Tand pe Bitha diye

Once upon a time Bhateri lived with his family in a village. The family was very poor. One of the four girls Seema wanted bread to eat as she was hungery. But there was nothing to eat in the house. Bhateri tried to pacify her with one excuse or the other without giving any bread to eat. Seema continued weeping asking for bread. Bhateri beat her to stop her from weeping and asking for bread. Seema continued weeping and asking for bread and even started crying loudly. The neighbour Mrs Santra came and understood the situation very quickly. Santra asked Bhateri to make Seema sit on the Tand( a self structure higher up in the room to keep surplus things there). Bhateri reacted, “ Tand pe ke Roti dhari Sai.” Santra replied, “ I know that but you make her sit there.” Bhateri ne Seema Tand pe bitha di.
>>>>>> Seema continued weeping but she stopped asking for bread. She insisted her mother to take her down from the Tand and she forgot asking for bread. The purpose of weeping shifted from ‘Roti’ to ‘Tand’. The main problems of India are Education for all, health for all, employment for unemployed, being the real problems. But the Govts. and vested interests are diverting their attention from these issues to non issues like casteism and communalism etc.

In a way the whole of India has been made to sit on Tand.

Dear Mr. Dahiya,
Very well explained. The problem is that the heading you selected for the post probably may not have attracted many people to read it. I guess some thing like "Real Problem for India" could have attracted more memebers.
I totally agree with you on the issue of Education for all. The question is we are not even planning seriously about it, leave aside implementing it. I would say, even bigger problem that needs immediate direct action is population control. Our resources are too far stretched to feed our ever growing population. Once that is under control, it will be that much easier to address other issues. But we really don't have to wait for our population control measure to give results before taking up important issues of education and health.
What is most important is that voters also have to understand these problems and their role in electing the right people to address these issues. It seems to me a distant dream to have a majority of real good polititians who can rise above party lines and castism to address national and international issues. Having said that, the beginning has to be done and at this moment educating the masses about real issues and exposing the curropt politicians would be a good idea to start with.
