Now a days there are demands coming forward for Bharat Ratna like Atal Bihari, Tau Devi Lal and others etc. Each and every political group is targetting towards their own greeds and benefits. Even MF hussain's name is also pounded by some. Here is an article related to it, its worth going through this ...

Dont understand if we are short of Idols or what? And being judgemental is something that i hate but somehow i dont see any suitability among these purposed name of these political leaders and the prestigeous Title like "Bharat Ratna". How can they be given this award who once even failed to be Good n Successful politicians while they had enough power in hand. They all look valiant before they are crowned and act cowardly as soon get power. Hardly delievered what they promised in their Political party's agenda. And MF HUSSAIN? dear me....who doesn't even know what to paint n how to paint....i am sure all remember his controversial paintings of Indian Gods and Goddess.

In today's materialistic world where even top political leaders cann't resist themselve being attracted towards comfort, money, name & obviously fame...it becomes very difficult to award such a prestigious honour to someone.

Those were the days when nobody used to come forward to be awarded such honour until someone's not confident enough & think of himself being on such a level.

Now a days being pompous so many will come forward to claim this just to get named in such a prestigious list of Bharat Ratna awardees.

This time I personaly think it shouldn't go to some political figure irrespective of his/her name...

...This time it must go for some BUSINESSMAN or DIRECTOR of some scintific institution because of whom we are seeing day in day out rise in national economy & creation of jobs for unemployed hands.

Rahul....how can we blame only politicians for craving to get comfort? What about Dhongis who act like saints n Baba but have HUTS that are air-conditioned and dont walk without luxurious cars?People who said to have given up the MATERIAL WORLD in the name to GOD cant live without comforts then what are these politicians....mere HUMANBEINGS:) in present scenario they are fighting for this award....in near future they will APPLY FOR THE AWARDS;) we have to wait n watch

BHARAT RATAN TO A RATAN OF VATAN= COUNTRY
DESH BHAGAT SHAHEED KO HI MILNA CHAHIYE

My Bharat Ratna goes to the valiant Indian soldier.

He lives and dies for the nation, for all of us. Like the Ganga, his life is a saga that defines welfare and security for the rich and poor, for the high and the low, for a scholar extraordinary to the illiterate fellow countrymen without boundaries and discrimination. He is not rebellious to take the reins of the nation in his hands to eliminate the rogues from parliamentary democracy, but he defends and obeys the Constitution in the most impressive and exemplary manner.

He is the real saviour of Bharat, a Ratna indeed.

Having conducted the Indus festival for eight years I have seen Indian jawans in the bone chilling temperature of minus 40 to minus 60 standing straight on the defence post. It was only during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's rule that George Fernandes as defence minister provided proper hospital services including CAT scans in Siachen. Earlier, IAS babus were deciding how and what facilities jawans on those dangerous snow-bound heights should get without ever visiting the region themselves. Vajpayee and George have both risen above petty politics and endeared themselves to the common Indian as statesmen. During Pokhran -2 and the Kargil victory, their leadership shone with the Jai Jawan spirit. But they remain exceptions.

scrap this award...govt has no right to splurge our tax money like this...enough has been wasted in such bullshit...those who are worth it, seek it not; and those who seek it, are not worth it...

it's our hard earned money and govt shouldn't cut on our pocket for all these frivolous things...what if i have no interest in classical dance or dalit policies of bloody beggar jagjivan ram, what right govt has then to take contribution from my tax

high time now, to scrap this nonsense

Bahut kam chances hon hein ki mein poori terah se tere te sehamat hoya karun ... par ispe mein kati ek ek word se sehamat hun :) ha ha ha

Eeb nue batao iss Kangress ki matti nue paleet ho rahi hai ki .... aaj ye bhagat singh ke rooke maran lag-ge .... itne saal hoge azadi ke ... eeb dhyan aae inke Bhagat Singh Ki....

1) Jawahar Lala Nehru ---- 1955
2) Indira Gandhi received it in 1971
3) Rajeev Gandhi in 1991 ... marte hi de diya.
4) Maulana abul kalam azad .... 1992

Dekho iss parivar ke logon ke liye koe bhi deri nahi hui hai ... aur baki kisi ko dena ho to ye vichar karte hein ... inhone dekha ki BJP badh rahi hai to Maulana Azad yaad aa gae in pakhandiyon ko 1992 mein.

Koe bhai us taraf se ho to clear karna iss baat ko. Itne mauke ki badhiya jameen ... unhone ek colony kaati uspe aur naam rakha Kartar Singh Nagar. Aur uske shayad do bache hein jinko log bahut hi kharab batate hein ....aur videshon mein hein. Kartar Singh ne bhi kuch aacha nahi kiya jiske naam ki jameen pe khaa rahe they unke naam pe colony bhi nahi banai. So whats the benefit of it. Haan in mahapurushon ki jeevaniyan sahi dhang se bachon ke pathya karam mein lagae ... aur rajneeti se door rakhein.

You can go for the recipients till now ...

Prestigious honours also deserve some special name...

...The one who can sacrifice his vested intrest & own profits & future on account of creating some positive contribution on the national canvas.

There are so many Maestro of their own world but Bharat Ratna meant for someone who lives for whole Bharat.

There is a "Chopayee" by Tulsi Das;

Kavita kar Tulsi na lase, Kavita lasi pa tulsi ki kala

Any award has its value only if awardee really deserves. If one goes through the list of "Padam" awards, except for few, we hardly know who these people are and what their contributions are. I personally know how these awards are distributed and therefor don't have much regard. Sahid Bhagat Singh did not sacrifice his life for Bharat Ratan. Let us live life by our own convictions and not by yard-sticks of these dubious awards. I know of quite a few of very junior doctors from AIIMS who got these awards much before Prof Venugopal. I also know the politicians who got them these awards. Appointments of Vice Chancellors, Governors, Chairmen of staff selection boards, UGC etc all fall in the same category. Any award loses its value if one has to lobby for it. However, in politics this will continue and let us not bother too much about it. Nelson Mandela was also awarded Bharat Ratan. He might be great man, however, I don't understand what he contributed to India. L.N Mittal lives in UK and most of his business is outside India. One wonders how he deserves Padam Vibhushan. However, once again, why bother so much.

Charan Singh did more before Indian Independence to deserve the Bharat Ratna than some on the list like VV Giri, Zakir Hussain, Morarji Desai.
