Hi All,
I would like us all to join hands and resources either intellectual or financial to work toward a common goal bringing happiness to the life of our fellow brothers who are deprived of basic amenities First of all mere talking will serve nothing we have to convert words in action. Since long time I am thinking of making a group of some like minded people who can give some amount of their time to work for uplift of our people.
Some of things that are in my mind are :-
1. We have to create a level playing field for the children who are staying in villages who by no means can compete with children who are studying in city’s. The biggest obstacle for them to date is English we therefore need to make a action plan increase the level of education in villages .
2. In wake of globalization things are changing at very fast pace I am afraid that if don’t take timely action we will be left far behind, We can take example of states like Andrapardesh who are taking full benefit of this IT revolution what about us .We have hardly one software engineer per village leave things like biotechnology .
3. We have to start a awareness campaign to let people know that there are enough jobs for you guys in the private sectors like IT,BioTechnology,Retail,Airlines to name a few the only thing is that you have to work hard for that and we have to become the guiding light for those passionate students who in spite having intelligence are not able to anything because they have no one to show the right path.
4. We have to bring this phobia out of everone’s mind that there is no job without sifarish and money .
I have great expectation from you guys because when we have a will to do and soul to dare there nothing in this world that we can not accomplish .

Dear Niraj,
Nice thought, you can count on me for help.
But at this point i would like to share my experience with you.
I am based in Pune. I tried to extend help to around 4 people by giving them exployment in pune with salaries ranging from 5K to 8k but none of them countinued the jobs. sighting the reason that this is not enough money to meet their living. But as per my experience 4k to 5k is enough money to meet ur basic needs. moreover all of them were merely metric or graduates so i don't think that they had to maintain any status or expensive lifestyle products like car, mobile or multiplexs etc. but then the question is......what went wrong??????
I then closely discussed with their immediate bosses and all of them responded alike. according to their bosses all of them were" big liars, irresponsible, cheats and in nut & shell "kaamchor".
after this i spoke to these guys and their response was our bosses are idiots, they don't know their job, they don't treat me with respect.
after that i kept a close watch on their routine & the observation was:
- they will reach late to office & move out early
- they will not do the assigned task
- will always sit in the chair & chat
- yeh kaam mera nahi hae......is their punch line
- half of their time they will waste on PANSHOPS.
- evenings they will be drunk
- they will keep passing cheap remarks on ladies on streets
- they will not pay rent
- since i had introduced them to their bosses they will keep borrowing money from them on my name
Finally my reputation & prestige started suffering and so i gave up supporting them and now except for 1 all of them have been sent back.
the bottomline Mr. Niraj is that" there is no scarcity of work but our so called "poor & left behind brothers" lack "dignity of labour" and i don't know what can be done for them.
they want either a govenment job or if in private sector it should be office class where they will have cabin and people should be reporting to them, no hardwork for them please.
anyways you can count on me and let me know how i can contribute.
take care,
avinash

Dear Avinash,
A little introduction about www.janjagriti.com
This NGO was started around 2yrs back purely to bring our village kids at a level playing field with urbanites. English speaking was one of the thrust area followed by "moral education" . Sharing our experinces with them and opening the outside world to a village kid was another area and towards that Karan singh (A US citizen on soul searchig) stayed in the village Barhana (where this pilot project is running) for close to 8 months. Navin Gulia had been a force behind organising a big sports event, every year. The details of which are posted on the website.
An organisation set up and membership+ volunteer enrolment drive is another agenda on the anvil. Motivated people like both of u are an asset to the organisation. Vicky bhai we all have bad experinces, but "burai: ke darr sey "achai" nahin chodi jaati. Navin has a number of simillar stories to tell and some are really hilarious.
Kindly get in touch with Navin bhai and send in ur detail how u would like to contribute. To start with become a member to get a news letter and be abreast.

