Kuran & Puran

Hi Friends,

For quite some time my mind has been comparing the words Kuran & Puran. They sound so similar. This makes me think if there is some common thread some where in terms of communities who produced the writers of two. Ofcourse I have my typical Jat explanation to this (kidding)...

In Kuran the K stands for Kauravas.. and
In Puran the P stands for Pandavas....

One never know if the descendents of Kauravas went to Saudi and wrote kuran and the Pandava group supported the Purans... I know its silly logic....but just to initiate some debate on the topic...LOL

the best way to reach the solutions is to go back to the roots...and if i am not wrong there are 18 basic purans these are part of 108 puranas...it is more then a lifetime reading...but we need to decode the text from kuran and puran ..i hope we will trace the common thread ..i'm going to study kuran soon...

dear rajendra ji,
i realy cant say anything about the migeration but it is for sure that in those days there was no soudi, it was only Arab or Arabia. the soudi word was prefixed by americans to please the royal family of arabia as it is the family name of the royal family. it was done in last century only.

The similarity between the two that I know is that ke dono me besir-pair ki idiotic baten likhi hui hain. Puran to brahmano ne apne swarth sidhi ke liye, kshatriyon aur baki janta ko bevkooph banane ke liye likhe the. Kuran ne jaisa beda garak dunia ka kar rakha hai vo to sabko pata hai hi.

I feel u r hurt to read my views about Purans. It is quite natural because those who do not know about Purans they feel like that - Purans being related to our ancient literature.
But when you go through the 18 Purans and 18 Up-Purans and other related material you will come to know the reality. Followers of Shiva made Shiva puran, that of Vishnu made Vishnu Puran and like that and every one projected their God as the biggest by making false stories .In this way they flattered the theory of one God.
The most painful thing about Purans is that they are full of vulger stories to the extent ,in some of the Purans, that they are no less then today available third class vulger material on the bookstalls. Dharmik drishti se ye bilkul rejected hain.
Ved, Upnishad, Darshan , Brahman etc. are the literature which make us proud.

I may be wrong, but I heard Rishi VYAS himself wrote Purans? (creater of Mahabharat). As per you Brahmans wrote them, could you let us know your source?

Sorry for late reply as I was out. Mahrshi Ved Vyas was the writer of Mahabharat and Vedant. He wrote them about 5000 years back. But the Purans were written between 2500 to 2000 years back as per Historians. The 18 Purans, 18 Up-purans and some other material were written in the name of Ved Vyas- each and every one of them containing contradictory statements , all of them abusing one another, trying to prove others inferior and all containing vulgar stories. The writers of the Mahabharat and Purans can not be the same. One more example- the writer of Bhavishya Puran has been given the name of Vyas but this Puran contains the name of Victoria and some Muslim names. Hence it is very clear that these purans were not written by the writer of The Mahabharat. My source of all this is the library of Gurukul Jhajjar and some intellectuals of Sanskrit language.
