It is because we:

- Are not courteous, diplomatic
- Are insensitive towards others views, emotions
- Don't recognize the authority
- Don't express appreciation or gratitude
- Don't know how to handle situations, my way or no way
- Come across very arogant
- Always ready to jump to others throat
- ... ...

OR

It is because others:

- Just don't like us for no obvious reasons
- Are conspirators
- Are iditios
- Are Jat haters
- Are envious of our economic and political power
- ... ...

Take your shots at it. No limits.

The reason for anti Jat bias is basically two folded ...... one is a prejudice about Jats due to various historical and political reason and also due to misunderstanding of Jat traditions and culture

But to a certain degree the blame lays with ourselves too ... a lot of Jat youth are loud and very vulgar in public ..... more so with the rural crowd but also city lads

They use excessive swearing and really vulgar terms in public when they talk in Haryanvi or Purvi (UP Dialect) .... so it leaves an impression of Jats as being uncivilised, ill-mannered and rude people .....

But then so does a lot of Punjabis, Biharis and UPites (non-jats) .. so why only Jats get the bad name .... because there is a very strong anti-Jat sentiment present in Punjabi (non-Jat) community, to a certain degrees Baniyas (though Baniyas are more pro-Jat that the rest) and to an extreme in Pandits

Jats in general have a very confident personality this gets interpretted as arrogance at times ......... but we should worry about it ...

The other reason is people find it impossible to dominate or manipulate us and someone who has been doing it for ages (the Pandits) it does not please them and they start spinning tales about Jats

such stories get passed on with added flavour and results in bias

Jats have never cared for others views and why should we .. I do not see why we should change ourselves to please peopel who have always had ill-will for us and they will continue to do so so .. because our objectives and aims clash

Jats live an independent confident life .. and their goal is to enslave us .. not literally but like they have done to the Rajputs and the Dalits

- Are not courteous, diplomatic
Jats are upfront people and being diplomatic is not necessarily a great trait .. we know what we want and how to get it .. we do not have to work our way around things
But yes a little more corteousness will help

- Are insensitive towards others views, emotions
We are to a certain degree but nothing serious ...

- Don't recognize the authority
Well i thin this is a problem with all Indians, have you seen how they behave during flights, I have seen air-hostesses almost come to tears everytime there are a lot of Indians in the flight ........ a friend works for BA and she tells me Indian and the Chinese are the worst behaved people .. but Indians top the list

So its not only a Jat problem .. its a wider problem

- Don't express appreciation or gratitude
Yes this is indeed a problem ....... we need to me a bit more courteous .. the blame lies with parents and not the whole community .... our social customs tell us to be polite and respectfull .. this is an urbanisation ill-effect

- Don't know how to handle situations, my way or no way
Nothing wrong with this, this stems form confidence we are a very confident race .. and so we can take the stand .. infact we should be proud of this ... Remember Bush he does it too because he knows he strong and powerful and brims with confidence

- Come across very arogantThis is confidence percieved by others as arrogance .... not our problems .. we shoudl not be kissing peoples bottoms to please them ... let them deal with it ....... I consider it as a very positive trait

- Always ready to jump to others throat
Its not as bad as you have put it .. we are not a bunch of sea-pirates or Chambal ke Daku

nice views sura sir and kharab sir,

I think the nature and behaviour of any species is developed by the atmosphere it lives in. We can justify the reasons why are the jats like they are.
We are basically farmers and the a farmer always realises the importance of physical power in all aspects of his activities and hence in a long way he starts apraising the physical power which is very well seen in the jat community.
Now what happens is that the other communities take it negativly as they are not so strong as jats and very often they have to face the problems due to it. Gradually this becomes a reason for jats being hated by others.
Now comes the fact that jats Are not courteous.
Again the reason resides in the life style itself. A person who physically works so hard throughout the day cannot be so courtious and soft spoken. Same is the case with army personal and police ppl. This is not wrong indeed beacuse the task of police, army or a farmer cant be accomplished with a lot of courtsy. They all need to be tough by nature. But the problem starts when this habbit extends in the personal and social life also. This should and can be avoided.
It need some willingness to be courtious in your social life depite of being tough at job.
Again I would say, the because of the nature of work, jats are very often not soft spoken but one good thing is that they are straight forward in their thoughts.
We are not so diplomatic because for a farmer dimplomacy doesnt work. Kheton (farms) mein batoun se kaam nahin chalta, kaam karna padta hai.

So all these factors togehter make the basic nature of a jat.
At the same time I have realised that the ppl who are away from the farmer jobs are slowly getting out of the negative aspects though it will take some time to completly come out of this.
jat ppl who are in white-collor jobs are soft spoken, diplomatic and cool in nature.
So if we can adapt these qualities then there will be no problem.
Being a farmer the jat nature was justified but if we continue with the same being educated than it is a problem.
One more good thing about jats is there will power and determination. I would say itz in our genes.

I have observed in rajasthan that 50% of the medical students who come from vilages are jats.

They dont have much resources but the winning factor is their hardwork and will power which we(jats) have much more than others. I am sure this is same with jats of all states.

Please excuse me if I am wrong at any point as these are my personal views and observations.

I will learn with your inputs.

regards,
narendra

Vishvajeet,

Most part you have painted it right, certain parts you have tried to justify some of negative traits which may be good at certain times and places but perhaps not for soul searching, and,

- What goes around comes around, it is very basic thing. Listen, care for others, you will be listned, cared. Applies to opposite too.
- There is difference between confidence and arogance. One can be confident and polite.
- I for one haven't found that every one is after us to get us.
- Yes, I have found that others help their own kind first before others but that is not anti anyone.
- If we want others to like us, we have to become like-able.

Bush has his way or no way because he could afford to, besides, I don't think even Bush has it all the time. He does that only when he sees things are going his way, else he changes his way quickly.

Upfront? This remided me a story -

One time a King asked a Jyotishi about his future. The Jyotishi said Maharaj everyone in your family will die before you. The King became furious and ordered to behead the Jyotishi. After some time another Jyotishi came to the King. The King asked him about his future. The Jyotishi said Maharaj you will live the longest life in your family. King became very happy and ordered to give lots of money to the Jyotishi.

The upfront, on your face kind are the one's to loose their head.

Narendra,

Please call me Hardayal.

You have got it right and it is the right reasoning for why. Results of hard work are always good, but after certain point hard work alone doesn't get you there. It is more than that.

Just keep the right attitude, remember where you have come from and where do you want to go. You will go long way.
