though he subsided himself from taking his stand in the article, being off-records, i will take my stand that the way to eradicate poverity is to eliminate poorest of the poors. and i am all for it

Perfect recipe for naxalites to reach all over India. Poor will eliminate rich sooner or later if their number remains high or they will create Pakistan like situation where no one will like to invest. High time middle class and rich think with their head in right place , else they will pay through their nose...Hope media presents this version also to these so called selfish middle class people... Its in their own interest that they think of long term repercussions also.

It is not an anti-poor article; your editor is prudently pointing out the irony how only rich/middle-class get their voices heard.

However, the off-record solution you're putting forth is outlandish. In fact, appalling. Lets forget, for a moment, the concerns of RK sir and go ahead with your plan. What will happen then?

Once you eliminate the poorest of the poor, the remaining poor will naturally become the poorest. We will have to eliminate them as well. Eventually, your so-called middle-class and the rich will also become poor.

Result, instead of eradicating poors we will end up making everyone (whosoever is left) poor!

Does anybody knows if we have a wealth tax in india?
By wealth tax, i mean not only the property, but investments, liquid assets?

If we do have, how is it defined?

In my view its the so called poor people who are an important pillar of economy. They are like one electrode of a battery. For a moment make everyone rich and you will have no one to work. Take out Maxicans from USA, Biharis from Delhi, you will see the result within ours... Media is like a mother who is always partial to one child...

Good governace is about fine balance.

Every region / people will have diiferent issues and needs. What applies to a certain area/region/people may not apply to others.

One of the fundamentals of democracy is protection and rights of the most vulenrable and poor in the society and It cannot be ignored.

dude you missed the thing, not me...i know what my editor was upto...what you missed is the article was on electoral and policy propaganda...and by 'elimination' of poor, i meant their elimination from political plank...hope it's clear now...(you often misunderstand my one liners as people end up miffed seeing abstract art...i forgot on JL i must write paraphrase...
but before considering yourself of a shrinking species of intelligensia and others--this time me---as pea pod shaped brain, think twice...this much imperativeness in thought conception is not a good practice)

i refrain now...but it was due for long

The art of stating the obvious the abstract way. That, precisely, is the reason why Business Standard s(h)its at the bottom of the heap among pink papers when it comes to circulation, Ms Know-it-all. No wonder it's on its way to fell into TV18's kitty.

Although you're immune to every foreign idea, still if you say what you want to say, and I know you can, it will go a long way in reviving the dwindling fortunes of your newspaper.

As of now, sorry to say, your one-liners are no where near those of Groucho Marx, or for that matter Woody Allen. No point in using them if you need another thousand words to explain 'em.

TOI s(h)its on top notch when it comes to circulation...but content-seekers know how corny it is...as far as BS's reputation is concerned, i must say that ask ET people who did the m-commerce story copying mine merely after 3 days...(which they usually do and they admit too)

i alwyas hated the concept of judging students by marks in schools...the most stupid and orthodox criterion

rest there's no point arguing with an incorrigible

By virtue of the trickle down theory (hope you know it, if not, must've heard about the gravitational force -- oh I forgot you never took your studies seriously), the **** from top (read: ToI) will eventually fall upon the one who's there at the bottom.

Like it or not, BS (what an abbreviation! Bull$#!*) will have to take it lying down.

Anyway, congratualtions for being a victim of plagiarism. I hope and pray ET doubly checked the facts in the story; for it was coming from someone who had, all by herself, engineered a 3500-mile transatlantic shifting of a newspaper's headquarters without the people in London knowing anything about it!

Sorry for being abstract (effect of induction, you see), I m refering to this link (http://www.jatland.com/forums/showthread.php?p=148395#post148395). See, I might be incorriglibe, as you pointed it out, but I can, once in while, correct the people who are blessed (are they?) with all the knowledge of the world.

And, I'm cheering for him! :-D

After all it's been a great association of over 20 years and still going strong! Much to the possible dislike of the opposition here, TOI is the best when it comes to content & ethical journalism. Quite unlike other cheap brands that look only to sell, while TOI tells!

Cheers TOI!
