Jatland’s Wiki Section Books on Jat History (http://www.jatland.com/home/Books_on_Jat_History) now contains text of a rare book connected with the freedom movement of India - The Autobiography of Ramprasad ‘Bismil’. This book was in fact banned by British Raj in India immediately after its first edition was out some time in 1930 or so. The book, however, was published after Independence by some Arya Samaj outfits, including by Haryana Sahitya Sansthan, Gurukul Jhajjar (Haryana).

Many of us have heard about Ramprasad Bismil but know very little about him. Bismil was the great freedom fighter and poet who also wrote the famous tarana (song) – Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna Perhaps no other song, with the exception of Bankim Chandra's Vande Matram, induced so many young men to lay down their lives for the motherland than this song written by Ram Prasad Bismil.

This great son of India was hanged to death by British Raj on 19 December 1927 inside Gorakhpur Jail. Bismil wrote his autobiography (in Hindi) in his prison-cell. Please read its full text on the following link of Jatland Wiki:

oh, that man Bismil, that converted Ashphaq ullah khan into a krantikari. I envied even Bhagat. Punjab govt recognised Bhagat and objected to his hat, but recognised his photo where this Jat ram was sitting on a charpai, without any hat...

but Sir, some Jat Genda Ram used to be there, jis ko dast lag gaye the. kitti palwal/hodal ke aas pass ka tha yo genda ram???

Not a Jat, his name was Pandit Gainda Lal Dixit, the main mind behind "Mainpuri Conspiracy". There is a special paragraph dedicated to him in the second chapter of Bismil's autobiography which can be read on Jatland Wiki.

Great work Dayanand ji. It required a lot of labour by you. I have done some formating on Wikipedia as Hindi is a separate language there. Each language article is indicated on left panel under "In other languages". Hindi Wikipedia has welcomed as under and considering to make it a Wiki Source

human sacrifice/mrityu dand/capital punishment was common in gwalior and teoti-huccan forts. and perhaps similar was common in Rome also, and perhaps everywhere. then why on discovery channel teoti-huaccan forts are being criticised.

"The question is not that human sacrifice was being practiced over there. but even bigger is that why???"

asks discovery (history) channel.

Though this is out of track, but even I've seen gwalior fort. and arrangement for mass execution of criminals by throwing them from the fort is there. This was due to the reason that Chambal was nearby. And many people there were of disobedient type. Similar situation continued till today.

What Arya Samaj did was to channelize the energies of these people in positive direction i.e. towards Swatantrata Sangram.

(Dainik Jagran, 18 December 2007)

rigveda mentions brahmans as one of the 16 royal clans of Jats n not aryans, who as history says manipulated all laws in their favour. but when these brahm(an) returned back to their original indo-gangetic plain to teach Jats sermons of hindu/aryan culture Jats re-buffed him. Oe kahan se aa kar kahan kisi original Jat ko kya theory, Jat/got ki sikha raha hai..

Jat then treated brahman as another person living in village like nai...or another service provider for marriages...nowhere in indo gangetic plain/india brahmin was treated like this on merits...

Here is a short extract from the book ”Modern India”, a history text book for Class XII, written by Communist historian Bipin Chandra and published by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) (April 1990 Edition, pages 240-242). At many places, the word ”terrorist” has been used for our freedom fighters like Bismil and Bhagat Singh.

<O:p</O:pQUOTE

Another reflection of the new mood was the growing activity of the revolutionary terrorist movement which too was begnning to take a socialist turn. The failure of the First Non-Cooperation Movement had led to the revival of the revolutionary movement. After an all India Conference, the Hindustan Republican Association was founded in October 1924 to organise an armed revolution. The Government struck at it by arresting a large number of terrorist youth and trying them in the Kakori Conspircy Case (1925). Seventeen were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment, four were transported for life, and four, including Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqulla, were hanged. The terrorists soon came under the influence of socialist ideas, and in 1928, under the leadership of Chandra Shekhar Azad, changed the name of their organisation to the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA).

They also gradually began to move away from the individual heroic action and terrorism. But the brutal lathi-charge on an anti-Simon Commission demonstration on 30 October 1928 led to a sudden change. The great Punjabi leader Lala Lajpat Rai died as a result of the lathi blows. This enraged the youth and, on 17 December 1928, Bhagat Singh, Azad and Rajguru assassinated Saunders, the British police officers who had led the lathi charge.

In Bengal too, revolutionary terrorist activities were revived. In April 1930, a well-planned and large-scale armed raid was organised on the government armoury at Chittagong under the leadership of Surya Sen. This was the first of many attacks on unpopular government officials. A remarkable aspect of the terrorist movement in Bengal was the participation of young women. The Chittagong revolutionaries marked a major advance. Theirs was not an individual action but a group action aimed at the organs of the colonial state.

The government struck hard at the revolutionary terrorists. Many of them were arrested and tried in a series of famous cases. Bhagat Singh and a few others were also tried for the assassination of Saunders.

Bhagat Singh defined socialism in a scientific manner – it meant the abolition of capitalism and class domination. He also made it clear that much before 1930 he and his comrades had abandoned terrorism. In his last policital testament, written on 2 February 1931, he declared: ”Apparently, I have acted like a terrorist. But am not a terrorist. ...Let me announce with the all the strength at my command that I am not a terrorist and I never was, except perhaps in the beginning of my revolutionary career. And I am convinced that we cannot gain anything through those methods”.

The revolutionary terrorist movement soon abated though stray activities were carried on for several years more. Chandra Shekhar Azad was killed in a shooting encounter with the police in a public park, later renamed Azad Park, at Allahabad in February 1931. Surya Sen was arrested in February 1933 and hanged soon after. Hundreds of other revolutionaries were arrested and sentenced to varying terms of imprisonment, some being sent in Cellular Jail in the Andamans.

Thus, a new political situation was beginning to arise by the end of the twenties. Writing of these years, Lord Irwin, the Viceroy, recalled later that ”some new force was working of which even those whose knowledge of India went back for 20 or 30 years, had not yet learnt the full significance”. The government was determined to suppress this new trend. As we have seen, the terrorists were suppressed with ferocity.
