A brief note on Prithvi Raj (III)Chauhan:
Prithviraj Chauhan was the last Hindu king to sit upon the throne of Delhi.
Delhi continued to be under the control of muslim rulers untill the British period. In the first Battle of Taraori (misspled as Tarain) (1191 CE) Muhammad Ghori invaded Prithviraj's domains. Prithvi Raj defeated Ghori.
He begged his captor for mercy and release. Prithviraj's ministers advised against pardoning the aggressor. However, the chivalrous and valiant Prithviraj respectfully released the vanquished Ghori.
Second Battle of Tarain (1192 CE): The very next year, Ghori repaid Prithviraj's gesture by again invading Prithviraj's kingdom with a stronger army. Again, the two armies met at Tarain. The Hindus followed a traditional practice of battling only between sunrise and sunset. Ghori attacked the surprised Rajput army before daybreak and thus emerged victorious.
As a prisoner Prithvi Raj haughtily looked straight into the Ghori’s eyes. On this Ghori made Prithvi blind.
Even after loss of his sight, he did not lose courage. He along with his poet friend Chand Bardai killed Ghori and then stabbed themselves to put a chivalrous life to an end. Prithvi Raj rather sought his death himself than being killed by Ghori's army. Such was the life of this great warrior and saviour of his subjects.
Even today Afghans vent their anger on Prithviraj's Grave by stabbing on it through a rope & then pay accolades to their defeated king Ghori. It's a pity that the Indian Government who is engaged in the construction work of a war ravaged country has no time to pay honour or renovate the grave of a Valiant King. Our honourable Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi had time to visit Babur’s grave and pay ‘homage’ (if I may add, to please a section of society) and not to our very own Indian.
It is not a matter of which caste he belonged to but what he did and who he was – A great Indian king. His is a story only heard in hypothetical story books. However he was for real and died and lived in way which is worth saving his grave of malicious people.
Some part of Indian tax payer’s income goes into the resurrection of Afghanistan and we have the moral right to question the dilapidated state of the grave. People who beat up the grave should come and see Humayun’s tomb in India – a contrast in the treatment meted out and maintenance.
We request our fellow citizens to pass this mail forth to each and everyone and request Indian Government to take up this issue forth with the Government of Afghanistan. Either the remains should come back or treated with respect.
I hope and expect every Indian will take sometime off his/her valuable time to pass this on and put this little (even if it is like a drop in the ocean) effort to save the grave of our martyr.

Rightly pointed out...apane kisan suicide kar raahe hain, magar sarkar dusron key ghar bhaar raahe haiin...I wonder afghanistan ki vote kyaah inh politicians koh mil sakti haiin kyaah?
Saari dunia koh malum hai ki bharat men kitne logon key paas 2 vakt ki roti naheen hai...fir bhi dikhane men lag raahe haiin ki hum kitne dayaalu hain...
I don't think the afghanistan will return the favour. In the end, they will support their brethren as usual.

