Exercise is not just for Olympic hopefuls or supermodels. In fact,
you're never too unfit, too young or too old to get started. Regardless
of your age, gender or role in life, you can benefit from regular
physical activity. If you're committed, exercise in combination with a
sensible diet can help provide an overall sense of well-being. Some
of the benefits of increased activity are:

Improved Health

* increased efficiency of heart and lungs
* reduced cholesterol levels
* increased muscle strength
* reduced blood pressure
* reduced risk of major illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease
* weight loss

Improved Sense of Well-Being

* more energy
* less stress
* improved quality of sleep
* improved ability to cope with stress
* increased mental acuity

Improved Appearance

* weight loss
* toned muscles
* improved posture

Enhanced Social Life

* improved self-image
* increased opportunities to make new friends
* increased opportunities to share an activity with friends or family
members

Increased Stamina

* increased productivity
* increased physical capabilities
* less frequent injuries
* improved immunity to minor illnesses

I spend 5 days a week running/exercising. I am able to focus better at work, feel more energised, has really improved my ability to cope with stress and most important thing is keeps me out of trouble (if you know what I mean hehehehe). I read on one the posts that what do u do when you get angry. My answer is that exercise even harder. Track par chod ke ne aayo karon sun us anger ne ......

I would like to get feed back from members as to how much time they spend exercising a week and if they think that has helped them in any way.

Thanks!

I exercise abt 3-4 times a week. I lift weights, run, play sports, chase after girls (just kidding). I mainly exercise to have a nice, tone, muscular body for the ladies. It's so competitive these days to meet beautiful girls...having a nice body, killer personality and academic smarts gives me an edge over others. 8)

Jatin sir,
ur 100% right,
health is wealth,
i do get up early in morning and go to stadium for practsing Takkwondo.
martial art training is undoubtly the ultimate fitness work out as it contains all sort of different excercises like isometric, isotonic, cardio-vascular, active n passive streching, aerobicks, power training, yoga, meditaion, pranayam and spritaul n mental traing as well.
i don't get why ppl here take martial arts as a voilentic thing while it makes u a perfect dynamic gentleman n human being as it devlops physical health as well as mental n spritual which is more important.
u perhaps won't believe but martial arts have orginated in india but later devlpoed n enhaced in other asian countries liek china, japan, korea etc. Bodh monks actaully did take these arts and evoluted there.
it's quite embraceing that indians take martial arts as absurd thing and they really don't know that martial arts actually evaluated here.

tnaks,
Jit

Hello Jatin,
Well said....one must exercise on a regular basis...or else the machine starts to fail at some point or the other.Especially when the warrior race like ours has a point to prove....
As for myself, I train Taekwondo 2 to 3 times a week.More than that, my old bones can't take it.
I would highly encourage everyone to exercise rigorously, atleast twice or three times a week.
The feeling after a good workout is incredible !!

...Oh yes, 'Health is Wealth' is such an important and true fact, that it's frustrating to know that it's significance almost sounds cliched nowadays!

Anyways; One must realize that even 10-15 minutes everyday of some form of moderate to intense workout heaps really huge benefits in the long run...(I am sure none of us could ever argue that they are too busy to even take 10 minutes out from their daily schedule!) ...

In any case, personally I am not such a morning person (in fact, more of a zombie in the morning) so prefer keeping the workouts in the evening after coming back from work...[yeah, I know...exhausted but you still gotta do it]...Short (about half an hour max.) but intense-including free weights!

there is one very famous quote, I forget by whom;

" First we spoil our health to earn money and then we spend our money try to get healthy"...

Very true. Howsoever busy one is they can always find 15-20 minutes in a day to atleast do a work out of some sort whether it be lifting weights, running, taekwondo or yoga. It might be a good idea to join yoga. The feeling you get after doing a work out is indeed incredible!

I dont blame you for not being a morning person. Neither am I. Just cant wait for the daylight saving time changes to take place maybe that will help a bit (wishful thinking you know) Mahabharat, Ramayana or Chanakya dekhe pache te bhai aache aache ne neend aa jaa se main te pure weekend so sakoon su woh dekhe pache hahahaha

Very good thread.

Somebody said,

If wealth is lost, nothing is lost. If health is lost something is lost, but if character is lost, everything is lost.

People, in their youth tend to have their preference exactly reveresed to that. You got to be healthy to enjoy your wealth.

All that to signify the importance of the thread. Carry on with your pragmatic suggestions on how to invest in health.
