( Since the posts of Mr Shailendera and Dahiya Sir has been moved to Chapters and Itineraries which is reserved for discussions about local Jat chapters, and travel plans of people wanting to meet fellow Jats, I am posting here in general talks as their continuation KNOWINGLY because that is rarely visited section and will request Mod n Admins to move those posts here regarding 1857 as these posts have nothing to do Chapters and Itineraries)
All of you must be wondering what Cricket has to do with 1857 , 1947 and India. No wonders!! They share a great symbolism.
Lets start from 1857, much hyped ‘sepoy mutiny’ was more of a UNION of people from all sects devoid of their caste, religion and region. Officially it failed, but it had transformed a sleeping nation to a struggle for its independence. It had generated a wave of Nationalism among the people of India. This unity of religions, castes, regions achieved their fruit in 1947 but with partition based on religion. A struggle that had started with unity ended in a wounded partition. Then 'Looted Golden Sparrow, whose wings were ebbed with chains of Gulami, has dreamt of flying high again but myth was infected in early seventies with the immortal virus of Corruption, unemployment, population and poverty. Poor Golden sparrow!! Later that virus has replaced itself with the face of Nationalism which unorganized the unity of people in the classes as castes, religions and many more! Today, 2007 we are feeling high on urban growth but sparrow is sad because aandata is hanging himself. That’s the paradox.
Coming to Cricket, Indian psycho is very much alike this game. Lazy, unaggressive and forgettable.
It has been written in Wisden( Bible of Cricket) that Cricket is the game of PARTNERSHIPS. Those who have strong partnerships always are winners. Its highly unpredictable like life. Country Like Japan can be in the list of developed ones with its never say die spirits even after devastating atom bomb saga And Country Like Ours with a spiritual tradition of more than 5000 years still struggling to identify its real face and real way of administration. Indian cricket never believed or practiced big partnerships and always-in turmoil so does India and its society. Egos of classes, religions, and castes never have been shed in the favor of country. So no partnerships, no big victories…. There is lot to learn from 1857 PARTNERSHIP, UNITY which had thrown an empire whose Sun was never set since centuries. Before another colonization starts in one way or other let us break the Wall of religions, ego of castes, for an aspiring Golden sparrow. Lets give Her strength that She deserves!
A tribute to the first Wo(man) of freedom struggle -Rani lakshmi Bai by another great poet-Subhadra Kumari Chauhan:-