Shahbudin Ghauri (Ghori) and the Jats

Shahbudin Ghauri (Ghori) and the Jats
1191 CE or Samvat 1248
In the aftermath of the loot of Mahmud of Ghazni, the people had lost
their faith in temples, mutts and the Panda priests. The Gurus and
sadhus were still revered. The petty kingdoms were fighting among
themselves.
The petty rajas would spend their time in fighting over women and
marriages. Eight months of the year would be spent like this. They
were indolent and their time was spent in lustful activities. The
Charan Bhats would spend their time making up false stories to please
their masters, and cause their masters to quarrel and fight with each
other. The country was divided into petty kingdoms. Only around Delhi
the Republic of the Sarv Khap of Haryana was stable, and free from
these lowly conditions.
Afghanistan was the seat of the Gaur /Ghaur Clan. They were quite
powerful. With the advance of the Arab Jihad, they lost and converted
to Islam. Mahmud Ghazni had seized their kingdom by treachery.
Allaudin mounted an attack on Ghazni, seized it and destroyed it.
Ghazni at time was one of the more beautiful cities in the world.
Allaudin spared the tomb of Ghazni and put the rest of the city to
fire, the inhabitants of the city were enslaved. In 1213 Vikram Samvat
Allaudin died.
Gyasuddin became King after Safudin and Vahiudin. His younger brother
Shahbudin followed him.
Chitrarekha Nag, was a beautiful Indian dancing girl, who had been
brought from India by Husain the son of Shahbudin's paternal Uncle.
(Chacha). Shahbudin also passionately desired this dancer. Mir Hussein
took this dancer and ran way to Ajmer, where he took shelter with
Prithviraj Chauhan. Prithviraj Chauhan also became infatuated with
this dancing girl.
At that time the Chauhans were to be found in Ajmer. Vigraraj was the
earlier the ruler. In Delhi, Prithviraj Chauhan was ruling. He was son
of the daughter of the Tanwar (Tomar) Anandpal. In Kannauj Jaichand
Gahadwala, was in power. In Bengal Luxman Sen. in Bundelkhand Parmal
Chandela had his capital at Mahobeh. In Malwa, Bhoj of the Parmar clan
was ruling. In Gujarat in Anhilwara Bhimdev Solanki was in power.
Anhilwara was a famous city in India and the Chauhans were afraid of
the Anhilwara might.
Shahbudin took the excuse of Chitrarekha and mounted a siege on Ajmer,
in 1191 CE but lost.
The Sarv Khap Panchayat supported Prithviraj Chauhan with 22,000 Mulls
or warriors. The leader was a Rajput ,Udaybhan and the deputy
commander were Hriday, of the Brahmin caste. The left wing of Ghauri's
army was annihilated by the Sarv Khap army.
In the next battle between Shahbudin Ghauri at Khanderao, the Sarv
Khap sent 18,000 Mulls. They pushed Ghauri troops back 25 miles.
The Head of the Sarv Khap Panchayat, at the time was Dunghar Jat. The
Deputy head was Harish Chandra Taga (Tyagi). Sheoram Das, Kayasth and
Shyam Prasad Bania were the Treasurers. Ram Dayal Bhat was the
incharge of diplomatic communications. He was a learned man. He would
always give sound advice. He would teach the Mulls (warriors) well, ad
keep a sharp eye on them. The Panchayati heroes never let bad or
depraved habits enter their company. Where the rajas were sunk in
depravation, the Panchayati republic was the abode of the Gods themselves.
A Bhat ( Bard) Hariprakash painted an accurate picture of the depraved
conditions of the monarchial courts. The rajas had become
characterless. They would fight over women. Only the Sardars (leaders)
of Mohabah were immune. They did not succumb to the high low casteism.
Prithviraj lost many of his leaders in these blood sport fights over
women. Prithviraj had become a fallen person, and was found drunk day
and night in his harem of prostitutes. The court was full of women
talk. Heroism had rusted. Prostitutes would dance daily in the courts.
The eyes were closed to the Islamic Jihad.
The Chauhan, Rahtors, and Chandelas were being destroyed by in
fighting. Prithviraj went to war with Jaichand over a woman. He
brought many women to his harem in this manner. On his taking and then
