Please share your knowledge and perception to help me understand the significance of the 'red powder called Sindoor' filled in a Hindu married woman's hair parting.
1. What exactly is the significance and meaning of it?
2. How old is this tradition and it's roots?
3. What is the red powder made out of?
4. Is it also part of a Jat culture, tradition and rivaaz?
5. Is there a perticular shlok/ mantra in Vedas to perform this ritual at the Vivah Sanskaar Vidhi?
6. Is it also part of a Arya Samaaj Vivah Sanskaar Vidhi?
And or any other questions, myth etc. related to it....
I hope to gain a clear concept about it by the end of this thread.:)
