Elections: Vote our Weapon

As this is the election time in punjab and in UP as well. And we should use our vote as our weapon to oust the corrupted people
but what if one is "Chor" and other is "Bada Chor" don't worry we had one more option about which Politicians don't even talk.

M Section 49-O of the Constitution

We must know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!
Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".
Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the Candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them.
This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public....
Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is ven more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance.
So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this information. ..

Ab ajaoo booth-caputring jabardistee petiyo ko bharna to kya aam admi apne is hathiyar ka istemal kar sakta hai?

But I agree with Netrapal bhai, it is nearly impossible to effectivly use this option.

MPD 2021 ke baare me to sun he liya hoga. Politicians has made arrangements for business class because they pay them money. They do for chudee, chamar, musalman etc because they give them vote.

What they are doing for you, professor, scientist etc........nothing
Because they don't give anything (neither money nor vote) means they are powerless.

Politcal parties will do good for us if we vote for good people.
we (educated people) know whom to vote or whom not to.

if they are chor and maha chor let them suffer. Make the people of india aware about there right.

We (Indian) people want to change the face of our country but by sitting inside their house while having a cup of tea on the voting day.

Come on man how many people is aware of this section i think not many.
how many people educated peoples vote .....not many.

We must realize the power of vote and make all of friends realize that they must vote on the voting day and use their decisive vote. after that we all will realize that something is planned by govt. for us as well.

At last the important thing is if we use this section 49 -O of NO VOTE. Chors and mahachor will feel scared of us and even big political parties won't give them tickets to fight.

aap or mai chahte hooe bhee sahee admee ko vot nahe de sakte ham jab tak pahoochenge pooling booth par hamara vot koi or hee dal jayega.............

mare bhai har jagah leg pooling hai chahe wo rajneetee hao ya koi or jagah har aadmee dusree aadmee ka oopar chad kar age jana chahta hai desh kee kon sochta hai..........................:(.

Since Indian voters are mostly illiterate, this "weapon" would hardly be used by them. And our cunning politicians would not allow it to happen.

Why can't Election Commission make a provision on the ballot paper itself where there could be a "no vote" option? In the case of an Electronic Voting Machine, one such button can be made available. But it is unlikely unless there is a great awareness among masses.

BTW some discussion on this issue took place some time back on thread Is there any law like this in our constitution ..........plz confirm (http://www.jatland.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15178&highlight=49-0+constitution) .
