Dear Uday
Thanks for your appreciation . Madan Lal Dhingra was the first freedom fighter to be hanged outside India. He was born on the 17th February, 1883, in Amritsar. His father, Dr.Gurditta Mal, was a civil surgeon. M.L.Dhingra belonged to a very rich, highly educated and loyalist family of the British Raj.Owing to his political activities, he was expelled from college. After his expulsion, he stopped accepting help from his parents and began working. With great `dignity' of labour, he worked as a clerk, a tonga driver and a labourer in a factory, where he organised a trade union and was dismissed from his job.He was hanged on 17th August, 1909. In his last statement, he said: "I am glad to have the honour of dying for my countrymen. I have attempted to take revenge for the inhuman hangings and deportations of patriotic Indian youth. As a Hindu, I feel that wrong to my country is an insult to my God. My only prayer to God is, may I be reborn of the same mother and may I re-die in the same sacred cause till the cause is successful, and she stands free".