Ramesh Bhai,
I have just now gone through the Jan Jagriti website it is really great endeavor by you people who are striving to bring about a change in society and the mission statement and the agenda very much same that I am having in my mind. Then a few question popped up in my mind and the questions are……..
1. Area of operation still limited to only one or two villages although the society now working for more than two years as we have 7000 villages in Haryana what action plan we have for future that is not mentioned in website we should have planning at least five years in advance so that one year down the line we can check what goal we have met. we have to set goal for every individual and the organization as whole.
2. My secondary concern is that we not only have made efforts ourselves but we need to involve influential people and so that we can advice influence government in policy making.
3. we should contact local media like local newspapers and the best thing now days in the cable in every village that we can use to propagate our thoughts .we need to have good media partners.
4. There is no talk any knowledge pool that we need to build in order guide not only students of village but also students in cities.
5. There is no talk building any book bank that we can have by opening counters at various school, college and companies where people can donate books so that they can be given needy students.
So many other things there in my mind but now boss is calling will write down some other time.

Dear Ramesh,
I have browsed through the website you mentioned and appreciate the good work JJians are doing doing.
About how I can contribute:
Let me give you a little background about myself, I am a mechanical engineer & MBA in marketing currently running my business in pune.
Earlier in my career I have worked for a company that is into rural education, empowerment & health/medical facilities. This company was into using information technology (IT) services to better the life of rural people by educating them, employing them & giving them primary health services. So I know a little about what JJ is trying to do. We can try to implement some schemes of education, primary health & basic employment for them.
My father is an Athletics coach with Sports Authority of India and currently posted in the Bhiwani sports hostel. We can take his help to further the sports activities.
My experience in working in rural areas is
• we should attempt at making them self supporting and charity cannot go a long way.
• Charity will not only spoil the motivation levels but also will take a toll on
the quality of your product. I hope being an army man Mr. Navin Gulia will
appreciate the value of self respect & dignity, which will come only from
self reliance.
• Try to make a self sustaining & powerful organization rather than an
organization that is solely dependent on external help to meet its needs.
It is my experience that the donator will try to use the organization to
fulfill his aims & visions rather than taking forward NGO's vision & aim.
Please ignore me if you think I have been rude or excessively assertive. These are my general & personal views and are no remark on JJ. Because JJ is your baby and I have no right whatsoever to comment on it. Please take my views as my personal ideology with all the probabilities that I may be wrong.
Please accept my total admiration & appreciation of your work because you have the courage to tread this selfless path of helping others.
I shall always be available to contribute my efforts.
take care,
Avinash Sheoran

Bhai Avinash,
Welcome to JJ.
JJ is not my baby, it’s the community effort, lots of friends involved. You are welcome to join and contribute in any way you want. When you want to do something good it cannot be bad, so just hop in, treat it as your own.
The problem you encountered with the Jat boys you got employment for is very common. To tell you what went wrong – The boys in Jat rural community and even in city families are spoilt brats. The parents pamper and spoil them. They think that getting them job is the problem of their parents, contacts or local politician and that too they want a damn good job i.e atleast 10,000 Rs even if the boy is only matriculate. The parents give them good food, no work (all work is given to girls), bike. These boys think life is easy.
When we try to motivate boys to study the parents say “Agar padhaai karakai e naukri diwaawaiga tai tera ke faayda, tannai tai jib maannaa jib sifarish tai naukri diwawai”
We are trying to change this mindset by spreading education and awareness.among kids and school children and of course elders too (although elders are least receptive).
We have been able to procure permission for a stadium to be opened in the village. It will be really good because it will give very creative and healthy output to the youth energy which otherwise is being diverted to mischief, fights and crime. It would be wonderful if SAI can organise some training camps of specific sports in the village.
Niraj bhai, Avinash bhai,

