Dear all
I would request to all members to express their views on this topic.
To celebrate Valentine Day has been became a tradition in India from last few years. Basically it is not the part of our culture & many organisations also have been protesting of it's celebration at India but despite it many youth are too much interested to celebrate valentine day.
So put your views that do you consider it good in favour of our culture?

It is a pity that the Hindus get fascinated by other cultures whereas they have utterly failed to attract others to their way of life. When Muslims came some Hindus got converted to Islam (or were converted forcibly), when British came we started to imitate them. How many Englanders, who stayed in India for over 200 years, celebrate holi or diwali ? Their may be many advocates on this site favouring liberation etc in the name V. Day etc. We are hypocrites. When we ourselves indulge in the vagaries of V.Day, we appreciate it and advocate the practice, but how many of us will permit the girls from our family to go our girls of our family to do the same ? Double standards !

Aji pyar karane walo ko ek din to milta hain, na jane kitane dil is din ka wait karate hain saal bhar tak aur apni mohabbat ka izahaar karate hain ...................unka kuch to khyal kijiye

"Is veerane mein phool koi sajata hai baar baar
tujhko is mahfil mein koi bulata hai baar baar

Raat sota hai gum mera mere hi saath
Khwabon mein koi usko jagata hai baar baar

Jo kahna chahoon usko, woh kahne na deta,
na sun.na chahun jisko , woh sunata hai baar baar..

Tare asma mein nazar nahin atey kab se
Apne ghar ko is qadar, koi sajata hai baar baar

Ab to kamar kas hi loon uske ane se pahle
Woh tanha chhod ke mujhko jata hai baar baar ............ "

Bhai Ganesh, pyar ki itni mitti to mat pito. Pyar bahut gahari bhavna hai, aur Pyar kisi Valentine day ka mohtaj nahin hota. Valentine Day pyar ka ijhar nahin mahaj foohadpan (vulgarity) hai. V. Day kyon ? Heer-Ranjha diwas kyon nahi, Seeri-Farhad Diwas kyon Nahin, Savitri Diwas kyo nahin ? Yeh pyar ke diwane kisi Valentine Day pe nahin mile the. Pyar to har moment rahta hai. Kya agar aapko kisi se pyar ho gaya to V. Day ka intezaar karoge. V. Day aate-2 to dunia loot jayegi. Kya pyar karne ka tareeka angrejo ka hi aachha hai, jo manaya jaye? Are pyar to mhare tau-tai bhi karen sai, hum unh ki nakal kyon na karte. Ek majedar kissa sun :

Ek baar ek tai khatole pe leti thi, to ek choora aaya aur bola, "tai let rhi sai?" Tai nai laambi sans lee aur boli, "bhai ke letna sai, letna tai jab tha jab tera tau jeeve tha, eeb tai pad rhna sai". Hence, dears, tai ki us lambi saans main jo pyar sai us ke aage sare V. Day ke kar lenge.

Hence dears all, the V. Day is not the expression of love but the acceptance of suzerainty of our erstwhile masters, the Britishers, over our day-to-day life. Its celebration is a manifestation of suppleness of our characters not the strength of our love.

Yes sehrawatji I 100% agree with you. Pyar ko kisi bi expression ki jarurat nahi hai. Yeh to bina bataye bi fell kiya ja sakta hai. And v.day per jo pyar jatane ki bate hai wo sab pyar ke liye nahi hota hai yeh hum sab jante hai.
in reality Jab se yeh V.day aya hai pyar ka meaning hi badal gaya hai.
Costly Greeting dena, hotelo maie dating karna, Gumne jana, Gharwalo se Jhoot bol kar pure-pure din Farar rehna......... kya yehi pyar hot hai.

My dear RK,

Whatever the fact,Trend reversal is not possible as new generation takes these thoughts as outdated and trends are set by them always? But then overall moral standards have taken a beating for the worst and vulgarity has entered deep inside the mindset.TAU-TAI HAR KI KE KAM DURAGTTI HORI SE AAJKALL? EK WAQT THHA KE TAALLI TAI KE DHOONGGE PE RAHYA KARTI AR AAJKALL PHATT DE SI NE KEH DEIN SEIN..........BATHTHHI REH BOODHHIYA. SAMAY BALWAN HOTA HAI BHAI.

