Masti Ki Paathshala - IV
The next moment knock at the door broke the pin drop silence in the room. No prize for guessing, it was popular Dhoom-Dhadaka party of around 12 guys. They stepped in with long Chappals & slippers in hands.
“Get ready for the fun…you Kabootars,” one guy, a Haryanvi jat, with his heavy built gave me a fierce look in the eyes while others had wide smirk on their faces. The smirk was typical of a provoked butcher who was going to run his dragger on the animal. The fear on Sachin’s face was evident.
“You have two minutes to remove your clothes, otherwise game will begin while lights are on. And after switching the light off, nobody will speak even a single word,” announced another guy as if he had cleared his throat in a deep canyon.
The moment had arrived.
“Kabootar Teen or Shikaari Ek Darjan, Bhut Nainsaafi Hai,” roared the Jat in his thundering voice with singular good humor. Gabbar Singh came alive to haunt again, this time not to Thakur, Veeru or Jai, but three young, innocent souls in a Delhi College’s hostel room no. 786 on a hot summer night.
“Hmmm…you are right…twelve will be too much for three, make it six, rest of six will be special audience...an audience in dark,” laughed another kind soul loudly.
“Rest six will be given the chance to have Dhoom-Dhadaka treat tomorrow with other Kabootars,” Jat guy decided the fate of other next-door freshers too.
Three of us were standing, having only underwear on our naked bodies, with the fear of known future moments. The alarm was set for 5 minutes. Lights were switched off. Seniors were kind enough in giving us 1-minute of complete dark to move around or hide in room anywhere.
Every possible hole from where even minor light rays could seep in, was taken care of well, so that seniors couldn’t see the target. Complete darkness was ruling the action-packed room now.
This darkness was our friend in this moment of need. First time, I prayed to the god of darkness (is there any?...didn’t know) to give His blessings to the mortals. The alarm began ringing.
Nobody could see each other. Both target and the hunter were groping in the dark for all the opposite reasons.
“AAAAAhhhhhhhhhh.” Suddenly, I heard a cry; probably it was Sachin whose agony voice echoed through the room. It cried only to have the echo return as a scream. I was also trying to hide in a corner, frightened, pale and almost breathless with terror.
Sachin made the mistake of hiding under the bed, which was expected. Three seniors got the better of him and enjoyed the Dhullai thoroughly. I was just waiting for the alarm to shut off…groping in the dark, out of the blue, I collided with a huge figure.
“AAAAAAhhhhhhhh...Oh God please stop it,” the cry came again, a sobbing full of agony, this time from my throat. The jat guy was bang on the target. His chappal found my upper-back thrice in a row.
This dark, which we considered our friend in need, was now getting too much to handle. I felt a sudden chill, and an overwhelming urge to be in the light…seems as if five minutes were converted into five hundred years, plunging three of us into despair. During these five minutes, I hadn’t heard anything from Prashant.
At last, alarm came to halt and so did our combined misery. The room was bathed in the tube light.