Navin Bhai,
You are very right our people don't show any gratitude if you do any good to them,Bhagwan Sri Krishan nai gita mai kaha hai " Hai Arjun Samta mai siteh ho kar yudh kar" so we have to fight against these social evils to make our society more dynamic and enterprising we have to explore new horizons as we have 1000’s years of experience in agriculture domain we have to capitalize on that as retail sector is coming in we can put aside these middle mans who are sucking the blood of humble farmers from ages.
So we have to spread education at many levels and you guys are doing a wonderful job we have to do something like multilevel marketing so that our force multiply we need make it way of thinking and it should be nothing less than a revolution we are always the first whenever revolution comes whether it was freedom struggle or green revolution and we need to have a women wing so that we educate rural women and I think if someone is capable of bringing a change than that is our Domestic Managers(Our Mothers).
We have to revolutionize the way of thinking we have to bring harmony back in our society we have to again bring back the concept of joint families so that we can maximize output with minimal resources.
We have to bring a new dawn and the onus is on us…………………………..
“Swaraj Chaiya Apna Raj Chaiya Marta Dam Taak Hum Lade Gai Sawarj Chaiya”
Bhagwan Gita mai kehta hai “Hani Jab Jab Dharam Ki Hoya…..Adrhmi Pap Bij De Boya…..Daram Ka Karna Phir Udhar Mujhe Lena Padta Awatar Chodta Phir Nahi Pap Nissan”

Bhai Log,
I truely appreciate your vision and efforts to do SOMETHING. Hats Off to all the guys involved in this campaign or any other campaign like that.
The bigger problem, at least in my opinion, is not the education or awareness. Its the mindset of a common man. Have you ever asked yourself a question, why do they want a job only in Govt. Sector or a job where you dont have to do much and pays you well. Dignity of Labor is something that is unheard of or unthinkable.
There is another problem. The problem of being JAT. All the contributors in this thread have shared their dreams on how to uplift Jats in villages. What about the other 64% poor souls sharing exactly the same fate as Jats in villages? When people like YOU (software engineers, Mechanical engineers, English speaking, Hat-wearing, living abroad or other parts in India) have this stigma of caste (which stops you from being a human first and a Jat later) imprinted in your minds and your inability to think beyond that, what hope do you expect from the very people you are trying to raise living standards of.
By the Way, do you check the Caste Certificate before letting anyone enter your awareness, Jagriti programs to make sure any ACHHOOT should not be benefited from this exercise. If not, then please please start addressing everyone in villages and NOT JUST JATS.
I am afraid I can not support any campaign for the very reason that ensures some caste poors are more entitled to benefits than others. In my opinion, its the Reservation chaos in reverse.
And another thing,, I lived, studied and spent most of my life in a village.
Yash.

Bhai Yash,
When we teach classes all children come. In govt school all children from poor families only come.
When we organise essay writing, drawing and sports competitions, every one takes part and winners get prizes.
It never occured to me to check back their caste.
What part of our website www.janjagriti.com made you feel that we check caste certificates.

What we want to achieve
-> Create a level playing fields, And i think this means that our village and city should have access to same type of resource.
-> Quality Teaching, So that we can be well developed natin or community or whatever portion we think we are concentrating.
-> Good life standards.
and many goods and best.
Now do we have institute working toward this? Yes we have a large scale infrastrusture and controlling bodies in the form of Public, Private schools for education but still we have to open schools and teach the students in evening beccause of poor use of infrastructure, bad moral level and insufficient awareness. Are not we wasting our resources either in NGO like Jan Jagriti or in Governmnet institute? Now we have to find how can we achieve better utilisation of these resource by Administering these Govt. Schools, By better managment of spending , Educating teachers , encourage children and people to learn and then make them able to contribution in nation building.
Also we have to ask government to better management of many govt. institute by local communities bodies like Jan Jagriti, and many can be formed like this to improve transparency . I know they will not let us to do this but shouldnt we try this? You may think that this is Politics, Yes it is .
Government is for all these issues. We pay monies to do all the work and yes Vote to choose human resource. We should make a NGO who will work with government and we should do the controlling and guiding role in it and not we should make a parallel heap of resource it will generate wastage and believe me not as useful as it could be .
Will need to refine the Ideas i put. But i think this is the way we can get much better result in lesser time at very large scale.

