Dear Balraj,
Thanks for the response. No doubt computers are changing the World very fast. But NANO technology is not confined to the computers. It has much wider applications. Virtually it could cover our entire life style. Imagine self cleaning dishes, clothes. Paint which gives enough light for the house that you don't need electricity. Basically material science is going to enter new era which offers great opportunities for mankind.

Nanotechnology will provide solutions to many things which now seems difficult.
Think of passport having DNA code and if one is suspected, this code can be matched with the DNA isolated on spot and match the code right there with the code on your passport. The applications are enormous.

hello all,
no doubt nanoscience & tech. is THE future. only thing to ponder over is the timline. though there are already few products available in market based on nanotech but on whole i guess it would take 10-20 years for its realization in its fullest form (seems far?)
the seminal talk by Feynman (the god himself) given in 1959 (!!!) can be reached at this link

to find more about nanostuff you can of course google ;-)
sincerely,

Dear Dharam pal,
Thanks for the enlightenment. It is a pleasure to Introduce Dharam Pal Takhar who is doing ph.d. in Nano Technology on scholarship from Rice University. This young man did his HSC in Hindi medium then did B.Tech and M.Tech from IIT and now ph.d. in Nano Technology. Young boys and girls can get inspiration from him. He is a source of pride to his parents and all Jats who know him. God bless you Dharam pal with success in life and happiness always.

Folks,
I think you will start seeing bio-chips in next 5-10 years - computer chips which are a combination of physics and biology. There will be bio memroy chips which will be based on the technolgy in human brain which is responsible for remembring things. Sometime later, I can imagin a connection (most probably a wireless connection) by which you will be able to download or upload human brain.
Think of communicating with your friends across the world just by _thinking_ of them where the signal will just travel from your brain to the outside broadband connection to your friend in another country deciding the routes on its own, you know just like an IP packet.
Just wait, relax, fasten your seat belts and enjoy a bumpy ride as the same technology being exploited by the bad guys.
My two cents worth.

Technology is progressing fast. This evening's news says Australian Doctors have pioneered a technology of operating patients without sutures. They will rather glue things to-gether and the protein will be dissolved in the body in 6 days time.
True bad guys can also use technology. But that is focusing on negative aspect. There have always been good and bad guys and there will always be. Because without bad guys who will know what a good guy is like. these are just two sides of the coin. This fear never deterred scientists in developing new technologies and will also not do in future. Realistically speaking it is not the technology in itself which can cause problem but the intentions of the user. Science has not made that much progress as yet to change people's intention. Man has gone to moon but is yet to learn living peacefully on earth that is a great irony.
