:confused:A car just passes & says loudly............. a group just roars & shouts passionately........... "Guns & guts are made for jats..........."
:confused:Well....... the phrase is heard often & used too, by we Jats! May I know why? I mean, simply speaking, guns symbolises power and guts symbolises the means used to show power, so what is the underlying idea behind this solid statement often leaves me thinking !! Well, for that matter as is a general belief Jats are hot blooded, straight, and often arrogant....... does this "saying" points out the same fact? I do agree that we jats are more "solid" at heart i suppose, but still what makes us so different that we often boast of the guns & power? I have seen many a times the statement being used casually by casual persons for just putting it right all the acts of arrogance they do by just using this slogan!!
Jats often end up fighting at many a places where a silence can do, or they just put there noses into others' matter coz of the fundamental property of this "gut" stuff:p.........
Many a things are going in my mind including some funny and also aweful incidents too....... directly proportional to this saying!! ha ha......:p But for the time being........ let me control my guts and welcome ur "guttful" comments:cool: ........ No guns please.........please........:):p:)

I happen to have the same dilemma sometimes. Are we supposed to be gutsy and brave only because we are Jats and does that get us into more trouble then we should be into....????
I think as a section of society we should take pride as being "no nonsense" people and not arrogant and brash. Most of my friends associate Jats to be uneducated, ruff and unpolished beings and as soon as you are the opposite of that they will assume you are a Punjabi, Bania or the likes of the same. Maybe it is also to do with ignorance but also it has stemmed from some where solid.
Might sound cocky but I heard this in Batman begins and fits the bill very well "we are known by our actions, not by what's in inside" We should think before being unnecessarily aggressive or arrogant. I agree that many times silence can do very well instead of a insult or a punch.

Yes I do agree, but I feel we jats are a bit averse to silence, we just cant stop proking into the matters at hand, whether related to us or not:p Jump into the quarrel first & then enquire is anybody known involved :p:)..... join agitations & strike hard then enquire what is the issue!! :p Really hilarious but its true in many cases!!
( & here we means "jats" not me specifically for that matter !!)

Sorry dear..:)..but here i disagree with u...we cant generalise any community, religion, caste with specific behavior. Same attitude which u r referring to, can be found in sikhs guys and muslim community, which is considered to be extremeists in almost every sphere of life...
It all comes to individual's personal preferences, his/her behavior, how he/she has been brought up by his/her family and the environment....It is sheer prejudice or being unfairly judgemental about certain caste or community just becoz they have been percieved that way in past...
Here I m neither defending any community (Jat community, mine in this case) or blaming any other caste...my point is: generalisation can't be accurate in such instances.:)

Quite some time back I initiated a thread titled, " Are Jats really brave ?". That thread generated lots of heat and I received even abusive responses. Someone even went to the extent of taking legal action againts me. I once again raise the same doubts. How can we call ourselves brave if we can not protect our property from looters who steel our water pumps from tubewells ? Not a single Jat dares to step out of house and sleep at tubewell during rainy season when bendits move freely. Why we Jats can not form groups and fight thse bendits ? I know this will triger lots of heat once again. I know our folks don't even sleep outside their house from the fear of these gangs. Whole villages go almost in coma from the fear of Kacha walas... Where do our guns and guts disappear?

Yes Sir, often the guns dont work at the right place. Sorry to hear that u rcd such responses.......... this is perhaps the thing most of the jats do often, a sheer opposition of what they dont like and not what is really wrong!!

Thanx Sir for sharing your views, it really made me think again! Sir, actually many a times I am very sorry to see the position of jats, specially in villages, the culture has become so rotten! People are seen hovering around doing nothing, I mean they do work just to make their ends meet, they are neither bothered about uplifting the standard of living, nor about how their kids are being brought up without learning any good things and just hovering here & there killing time, maximum time is spent fighting on petty issues which can lead nowhere except waste of time and energy!
The irony lies in the fact that they fail to understand that they are the biggest looser...............
They take pride in dying for "aan & shaan" but sorry to say none amongst them know its true meaning............. they fight for nothing but take it to be everything! They dont think once in killing someone if the person hurts their false ego......... but they fail to understand that they are wrong........... this is the biggest folly............ just coz of sheer insensible ego!

