MUMBAI: A farmer's son from a small village in Haryana proved that dreams often do come true when he was crowned Grasim Mr India.

Sunil Mann spoke in his typical Haryanvi accent at the glittering event here on Saturday evening and had no qualms in admitting that he was not very comfortable with English.

But he was confident and spoke from his heart which got him the most coveted title for men in the country.

Mann hails from a small village, Ishwarhaveli in Jhajjar district of Haryana, where he grew up on his father's farm. He even helped his father on the farm but had a dream to fulfil and left his village after schooling to pursue modelling.

"I'm proud to be the first farmer's son to win this title. For three years I was trying for this contest and god helped me to come here," Sunil Mann told IANS.

In the past, it was normally the suave English-speaking guys who won the title. So how does he attribute his victory as compared to the previous winners?

"I believe you have to speak from your heart - and when you do that god helps you an extra bit," said Mann.

Prashant Raj Sachdev an advertising professional from Mumbai won the first runner's up title. He was followed by Chadigarh's Piyush Vig, who is studying computers applications.

The event was judged by celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Sudha Chandran, Ekta Kapoor, Farzana Contractor, Manish Malhotra, Farhan Akhtar and Poonam Dhillon among others.

The final question of the round was "Is God a woman, why or why not?" Confident Sunil Mann was perhaps the first contestant who wrote out his answer much before the 75 seconds time limit.

Karan Johar hosted the event brilliantly and his sense of humour was well appreciated.

The female host was Delhi-based Manpreet Brar.

One of the contestants, when asked if he liked being a metrosexual, answered it was okay to have a feminine side to him and that he regularly waxed his legs and arms.

The Tenth Grasim Mr.India also showcased impressive performances by Grammy nominee Ustad Shujaat Hussain Khan and Satish Sharma doing a fusion act.
