece of metal. For soldiers the most precious thing in life.

A soldier fights for the pride of his nation, his Unit and the flag under which he serves. Who rules that nation really not of concern to him.

A Victoria Cross is a very precious medal. Whether won by a "JAT" or a non - jat does not take away the shine of this medal.

Regarding insurance. I am proud to say that the "First ever Victoria Cross won by Indian Army is with the Unit, I was commissioned and had the privilage to Command. The british officer who won it, gave it to the Unit, rather than keeping it with him. The Victoria Cross is safe and is insured. It is always under the watchful eyes of the "Quarter Guard" A replica is placed at the most appropirate place in the officers mess where it is seen by every single person who visits our officers mess.

Since I abhore all war, I really do not ahve any sympathy or concern for those who serve in the Governments militia.

I know why people in villages are so eager to send their kids to the Armed forces. I have heard it first hand. No one says that they want their kids to serve the nation. All they want is a secure employment for their kids and a pension after 20 years of bootlicking. other perks may include a hefty dowry.

Unfortunately my father, my mother and my brother, all serve/served Indian/US governments' militias.

My question is: Why is a person who adorns a uniform, gets paid by the taxpayers, and kills for a living called a patriot? While, a person who has no uniform, may or may not be paid by someone, and kills for liberation from the government's tyranny, called a terrorist.

If the government holds such esteem for these spangles, then why dont they send their own children to serve in the military? Why do they groom them to take over their parent's jobs, in the years to come?

How long will an ordinary citizen be scammed into believing that he/she is serving their nation by serving in the military, while they are actually serving someone's political ambitions and desires?

War and military have killed more people in the history of mankind than any other un-natural cause. Thus I find it difficult to have any taste for such institution that feeds on innocent human life.

Thank you Col Tevathia Sahib
Very rightly said I am 100% agree with you.
He was the last Indian VC holder Who attended 60th D- DAY Parade in London.
He was Yadav of Palda village Dist Jhajjar. But that not matter. He was a proud brave soldier and National Hero.
People should stop ISM .

Great title for the article. There is truly no price to be put on valour. I hope they keep the VC in their family for generations.