leaving a woman of a Rawa clan, the Sarv Khap broke off relations with
him.
Seeing these conditions, Shahbudin Ghauri once more attacked Delhi in
1193 CE. Prithviraj had lost many of his commanders in these petty
bloodsport fights. Chandra Bhan Bhat somehow got Prithviraj out of his
Harem. A 50,000 strong army was collected. The son in law of
Prithviraj, Samar Singh, brought 12,000 troops from the Raja of
Chittor. The Sarv Khap contributed 18,000 troops, and in this manner
the army's strength was raised to 80,000. The army was very strong,
but a traitor rajput, Vijay Singh joined the army of Ghauri.
This battle was fought near Thaneswar (modern Haryana near Karnal).
Rana Samar Singh and the Sarv Khap army fought for three days. The
enemy could not advance one inch. A great warrior Sagar Singh Rohrd
led the Panchayat army. The assistant commanders were three Jats, 5
Gujars, four Ahirs, three rajputs, two Sainis, four Brahmins.
Hardhan, Mardhan, Jungam, Bugli were four warriors of the Jat Dahiya
clan. When these 30,000 warriors had been sacrificed, then the 50,000
strong army of Prithviraj Chauhan advanced.
The seasoned warriors of this army had already been lost, sacrificed
to the blood sports of Prithviraj. The army was consisting of new
green recruits. They were brought up in a life of ease, women and
drink. In an hour they ran away, and the battle was over. Prithviraj
was captured, and Shahbudin hoisted his flag of victory over Delhi.
In 1194(1251 Vikram S), Jaichand was defeated.
When Shahbudin Ghauri was going back to Afghanistan, the Khokkar Jats
attacked him on the banks of the Sindhu River. The General of the
Khokkars, Anirudh, cut off Ghauri's head in Vikram Samvat 1262 ( 1205 CE).
His slave commander Kutubudin Aibak succeeded Ghauri, and the
Panchayat fought many battles with him
Prithviraj Chauhan was taken to Afghanistan where he was blinded and
tortured to death,
The Jat reaction:
1. THE HISSAR PANCHAYAT ( 1251 Vikram Samvat, 1194 AD)
The SarvKhap called a Panchayat at Hissar (now in modern Haryana) in
VS 1251 (1194 AD). It was a very large and well-attended panchayat.
While the Panchayat was in progress, Kutub U Din 's army attacked
them. The SarvKhap army fought hard with the enemy. A fierce battle
took place. Many soldiers were killed on both sides. The enemy Muslim
soldiers could not stand up to the brave SarvKhap soldiers, and were
defeated and ran away. They were killed in great numbers. The
SarvKhap army was victorious in this battle. (The history of the
Panchayat of the 18 Khaps- Author Ramsingh Sahityaratan).
2. THE PANCHAYAT OF BHAJU AND BHANERA, (1251 VS (1194 AD),
Jyesta, Sudhi Teej.
(Held under the stewardship the Khap Baliyan, (who were the ministers
of the Sarv Khap at Shoron, district Muzzafarnagar.)?
In the jungles of Bhanu Banera a great panchayat was held. People
from all jatis (castes) participated. There were 30,000 attendees of
whom there were 15, 000 Mulls (Warriors). Most the participants were
Jats
The chairman of the panchayat was chosen to be Chaudhry Vijay Rao,
who was of the Baliyan Khap, and a resident of Sisauli.
The Jat Gogarmull was chosen as the chief general of the
Mulls (Warriors).
This panchayat was called to discuss and deliberate upon the defeat
of the Chauhans and the Rathores (Prithviraj Chauhan and Jai Chand
Rathor) by Mohamad Ghauri.
The chairman of the Panchayat gave a resounding speech, some extracts
of which are as below:
Explaining the reasons of the defeat of the Chauhans the Chairman
said:
" His (Prithviraj's) character had fallen. He was drunk day and
night, and spent his time in the harems. His focus had strayed from
looking after the well being of the population, maintenance of
military skills, teaching his soldiers military skills, and
protection of the nation. His Senapati (general) and his soldiers
also became drunks and developed bad habits and behavior. Jaichand
Rathore betrayed the nation by going against him. At the end he
(Jaichand) too received the reward of death."

