Hi
I need information from Jatlanders who have enough knowledge about Bangalore...I would need the following info:
1. Places in Bangalore(Roads) where most of the IT companies are located. I heard, they are mostly around MG road but where else? Is there a Bangalore map which shows the location of most of the companies.
2. What are the best places to live? Multi-storey appts or independent homes...Pl. give the name of colonies, their approx. distance from the center and time to travel.
3. And the schools and again their distance from center. Also, on a normal day, how much time it would take someone to reach the school given the condition of traffic etc.
4. Travel times? Which roads are really congested and amount of time spent during travel. Is it really high? I read it in many forums that the travel times are pretty high. Or it's just the hype?
Any information in this regard will be really helpful. If you have some additional info or pics or maps, you can mail them at: navin.farswal@gmail.com
Thanks
Navin

Most of the Bigger IT companies are in 1) ITPL 2) Electronics City. This is because only these two areas have provided them ample space to build their campus. Other companies, which have smaller workforce are still working from MG road etc..but they are also moving out from there.
2. What are the best places to live? Multi-storey appts or independent homes...Pl. give the name of colonies, their approx. distance from the center and time to travel.
If your company is in E-City, best place to live is a) Koramangala b) BTM c)Jayanagar d) JP Nagar. This is because these areas have good north indian people staying. So you can find many northie restaurents etc in vicinity. Also, if your office is in ITPL, apart from these places, even Airport Road area is good to stay.
3. And the schools and again their distance from center. Also, on a normal day, how much time it would take someone to reach the school given the condition of traffic etc.
There are good schools in Koramangala and near MG Road. Almost every school has its fleet of buses. From there places, it should not take more than 30-45 mins for a good school in nearby area.
4. Travel times? Which roads are really congested and amount of time spent during travel. Is it really high? I read it in many forums that the travel times are pretty high. Or it's just the hype?
If you wish to travel inside OLD bangalore, its pretty difficult. Especially, morning till 8-10 am and evening 6 till 9 pm. But the areas whcih I have written above are just in peripherial Bangalore... so you can avoid traffic... Now a days, for E-City there is dedicated 11 KM elevated highway coming, so travel time to e city would be really less after that.
Any information in this regard will be really helpful. If you have some additional info or pics or maps, you can mail them at: navin.farswal@gmail.com
