it depends on your interest largely....
There are lot of areas for research.......
Some of them I have explored....
Data Mining....
Network security....protocols development ...wide field....you can choose anything you want...
Information security...cryptology...
these are largely mathematical based computer science...
The best place to do research in India is IISc...nice environment,
great reserch people.... good schlarship ....
There is department of CSA and SERC in IISc
Just search for them ... You need a good GATE score and have to satisfy the examiners in a usually hour long interview....