Well I understand and respect your sentiments.... But don't you think in the present scenario there are other issues which demand us to be together and move ahead with.
He was great king and I personaly admire him a lot but this does not motivate me to think of bringing this issue....Its all abt living....If we really want to show our respect to him..let us try to follow what he followed and taught us instead of mourning about something which may not be of that relevance. Instead we can show our true respect to him.....by standing for something what he faught for. That way probably we can make him alive...and let him live...

We have coins of this period. On one side is inscribed "Muhammad bin Sam"
other side is "Prithvi Raj Dev"
that means both were ruling together at Ajmer.
after one year Prithvi acted to be smart with gauri and Gauri immediately killed him in conspiracy with his son.
later his grandsons shifted to Ranthumbhore, and found a new Chauhan empire over there.

Dear Gahlaut Ji,
I don't understand the value of your posts?
What is the bravery in destroying a grave? To me it is sign of weakness. You could not fight him while he was alive, so take your revenge from the deadbody for that can't fight back.
It may be a good idea to contribute some thing that helps the other readers in discussing the subject matter.
This is a website. People from all parts of society have access to it. By reading your posts they will only get alienated from our community and that is not a good thing to happen in a civilized society.
These are my honest suggestions. By no means I intend to restrict your imagination and creativity.

But I have a bit different view. Its history. All that happend in history may not be good and correct. There was breaking and looting of temples (Somnath etc.), treacheries by various rulers and people. Dasrath marrying three ladies, Draupadi marrying five men.... Cannibalism in Jats as says Herodotus....etc. Even this Adhai Din ka Jhompda at Ajmer was a converted mosque from Hindu or Jain school or temple. History is not a sweet subject that can be written as per our own will. The idea here was to let all Jats know that Prithvi Raj Chauhan's grave is not in Afghanistan. Thats not research but standard 11th class history of our text books. Gauri was not killed by Prithviraj but Khokhar Jats, this topic has been discussed here for long. Its Jats history that is being hijacked. So at least our own Jats must be aware of that and must not contribute from their side at least. If anybody gets alienated when Jats discuss true history, let them do. Its agreed that its open web site and a few people here are not Jats, like one Ram Singh from Seekar came once. They always talk against Jats interests. He had to be expelled ultimately from this Jatland by the moderators. We have to be aware and smart enough to tackle such people.

These kind of stories need to be taken with a liberal dose of salt.
There is a tendency to accept, whatever Herodutus wrote, as ' actual history'.
What he wrote was, basically, and that should not be unexpected, a bunch of hearsay.
Then there is the question of whether he is referring to the Jats or not.One may well aks for bettre proof than ha sbeen advacnce dso far
Communication in 500 BCE was not as good as it is today.
We,all, have a tendency to see the ancient past though a prism of the 21st century.
The Prithviraj story has been distorted over the centuries, to suit the various ends of various groups.
A more rational approach, is to treat the material from Herodotus, and other writers as raw material, and re-interpret that, with the, vastly greater, knowledge available to us today.

Can you please make my post readable at first instance, what I wrote, that means not in thumbnails, but in bold and capital letters.
Yes you are correct:
1. Herodotus describes egypts pyramids and they really are as they are. So, perhaps he really visited them.
2. He makes gold ant making story regarding India. That some special ants used to make gold in India. Thats basically false.
Gold was always imported in India mostly done by Jats of Sindh. Thats why Duryodhan married his sister with Jaydrath.

Even Muhmd Tughlak got killed at Thatta. I feel near Sindh. That again justifies Jats connection with Sindh. Whenever, any Delhi/Hastinapur/Mathura/Agra emperor wanted gold, he attacked port towns of Jats. India was known well due to its important geographical position on sea trade route.
Similar was Iran, the Persia wherefrom the concept of Paras money comes. There existed no money/mani like Paras that can convert Iron into gold. Its again the same story of trade in Persia that led to the concept of Paras money.

So, Samudragupta united all India like from Nepal a land locked country to the ocean. hence he was too proud of his mother from lichhavis of nepal, like that of Budha. Guptas issued maximum number of gold coins in history. So, perhaps, due to that reason a ruler like Samudra Gupta used to be there. That Jat converted the dark age of Indian history into a golden period. never to be substituted before or after him???

We have to be aware and smart enough to tackle such people.
truely convinced.........................:):)

I feel that you got offbeat. There are many great people here who do not know jats interests, knowingly or unknowingly. say about history or reservation of Jats:)

On the other bank of river Indus, lived Indian Getae. Allexander was informed that realising fully well that they are too small in number as compared to Allexander's army, yet they chose to fight. Leaving their women and children to some undisclosed locations, every man from 18-50 yeras was ready to fight.

True
Herodotus heard about Massagetae from Scythian who in turn heard from others.Gold ants ,Black Semen ,Open Sex ,polyandry all seems just hearsay accounts.
Oh, this father of History! Wrote all accounts about Jats History. A true traveller in search of history he was. To the best of my knowledge, he did visit Egypt. And as per his descriptions Egyptian pyramids are as they were.
But he never visited Indian Getae like Chingheze, the Jamugha

I feel that Jats/Getae never practiced Cannibalism. Alas! such historian realy if could have visited a true Indian Jat village of India.
Oh, that sense of belongingness, oh, that sense of trueness,....
An old Jat sitting on his death bed like bhishma telling his kins folk that such n such person helped us never forget his gratitude.
At, the same time, telling them that such and such person harmed us never forget your enmity against them
if you so give me your words, my clans men, then I'll die in peace

good navigators Jats were. Was a movie like "Water World" upon Jats. That Jat never jokes. Its after Rashtrakutas that Chola Jats are regarded as the most powerful navy of India/world.

Ruchika that should be higligted among some debate and a there should be live debate on this topic