Guns and guts are made for Jats.......
Let us look at it in detail.
Lets start with guns.......
If the guns were made only for Jats then the small arms manufacturing companies would shut down. I donot receive any brochures from Smith & Wesson, Walther PPK, Colt saying that they make guns only for people of my community.
Guts...
First of all you cannot make guts, Thats something you can have in your character, its a noun meaning courage, pluck, stamina AND also derogatorily used for a big pot belly often found in middle aged men.
So unless there is a corporation out there that specializes in manufacturing atleast guns and human entrails and sells them only to Jats as a rule, the above statement would not make sense.

It is neither guns nor the guts that run the world. It is the power of pens and thoughts that governs the world. Those with Guns and Guts serve and protect those with pens and thoughts.

...There is no doubt that the potent combination of 'race' pressure (we are 'JATS') and hot blood (I know, I know generalization is not good...but guys the argument that we tend to be short fused is kinda true) is deadly (and not good for health! More so for our own than anybody else)...
Only a real 'man' can remain cool-aloof, smile and walk away from a possible unneccessary confrontation........ and unfortunately most of us don't know how to do that!

Ya I do agree, fighting is so simple when the blood roars!! Its too easy to do what we are feeling like doing !! Tough is to take control over over senses & think what is Right.......... and what is ought to be done so that everything remains right! Head must be on shoulders for that matter!! Even when everything seems wrong!

Yes, I also think that many a times we people just waste our productive energies and power of mind in useless tussles, rather than paying some thought over how to pool various assets we possess in a manner that may yield something meaningful!

Guns and Guts made for jats...
May be cause jat and gut rhymes somewht... :p:p
Imagine!! if it is written behind a baniya's car "Guns and Guts made for Bunns"... and after reading it you see a fat lala trying to get out of the car:eek::eek:
but never the less, on a serious note i agree jats as a race are brave(hot blodded) but intelligent?I doubt.
Like some of the elder people mentioned we always end up fighting within ourselves instead of remaining together and strengthning our community. Just being a jat merely doesnt make someone brave of better than anyone else of any other community, one needs to do special to make his community special.

But I think GUNS ke alawa bhi bahut kuchh hai duniya me.
JATs are so creative also but rarely use their skills.
Why just to be confined to GUNS & GUTS only.

Yes Guns and Guts are made for jats. This is the attitude which is one of the factors why jat students of small classes like 6th or 7th, feel more macho to make gangs rather than studies. Our jat kids turn to Guns n Guts, skip studies, fails in school, don't get jobs, take guns in hand, become criminals, make cities like Muzaffar Nagar and Gaziabad proud by giving them the status of one of the most criminalized cities in the country. Who is responsible for this? Who should be blamed? - So called GUNS and GUTS. NO.. It is people like you who belive in Guns and Guts and tell these kind of stupid things. Go and ask parent of these kids that r they proud of guns and guts? Do not go further - ask ur parents whether they would like to see gun n guts or they would like to see better education and degrees in your hands. You will get the answers. In this world we do not need martial races anymore. Now a days wars are not won over by gutsy soldiers but by technology and strategy. People with Guns and Guts can only find their names in police and jail registers. So do not believe in this guns and guts crap, because it is used only against jat community and is of no use. If guns are the benchmark of prosperity or izzat then by that standards mujahideens and talibans are way ahead of us. They have better guns (not the kattas) and more guts. In todays world only stupids can believe in this guns n guts culture.

Stupid or not but many a persons are believing in this funda! Believing with a "true" understanding of the phrase can give a positive attitude but just using it as a status message without knowing the inherent meaning is absurdity though!
I think the meaning of the term is just that Jats by nature are people with courage and have an inbuilt quotient to use that courage in an effective manner irrespective of how difficult the situations turn out to be! They posses enough guts to work hard to turn destiny in their favour ! the strength can never be in Guns! It lies in the hands which carry a gun, but only if the person uses it for some cause and is pragmatic enough to make out whether the situation demands its use or not. That "head" is the sole factor and can turn a defender into a killer or vice versa.
Jats are reaching new heights but that height is very far away from the one that could have been reached if we would have been able to drive our full potential into positive direction! I can see many fellow Jats indulging into show of power! I dont quite understand that does power has to be shown! Do power lies in having guts, or applying those guts to turn into reality many a dreams every person sees but just goes from this world without being able to make them turn true not due to lack of resources or anything but coz of sheer adamancy in realising how to pool his power to make gem out of hard work ?