Correct Udai ji..And stretching it a bit further, Krishna loved Radha, but left her for good, married Rukmani and settled in Dwarika. To my best of knowledge, there was no other well known love couple among Hindus like they have Heer Ranjha, laila majnu and sree farhad among Muslims and Romio Juliot among Christians..Aur hamare bhagwan waise to swarg me to happily married hain magar jab dharti par awatra lete hain to unkee biwiyon ki halat kharab hi rahtee hai...Seeta was always in problem and Bhagwan Gautam Budh left his wife and child while they were both sleeping..

Valentine day has been more of a hype in recent years mainly for commercial reasons. Its a multi billion Dollor industry...So let us not bother...those who want to be part of Bhed Chal, let them blow up their money...Its their money, their time...why we bother so much...

Bhai Mukesh, abhi tak aap RSS ne recruit nahi kiye kya ?

Arre Bhai Mukesh, Indian culture ke hisab se toh everyone
should be wearing dhoti and kurta. I guess, judging by your picture
on this site, u don't take that aspect of our culture too seriously.

And let me tell u one more thing, when u get married and have kids, u'll
be the first to rush to get a birthday cake and candle and sing
"Happy Birthday To Youuuu, Dear Munnaaaaaa".

Bhai Mukesh, culture is not a stagnant thing. It evolves.

Anyway, one thing is for sure. Whether u like it or not, Hallmark
is making a tonne of money.

Thanks Sanjay.
First I am not going to change your views about whether you like it or not it is your choice. Just I wanted your views about it.
And second tell me that what is the relation between RSS and Valentine Day. valentine day manane and nahi manane maie RSS se kya relation hai.

and rehi baat dress ki to jab hamari bi dhoti kurta pehnne ki umar ayegi to pehan lenge. ...... culture is not the dress code while it is the ideology and way of life that we learn from our elders. So whatever we do today good and bad, next generation definitely will follow it.
..... Hamare culture maie bi bhut se festival hai lakin hum unko manane maie to itne enthusiastic nahi hote hai jabki western culture ko follow karne maie itne utwale nazar aa rehe hai. All these became a formality.
Every one is eager to celebrate v.day but hardly few among them know about its history.

Sehrawat Ji, yeh double standards bhi toh humne Goron se sikhe honge.
:D

Dear Sanjay, double standards kissi se sikhe nahin jate. Yeh to insaan apni kamjori chhipane ke liye khud he develop kar leta hai. It is not that gora is manifestation of everything bad or unacceptable. At least they have no double standards as far as discrimination on grounds of sex is concerned. They permit their daughters to go out and enjoy ? Do we ? We want to enjoy with the sisters/daughters of others but when somebody talks of our sisters, why our blood boils ? We want others' to be modern, come out and enjoy but want our sisters to remain sati savitri. This is what I call double standards and certainly we have not learnt this from Goras.

My dear RK bhai,

You are bang on target.........THIS IS CALLED HITTING THE NAIL IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAD.

MERI BEBBE MAA KI JAI
BAKKI CHHORI MERI LUGGAI

The above theme was preached and practiced always. ThIs they practiced on lathh ka jorr but to some extent old timers were right also in protecting our female folk even if it lead to their suppression as there had been inherent danger from people ruling the land to marry or exploit them forcibly and along with that went the supression also, as it couldn't have been possible in those times of autocratic rule to hide them and liberate them in one go.So in past ,circumstances also played their role towards suppression of woman but today if our woman at large are not allowed to liberate then above misconception is largly responsible.

Bhai Dev, duniya me paglon ki koi kamee nahi hai..aur premi log tu aur bhi pagal hote hain..Its not difficult to make money out of them..here are few marketing slogans which will benefit farmers immensely;

1. Celebrate this years Valentine with '' Ganne-de-poriyon de naal..They taste almost as sweeet as love''

2. ''Ranjha offered Sarson de phool to Heer, why not you to your sweet heart on this Valentine day?''

3. Celebrate this Valentine day amidest ''Sarson-de-khet'' ..no place as romantic on Earth..

I am sure creative minds will come with tons of such ideas which can be marketed and poor farmers also can have some share of this mad rush booty..

First, culture has no definitions. It's a way of life that keeps changing w.r.t time but with in some "guidelines".

Bandhu...if u were brought up in India...u must be knowing it by this time. And if you have forgotten, just ask ur parents!
