Our Defence Ministers

I was going through the story of Mr Pranab Mukherjee being frisked at Moscow airport (http://www.indianexpress.com/story/229486.html). This reminded me of the similer treatment meted to Mr George Fernandes in USA while he was Defence Minsiter. I wonder what sorts of defence ministers we have and what shame they bring to the nation. Is this the great Indian power emerging? Can India do the same to Russian defence mister or American defence secretary ?

Ohh no not again !!

It become a fashion to strip-search Indian Defence Minister now a days. It begins all over from US , now our very old friend Russia joins the Strip-Search club mind you British and Germans are in Q !!

It is shocking and outrageous to hear such a treatment mete out to the Indian Defence Minister. We are number one in setting pathetic security standards. Western people are welcomed as if they are branded as safe trespassers in our country. There should not be a compromise when it comes to National Security. Indians are not bigoted in feeling insulted with the treatment meted out to our Defence Minister on an official visit.

As long as we are termed as "Soft State", we will continue to be taken for granted.This kind of arrogant unilateralism from the worlds only superpower fuels our need for a more multilateral world order.

Remember we give a red carpet to even an American dog with snaps splashed all over the media during Bush's visit to Rajghat, when sniffer dogs sniff on the brink of Rajghat for security reasons and Indian Agency happily allowed them. PM Manhoman Singh waste no time in breaking the protocol to receive Bush and his allies at airport.

If Defence Minister of India can be treated like that, the plight of other countrymen is beyond my imagination.

Sorry for this error on Mr Mukherjee. Don't know why his earler defence portfolio remains in my brain... Moral of the story is that even our most important ministers can be treated like this and we keep quite. Should we call it our maturity or stupidity ? Whatever one can call it, but we are certainly a gutless nation.

I concur. As far as I am concerned most of these politicians donot represent me.....they are corrupt to the core....... If they are travelling on the road.....there will be blockades placed everywhere....if someone like me accidently steps past these blockades while some piece of $hit politician is travelling...I might be beaten up or arrested......in my OWN country. I have no respect for them.....He should be strip-searched.....at an Indidan airport....I dont care for the Russians.......they are impoverished, moronic, idiots anyways and the Americans are just broke idiots - I donot include all Russians and Americans - lot of them are good people.

In these matters India usually does a tit for tat.

The article clearly states at the end that India is likely to respond in a
similar fashion. That is how these things are handled. There are diplomatic
ways of handling these things.

Two things here:

First these politicians have no moral fabrics and should be dumped in a deep gutter but by our own people and not by Russians or Americans as they are part of us and when they get insulted like this it is INDIA which gets insulted.

Second thing is that we are still slaves of our habits.Specially our politicians love to be inferior and accepting themselves the creatures of low...very low self esteem.what can you expect from these kind of corrupt and sycophants. They are just good to do CHAMCHAGIRI,EXPLOIT THE SENTIMENTS OF POOR COUNTRYMEN and snore after hogging like a pig.Useless idiots.
