Never Give up.

One day I decided to quit..
I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality...
I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.
I gave them light. I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor.
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more
vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the
bamboo. He said.
"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo see.
I would not quit." He said.
"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.
Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and
gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."
He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been
Struggling, you have actually been growing roots"
"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."
"Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different
purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful."
"Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high"
"How high should I rise" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise" He asked in return.
"As high as it can" I questioned.
"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and bring back this story.
I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.

Its all right to quit sometimes. I am not saying to quit on life and its spirit. Thats suicidal. But its ok to quit a job/relationship/plan if its not working for you.

Mumbai's Baristas and nightclubs are awash with not so young people who are not ready to quit chasing their dreams to make it big in Bollywood. I have met many of them. Some of them have been my close friends as well. When they were young they said the same things. 'Never Quit. Never Give up. My day will come.' They still say the same things however the defiance in their voice has left. For them clearly their plan to make it big isn't working. And they think they will lose their face if they quit now. In fact quitting for them requires a lot and they don't have it. Its a heart breaking story.

So don't advocate this line. I have heard it a lot. And still do. I would rather advocate to be smart. Be fast. And Be brave. Quit if your plan is not working and move on to better things quickly. Life is too short and world is too large to waste on vanity.

:) i fully agree with wht u say .yes ur right thts wht happens with ppl they begin with pomp n show n land up no where .its all due to not constantly reminding onceself of once goals n priorities.but i know so many people who enjoy ,hang out a coffee shops n still without doubt are moving ahead on ladder of success . it is all due to MIND CONTROl.(MORE OVER IT IS WHAT U WANT TO SEE THE BRIGHTER SIDE OR DARKER SIDE.LIFE HAS ALL)
such words only add to increasing ones zest n remind not to lose once goals .ies DONT RACE AGAINST OTHERS .RACE AGAINST YOURSELF.
ABOVE ALL NOTHING ONE LOSES BEING POSITIVE.:)

Coffeshops are for people to enjoy, hangout and discuss small and big things in life. Sorry, if my post came out to be little a cynical. My intention was not that.

Yes it is important to remind oneself of one's goals and dreams. No doubt about it.

In fact what I wanted to covey was to be positive about quitting something that is not working. Be it a business plan or a relationship. No point in beating a dead dog. As you said in the end the race is with yourself. You cannot compare your inside with the outside of others, etc.

Ok enough sermonizing. Sticking my tongue out(sideways).

"Do not quit" doesnt mean that pick a rope againest all odd and succumb to death. It means pick something with a thought and goal and than give a good shot and hold it till time you dont have firm control on it; have a good ride and if cant find work around quit gracefully and pick something else meaningful.Either you got Succes or you will be busy and dont have to think about quitting. Keep changing and trying buddy "Dont Quit".