Dear all,
We all know the basic problem in our community (as you all discusssed in this thread also) that is attitude, professionalism.
First of all we need to do frame work on "How We Can Change Attitude of Our Jat Brothers Towards Education & Employement".
We have to make a strategy and the system so that if we make a team that can work in right direction.
Ya we all are right this is the right time to start work on our community improvement programme. Jatland members are sitting in different corners of the world, working with top mnc's, best institutions, etc...from our world class experience we can make a bullet proof strategy and the educating/awereness system for our community.
We all hope this thread will not end up as usual discussion.
Looking forward,
Ravinder Singh

Hi friends…
I see lot of us talking about getting government involved or sponsorship of some type or the other. I think it is neither required nor will it take us anywhere at this stage.
I think we should first plan a few things, produce good results and reach a stage where we can convincingly request people to contribute.
As far as financial strength of the company is concerned, we should not depend on external resources because then it will become just another creep in the society. How can we endlessly depend on donations, no one is going to spend their hard earned money on us. Let us create a strong revenue model for the project and only then our job is done.
By trying to involve government or corporates aren’t we trying to walk on a path that will need us nowhere, because we all know how things move in government/ corporates.
Secondly, if we involve politicians we will unintentionally end up driving half of the population, which does not support the politician, away from the project. Politicians, to whichever party they may belong to, can do no good to any social cause unless it helps them to gain publicity for themselves but that’s not our aim.
Please think on this & give your feed back.
Take care,

Dear Niraj bhai,
Since u agree about the basic idea of JJ, it would be more proper to be a part of JJ, rather than having a seperate entitiy. We all are on the simillar efforts lets streghten the existing structure and have a takeoff level rather than "reinventing the wheel again".
Let us get down to how we can contribute in development of organisation to pass on the benefits to the people. Suggestion by kadyan ji is good, but there are counter arguments too. Sh Deepender hooda had extended his support and infact visited barhana "twice" last year. He is very keen in education development and we found him very receptive and live to the problems we discussed with them, however i would go with Avinash bhai's views that we have to show ourself at some level before we invlove government irrespective of party.
Last and most important thing has been pointed by Ravi dhaka bhai that " lets not just discuss, but act too"

Dear Niraj,
I don't think you had any reason to be defensive at the comments of Hemant or bharti....because they were purely sarcastic. You are definitely a “BADA AADMI” Niraj… a person who can go beyond his self interests and think of welfare of the lesser fortunate fellow beings is definitely a great man.
Being humble is good but there are limits. they are only trying to spoil the tempo of all of us...
i think according to hemant, if a doctor wants to cure a patient's illness then he should first get that disease or illness in himself and experience the illness and then think of treating/diagnosis the patient...its rubbish.
I’ll agree with Ramesh & he has very well put it…..”NO NEED TO INVENT THE WHEEL EVERYTIME”. Let us be a part of JJ only, we can be a small group(i.e. BAND OF BROTHERS can be the name of our small group in JJ) & do our job else, we will investing lot of time, effort & money in things i.e. infrastructure that are already existing with JJ.
If everybody agrees on this then we can request ramesh to formally make us all a part of JJ and Niraj you please take the leadership of BOB.
Since Ramesh is already involved in this, he can probably advise us our first area/task to start with.
Lets get on with some work at the earliest.

