Dear Friends,
For quite sometime I have been thinking as to how the gender ratio is affecting our community. As we most know, the ratio of girls to boys is amost 0.8 among Jats. This is leading to many social problems. Other day I was reading that many Jat boys who are unable to find brides from within community, are going all the way to tribal ares of MP and Bihar.. I do not know what will be the long term repurcussions of this in terms of gene bank of the community..Is it good or bad, I have no direct answer. Ofcourse the evil is there in our biased mentality towards male gender which is the root cause of this problem.
Biologically speaking I do not see anything wrong in our boys getting their brides from tribal areas as I very strongly beleive that in the history of migration of populations, its mainly the men who migerated many many times more than the women folk. The migrated men got married local women in most of the cases as local males were either killed in the conflict or they simply ran away out of fear. If I make a general statement that, " irrespective of who our fore-fathers were, our great great grand mothers were certainly local ladies (call them tribal or what ever). However, in modern tims this will have educational and social implications.. I am not sure how such Jat boys and their coming geration will integare into higher Jat families and many similar issues if they remain backward. So much about the problem (???) . What is the remedy? Is there anyway that majority of our Jat brothers can be persuaded to treat girls equally as boys ?
Are there any aletrnatives of getting the brides from some other sources? ( say Rusia, Eastern Europe....LOL).. I am sure if our boys are given incentive of filling up the deficiency with Rusian or similar brides, I am sure they will work harder to prove competent husbands and there might be a jat social revolution in making.....
