"More than five million Indians are infected with HIV and the UN says India now has more people with the virus than any other country in the world. "
-Bill Clinton / BBC

India has the highest number of HIV infected people on this world .... and the infection rate is increasing ... in light of these facts, we cannot face away from the dire situation our society is facing .... if we choose to ignore it we will be like Southern Africa soon .. where 1 out of every 4 people is HIV infected .............. every family has had somebody die from AIDS or is dying right now as we speak

Yes anything realted sex is a taboo in our society and cannot be discussed .. but given the circumstances, I deem it unwise to stay silent

The youth of India are experiencing sexual liberation and pre-maritial sex is quite common ..... people often have multiple sexual partners especially men ......... even though we choose to deny it .... trust me "virgins" are an endangered species ...

Now please when ever you engage in sexual activity take proper measure ...

Please wear a condom
Please insist your partner to wear a condom
Be careful when you choose sexual partners
Try not to engage in sexual activities with prostitutes
And is you have to do it ..... make sure you have a condom on
Get yourself checked every six months (if you frequent brothels or use professional sexual services)

AIDS happens to human beings and so do not be an idiot and imagine yourself to be immune to HIV ..... because you are not

Do not be careless and endanged not only your own life but the life of your loved ones too

Make sure whenever you visit a hospital you take your own disposable syringe with you ....... its doesn't cost much ......

A special appeal to "Faujis", "Drivers" and "People living away from family" ....... you are apparently the "Highest Risk" group .. so please take utmost care

when it comes to HIV & AIDS ......... Better be safe , then be sorry

Vishi, there is no harm or shame in discussing a topic like this as it is threatening the very existence of mankind. Today we are at crossroads.Young generation has a huge danger of being marginalized by this monster. It is a silent killer and no amount of education is enough to educate people.A small carelessness can doom the future of a happy family.Other than what you have brought out,a few suggestions from my side also, which will go a long way in keeping away from this deadly disease.

1] While you take a hair cut or ask for a shave...kindly see to it that the blade used is brand new.
2] Any blood transfusion must be virus free
3] Insist on a new sealed needle at the time of administration of liquide medicine.
4] Stay away from drugs at all costs.
