Worthy members, people come here and give one liners that enough serious talks are not undertaken out here. But i feel that numerous social issues of importance are being started each day but the response level is very poor on such posts....WHY? Still i am starting this thread with a purpose that we educate ourselves through diverse inputs on the subject matter. In our country we undertake strike to compel the govt to agree to our demands,we block roads to cause miseries to our fellow beings, burn buses and rails, destroy property but i am yet to see a strike demanding Lawful duty from majority of our citizen. Can we progress like this or will that progress take us any where?Aren't we too greedy and selfish when it comes to combined good and national interest.....Please have your say.

.
To be very short and to sum-up, Dev ji – this only reminds me of the famous words of President John F. Kennedy:
"Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country."

Dev ji
Would like to share few lines with u and wonderfull jatlanders.
Our right to…
Live, work, and play in a municipality that promotes community safety, health, and wellness, while safeguarding the natural environment.
Live in a municipality in which all mandated services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
Live in a municipality in which citizens receive value for their property tax dollar.
Live in a municipality that plans and manages growth responsibly, including the building, maintenance, and renewal of appropriate infrastructure.
Live in a municipality that attracts, retains and promotes productive and effective employees committed to their own on-going professional training and growth.
Live in a municipality that enhances the quality of life of its citizens by providing services beyond those mandated by law.
Live in a municipality whose government communicates effectively with its citizens.
Our responsibility to…
Avoid behaviour that threatens the safety, health and wellness of fellow citizens or the integrity of the natural environment.
Acknowledge that municipal services are finite, to be shared fairly with fellow citizens.
Acknowledge that our security and well-being is built on the willingness of each of us to seek the common good.
Acknowledge that the orderly growth of our city depends on proper planning, which requires citizen participation.
Acknowledge that the financial stability of our city and the services we expect it to provide depend in part on the taxes we pay, and that as a consequence new services and new infrastructure must be affordable.
Acknowledge that staff are professionals, and citizens as well; that they deserve to be treated as such; and that as skilled workers they are best retained by competitive salaries.
Remember that communication is a mutual affair, and that voting is the most basic form of communication between citizens and their elected representatives.

Hamare Faraz
You should/must contribute to sectoral, family and self development and to promote social and inter-generation understanding and gender equality. I must extend respect to teachers and elders, parents and the family, in consonance with our cultural norms and traditions. we should uphold the unity and integrity of the Nation, maintain peace and harmony, observe Fundamental Duties and respect the Fundamental Rights and Freedoms guaranteed under the Constitution to all sections of the people. Every responsible citizen must respect others’ faiths and beliefs in the religious, cultural and social spheres and to different schools of thought and to neither exploit nor be instrumental in the exploitation of fellow citizens and other persons, especially women. I will promote appropriate standards of ethical conduct in individual and social life, to maintain honesty and integrity of character and be committed to fight against all forms of corruption, social evils and practices. We must try to preserve and protect the Environment; and To commit themselves to create a discrimination and exploitation free environment and to devote their time and energy in nation building activities

Kaku!
I shall contribute that " Little knowledge is always dangerous" and and most of our countrymen either have little or no knowledge about the duties and the rights. With so much of aggression and selfishness, we will not progress this way.
Progress of nation depends upon the quality of hardwork or input, civic sense, awareness, respect for duties and unanimous feeing of upliftement among the citizens of a country.

Its very true, people ask for their rights alws, n sideline their duties mostly. Well here i wont go in details of who does what, how or what one shud do, n what n how I do. As you ve mentioned about the serious threads n less frequent replies on them,, yea its seen,, but the point here is also not to look for the reasons why is it so? I ve observed sometimes some people also having opinions that no use of sheer discussions, unless they are implemented into actions. I never feel so,, in discussions also there's too much to learn, it only depends on how one takes them. Even from the different posts on various other lighter threads, there's lot to learn through observations.
Now I come to the line which I ve highlighted in your post. Thou its true in most of the cases, the situation is same as you ve described. But in recent times, in some of the cases, there ve been protests by masses for the good cause that Truth shud prevail n the guilty shud be punished. As we saw in the cases of Jessica Lal n Priyadarshini Mattoo murders. In both these cases, justice was sought finally after the intervention n protests by common men of the society for the good will of society and for a genuine cause. And the best part of these protests were, they were the most peaceful protests, no agitation, no destruction.

sach bola sir... bilkul thiek...
and as Neelam said implemnt karein toh bahut achha hai agar nahi kar paatein toh bhi discussion se bahut kuch seekhne ko milta hai...
Haan Adhikaar bahut chahtein hai hum par responsibilities se bhaagtein hai...
adhikar karne mein koi burai nahi par samay aane par responsibilities ko bhi poori tarah samajhna chahiye aur unhe nibhana chahiye...
kaka aap logon se humein bahut kuch seekhne ko milta hai... issliye parrostein rahiye aapne thoughts... jinko padna hai woh hamesha hi padheinge... aur jinhe nahi then its individaul taste...
khair kaka aisa nahi hai ki log reply nahi kartein... haan kam reply aatein hai par kaafi baar kuch khaas likhne ko nahi hota... unnecessarily kuch bhi likhne se better hai wait karo aur achha likho... par iska matlab ye nahi ki JLanders unn threads ko padhtein nahi... kyonki no of hits ration kaafi achi hai... so log padhtein hai par reply nahi kartein...
anyways kaka... aapk aise msgs se kuch toh changes aayenge... bahut achha...:) reset in next post
