I think dream is something which is out of ur hand and mostly they are not achievable if they are achievable then they are not your dream but ur target ..... so according to me only ( stress on me, i dont oppose who have are in favour of dreams ) dont have dreams and have target only and ur each and every step at present should move towards that target because when u look back and have slight meditation then those hard work that u have done towards that target will give u immense pleasure even though u may fail in achieving ur target, the result doesnt matters and what matter is that u tried hard and u r honest to yourself and i think every thing is not meant to be there to be achieved in this short span of life .......so dont dream ever .... they will give u sadness as most of dreams never get true....i know i am wrong but it can be possible i may not be worng there r people like me who have same opinion....

In my opinion we shud have Dreams
U are right,Dreams are not only to be achieved.
When we dont have, these dreams can give us strength to move on.
U are far away from ur loved ones n terribly missing them, then close ur eyes n imagine them with u, tym u spent with them. Yeah, it may be more painful as after opening eyes vo aur yaad ayenge but if we also see them saying us good bye n gud luck. We can get back our strength that they are hoping this from us.
Also sometimes we dont believe in our capabilities or lack confidence to set something as our target then these dreams can do wonders. Just dream about the appreciation u would get, happiness on the face of your people & u would feel its worth trying, lets do it.
What if they dont get true, if u apply practical approach from very starting then i dont think bahut jyada dukh hoga :D keep in mind that its a dream, if hota hai best n if not then okay it was a dream only :D

I dont disagree with u Naveen, u r also right. Dreams are abstract, very much situational so nothing can be said very strongly. I am a big dreamer n luv my this ability to dream n imagine :D but i never forget my real life

According to me, Dreams fill our life with PASSION :D

Com' on...Try to understand the meaning of dreams in broader aspect. Dreams are not just "khayali pullav" or 'day dreams'. you call them aspiration, you call them future desires, you call them wishes...or with any similar word....that is same. Its only that dream is a more poetic word. "Sapney hi nahin dekhenge to poore kaise honge" .The target you are talking about is right, that is the goal we want to attain. but how we will set our aim on any target if we dont aspire for that. Target or goal is in present when you make your moves very carefully with hard work, strategy etc to achieve it. But dreams or aspirations are for future, if we wud nt ve seen any dream, wud nt ve any aspiration in life, from where we wud ve felt motivated to attain those goals in life. If today I see some dream for my retired age or of doing something after couple of years, how can I achieve it today, or what moves I can make now, Its not a present target, and whatever i do, i can not fulfill it now; but if I dont keep nourishing this dream in my thoughts, how I ll be able to make it true at tht age.
Aur sapney apne aap sach nahin hote , unhe poora kerna padta hai Naveen, so dont be agraid of seeing dreams. Those who dream can achieve them.
Right we can not get each n everything...what matter most is that we made sincere n honest efforts...not the result. But never fear of failures... its well said, FOR EVERY DREAM THAT BEARS FRUIT THERE ARE THOUSAND OTHERS THAT WILT AND WITHER AWAY. remember, the one which bear fruit was also from them, if wud nt ve dreamed at first stance, then even that one wud nt ve been fruitful.

sukarma, you are confusing dreams with imagination n thoughts.:) if we talk about defining dreams, then dreams are only those which we see during sleep. And as they have no form, so they are abstract concepts.
Rest in literary sense they have different meanings.

well, dreams/wishes/desires r essentially "khayali pulav"...we always wish/desire/dream of perfection...of perfect surroundings...of perfect results...we never wish anything bad happening to us..
while "achieving a target" is more of a realistic or a practical thing...one aspires for sumthing...he/she works towards it,keeping his/her limitations in mind..

nd yes we shud dream...:)

Vaise to Mam u know better, u have done doctorate in Psycho :). But what i got from Naveen's post was, things we dream/ wishfully think about our future (which also include imagination n some base from past n present ). So i talked in that respect only. As we cant decide whether to have dreams when we are asleep, so i thought he is talking about these kind of dreams :)
And Abstract = Idea or term considered apart from some material basis or object. So i thought it comes in the parameters of abstract concepts :D

Ur further guidance is desired :)

Target and dreams are not same. Just try to analyze them specifically.

Targets are for the time being and they vary according to situations and how things works i.e. positive or negative. We set up a target and try to achieve that within a time limit. If things wroks well we achieve that. if things works better than we desired we change our target accordingly and set a new target somewhere higher than original one and same when things doesn't go well, we set new target somewhere below the original target.

Dreams, on the other hand, never change throughout life. Once we have a dreams that is our lifetime aspiration and no time limit for that. Morever, dreams can't be changed according to the situations. They always remains the same as original.

Dreams comes true or not that depends how hardwoking you are and how realistic your dream is accroding to your present situation.

This is not 'daydreaming' or 'Khayali Pullav' but this is the real dream you want to fulfill one day in your life.

Sukarma, I understand your point of view, you are right...I agree naveen has mentioned this term in a sense as are hopes, daydreams or imagination., then he compared them to targets...so i cleared there dreams as aspirations....
actually the term dreams can take different meanings, some of commonly used are-

A series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep.
A daydream; a reverie.
A state of abstraction; a trance.
A wild fancy or hope.
A condition or achievement that is longed for; an aspiration.
One that is exceptionally gratifying, excellent, or beautiful e.g. its so b'ful looks like a dream.
