Hi All,

I'm trying to do some resaarch on this business
of stock agents/brokers, specifically as they pertain to small town outlets. I was wondering if anyone here has knowledge/experience in this area.

Some things I am looking for:

o Viability of such a business in small towns
(eg Haryana towns). Is there sufficient interest/knowledge/demand for such services to make them viable ?

o What kind of earnings might one such outlet/branch generate ? I know this will vary a lot but just trying to get some ballpark ideas ?

o What are the resouces necessary to get started (skip the real estate) ? Eg. Computer terminals ? Membership in some trading group. etc ?

o How would one go about getting started ? Whom to contact ? Are these outlets branches of larger securities companies, or can they be individually setup.

o Given the steady movement towards online real time trading will such outlets begin to be outdated ?

Basically I am trying to understand the complete ins and outs of these business...as also other financial businesses in a small town context.

If anyone is familiar with this sort of stuff,
please post details...if you have web links of interest please provide them as well.

As an aside...I am also curious to understand how the financial portals get the stock ticker and news feeds for their portals. Do they just glean it off from somewhere ...or do they have to subscribe to some services. For instance, sites such as www.equitymaster.com...how do they get and incorporate the real time news feeds from different sources.

Please respond to no1vakil@yahoo.com. I'll be irregular here for a a few weeks (on the road and so on with folks)...so please email me any info in addition to posting it here.

Thanks for any help.
