Hoshiarpur, December 22
On account of low growth of population in Canada, there is a wide scope of well- educated youths for settling there. Keeping in view the potential of Indian and Chinese youths, the Government of Canada is focusing on the well-educated persons of both these countries for providing them jobs.
This was disclosed by Mr Sukh Dhaliwal, MP from Canada, while talking to media persons here this afternoon.
He said unemployed youths interested in settling in Canada should avoid so-called travel agents. Many such youths had been exploited by these travel agents. They charged huge amounts from them for sending them to Canada but seldom succeeded in doing so.
Mr Sukh Dhaliwal exhorted NRIs to adopt at least their native village in Punjab for its overall development under a scheme of the state government in which 50 per cent funds were given by it and 50 per cent by the sponsoring person or agency.
He said a majority of the NRIs from Punjab were well-settled and were doing commendable jobs for the upliftment of those countries where they were earning their livelihood. It was their foremost duty to also contribute to the growth of their mother land.
He said rural areas of Punjab were still lacking basic infrastructural facilities on account of which a majority of rural people had either shifted to urban areas or were thinking to do so.