I donot agree with this line of thought. This line of thought has brought us down and we are considered as anathemas in the soceity and the jat word is treated with disrespect. If we have pride in our being jats we should be humane in our approach and not use strength and outspokenness where not necessary. There is a thin line differentiating between bold and stupid and we shud know where to stop.
In todays world the brawn is not a factor while brain is. In days of yore where armies used to face each other, physical strength was necessary, that too in battlefield not off it. The line of thought given by our dear Shweta is the very line which has brought us down since the jats esp the hindu jats donot know where to stop. And that is the whole point.......
The Sikh and moslem Jats have a role which their religion plays. I have never ever seen a Moslem/Sikh Jat deriding their clergy which is always treated with respect and their wishes followed. The religion is a BIG UNITARY effect in Moslem and Sikh Jats, that it keeps them in control and alligned with the line of thought. Pls donot tell me that the sikh and Moslem jats have lost their Bite by keeping in control the Guns and Guts . Some of the best soldiers are from sikh and moslem jats. They use it where required and not in unnecessary small issues which i have seen the hindu jats do. U.K has thoughts of starting to enlist a Sikh regiment on the lines of Gurkha rifles but no Jat regiment beacuse they obviously feel that sikhs are more controllable and thereby dependable.
I feel the reason for this deteriotion in Hindu Jats is the effect of the missing of the Jat religious leadship which cud and can keep the masses in line. Arya samaj is missing in action and the puranic version is anti thesis to hindu jats.
The Khaps and panchayats are irrelevent and do not play any significant part in the daily life of a jat except in cases of same gotra marriages!!!
We are missing this religio - cultural regulatory authority due to which there is a general degeneration in the jats and we try to ape from here and there and ultimately land no where. We try to make something out of the vague historical references and say that the jats were great once upon a time. Maybe we were but we lost it during the interluding generations.
We have to build ourselves again and this we can do by not following the Guns and guts but the brain power. Be cool, be dependable, speak only when required and not just for the sake of it. We have to find solutions so that we can be referred to with respect and this the Jat Khaps or the arya Samaj will not do. we have to build the future jat nation and this could be done by inculcationg the right values at home withour families. Remember it is we who are the bricks of this Jat soceity and we shud inculcate love and affection amongst ourselves within our families first, then with our neighbours and then with all. WE shud encourage our children to be good citizens . and lastly and most impotatntly we have to find the right set of people to lead us and i feel developing a jat clergy will go a long way in uplifting the jats from the down trodden and disliked status.
Thank you.

Arun ji, even I have always been of the same opinion as yours, as regards to the aforesaid sentence which was and is also used nowadays as a symbol of pride & superiority by us Jats. I too believe that if we have such inherent qualities & these makes us different from others then also, instead of boasting about what we have, we must pay heed to what we dont! There is lots to be done, a long way ahead.
But, as regards to your quotes about "Arya Samaj" , I would like to differ a bit coz I feel it has many a teachings worth praising. If its not that effective or has some flaws, then that doesnt puts a question mark on its brighter side. It may be a prey to some negativism too, but thats nothing new as every good thing has its other side too!

Shweta you are very positive which is good but we cannot be positive to the extent of being impractical. I will narrate a small incident from history to make my point.
When Mohd Ghauri attacked Somnath temple there were three thousand priests in the temple and equal no. of other people outside . The priests ran inside the temple and closed the doors of the temple. They all started to pray and ring the bells saying that Kanha aayo, hamme bachao, but no one fought the Mohammedans thinking that Kanha will save them. But alas the only one to come in was Mohd Ghauri and he killed all of them. The moral is " Yes God is there but it is we have to make the right actions , he can only show us the right path".

Well........such type of impression on other caste ppl has been cropped by us. ........and it has not built in a day....In the present sphere, other caste ppl treat us as non-fragile and aggressive........not uneducated.....it's a matter of past...........
Moreover, what ppl think abt us that must be a frivolous issue.......after all we can not change our basic characteristics........ !!........
