I am getting mails from some companies/consultant based in US to process H1B for me. Everyone is asking for some money some in form of Bank Guarantee and others as fee for H1B. I have 6 years of exp in Software Development. I need help whether giving money for processing is worth and what are the chances of getting job in software industry there. So I need advice from jat-landers what should I do? Hope I will get valuable advice from you.

Anil,

Based on the info you have provided here, it is difficult to answer your question. What kind of companies are these?? Normally, you shouldn't have to pay any H1B processing fee because most good companies (head hunters) get you the H1B and then take a certain % of your salary when they place you with a "real" employer. On the other hand, even a real employer can ask you to pay a part of the H1B costs. The employer is obligated to pay only the govt. fees; he may ask you to pay in full or chip in for the attorney costs.

If they are asking you for money upfront, chances are they would not be able to place you with a "real" employer.

Again, I think you need to be a tad more specific to get a more satisfactory answer to your query. Send me an email (kapoorsingh@yahoo.com); I might be able to clear your doubts.

Best wishes
