Dear Friends,

I was glancing through this report of an Indian businessman in USA;

http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1173722,00050001.htm

How the average Indian living in USA feels about such incidences ? Is it a general crime or the one directed towards Indians?

Rajendra Uncle,

This was an unfortunate story to read. I believe racism played a part. However, I am very glad you brought this story to my attention, and the Jatland forum. It is sad to see the American Dream marred by the few people who are ingnorant enough to think they can get away with such a cowardly act.

The article eludes to a level of indifference in the investigation of these crimes. If this is so, community involvement and political pressure must be placed on those responsible for the investigation, to ensure justice is appropriately served.

I have forwarded this article to my brother, Satveer Chaudhary, State Senator in MN to help ensure the details are investigated at the appropriate levels.

The American Dream is strong, and grows stronger when the community speaks out against the tides of racism and ignorance, and demands justice be served for such a horrible crime. These were some of my thoughts.
Respectfully
Ravi Chaudhary

Dear Rajendra Ji,

Thanks for bringing this article to the site. Racism surely has played a part in it. If you have noticed that most these cases have taken place where the stores have been owned by our Sikh brothers. One reason, I could gather is because of appreance of our Sikh brothers. Many native americans can't distinguish between some one dressed up like OBL and a Sikh. Some times they even think that our Sikh brothers may be part of that organization. That not withstanding, the incident of robbery are more in those mid southern states as compared to other part of the country. One reason could be the lack of awareness of those involved.

This is a matter of shame in the civilized society. These kind of things some times create tension in the society and some time become first step towards civil war. It is the duty of the local police to bring the culprit to the justice. In these cases everybody will support you.You can go ruling party, opposition party, whichever you feel comfortable. If you meet somebody and he/she unable to support you. Keep in mind he/she can not be your well wisher.

As Ravi Inder has already asked help from Satveer Chaudhary. I would also request Satveer Chaudhary to take up the matter at his level.