Very good sign that things are coming closer. It will be good idea that we keep ourselves in single organisation which is having same agenda. 1 + 1 = 11 will work here.
And i am having very much interest in politics and i would likw to be a part of JJ's government and socialising wing. We should take governmnet and Corporates along with us. We shouldn't wait that we will do some thing of big bang and than Government or companies will notice us and pour monies. We should start working with government for support, infrastructure and policy making and also should be ready for immediate utilisation of all these developed resources. And i am sure we should approach for bigger fund, resources and tie ups with corporate firms. i am having something in mind
1. Every state having an Edusat VSAT network that comes under Sarv Siksha Abhiyan. SO this network covers state wide schools and colleges and having two way Video and teaching capability. The studio for this located at Panchkula. And this netwrok lies ideal most of time and will not occurs much of cost for us if we get permission to use this network for some specialised courses. it may be we find very few terminals for this network in village but its very easy to set up recieve only terminals.
2. We could DD network for broadcasting good programme for our network also. by this way we can get quality resource and bigger coverage.
Being in Networking and broadcasting domain i am more inclined to these technologies but believe me these things solves many issue which prevent large scale implementation of these kind of projects.
And as i am not earning very good and setting my own business i am not able to do much financial help.
But i am having attitude. So count me as Active member for JJ and this effort.

Dear All,
We are framing a mission for JAT COMMUNITY, so forget about government involvement, corporate sponorship.
As per my thinking such type of mission can't be matured by above mentioned (govt & corp) forces.
We need to find resourses in our own village. And these resourses are good teacher, retiered person and intelligent student. All we need to bring them on one junction.

Sorry for Interuption !!
Good point raised by you. As i was following this thread, few days back the same idea comes to my mind too but i have confirmed from the sources that NGO's and other private organisation are not allowed to used their network facilities.
This project is completely dedicated to Govt resources. Ministry of Human Resources Development(MHRD) with the help of ISRO had launched this satelite technology way back in 1975 named as Satellite Instructural Television experiment (SITE).Considering the success of this satellite they have launched a dedicated high power satellite named as EDUSAT to promote education in rural areas.
Now MHRD had given a contract to private firm named as Modern Communication & Broadcast Systems Pvt Ltd (MCBS) for installation and supplies of equipment of EDUSAT network across India .It is based in Gandhinagar (Gujarat) .Gujarat is the only state in India today where complete rural primary and secondary schools are running on EDUSAT network.Other states are in preliminary stage. However in Haryana the Edusat educational was launched on 21st May 2007.Here is the link.

It may be we are not allowed to use this technology for our own use but as i told you this we will use for conducting the class. Not for our own networking efforts. Let me brief you about edusat
-> This programme is under ISRO. than isro works for Sarv Siksha Abhiyan. Sarv shiksha abhiyan will use this for conducting classes for adult education system and also for high skill required teaching.
-> In haryana and many other the operationis are looked after by BEL ,In punjab,Jammu,Srinagar,Kerala, tamilnadu, orrisa,Jharkhan ,IDSP network is given to Hughes Communication India Ltd.
-> The content, owner, administration is under Sarv Shiksha abhiyan. Director of Rank IAS is chairman for the Sarv shiksha abhiyan; head the operation.
-> and Haryana's Network is not Pilot one but Full fledged well established having two studio and good infrastructure for the maintainance.
-> We can use network easily as they search eagerlu for content provider.
-> And believe me infrastructure is very good as having two way video conference and teaching aids in well built studio.
Only we have to make a cordination wing which will arrange for all the class room arrangement in all the stations. And we can have recorded version of every lecture for offline viewing in case power failure, not able to attand some class or anything like this.
We should give it a shot. In case every buddy ready i can arrange a meeting with official here. But should we arrange our resource first as we should be clear in our requirement and effect it will give in education areena.

Dear Ravinder,
Why so much Govt. phobia? Its not first time and first place on earth ;working of NGO along with govt.As it will help to synchronization our efforts with the policies of government. Yes you are right if you say it will face some problem in time and efforts requirement but it will pays very much. And who the hell is govenrment to deny our own paid resource to use for our own community? And why should we have hesitatin to use these resource if we can? And Governmnet is there for community development, collective upliftment and synchronization.
