Dear Friends,

Foreign dignitaries often visit India but rarely visit villages. I was just imagining President Bush' forthcoming India visit and he addressing a Kisan rally in Rohtak. Imagine the scene with few lac Jats gathered and presenting him a hooka as gift...What better way can be to send Haryana hooka to white house? Is it really impossible to organise this side event? After all Clinton also visited Rathola village in Rajesthan...Why can't Bush visit Rohtak or Sisana? Any one who can lobby to get Bush in Rohtak/ Sisana?...LOL

I thought my idea did not interest anyone and it got buried into Jatland archives. ....Seems no one took it seriously. Now that our PM has been to Washington and we have signed many agreements, I think we should explore the possibility. As per an indication from our PM, President Bush will visit India during January 2006. My Gut feeling is that India will like to see him as chief guest during republic day parade just to send a very strong message across the whole world. India has signed an agriculture agreement also with US this time. May be as part of that we invite him to visit our farmers in action. May be we send our request to Haryana CM to lobby for President's visit. I know for security reasons this might be difficult, but one never know. It will give our fellows lots of media coverage all over the world..

Rohtak visit will really serve Haryana and even India well....This is a great idea and should be pursued.

Additionally,
The present government has planned a campaign to market Gurgaon as the "BPO Capital of the World"; since in most part, the US businesses are the ones driving the Business Process Outsourcing trends -- Gurgaon visit may be a good idea to pursue too! Maybe Bush would like to speak to the GE research engineers in Gurgaon!

Also,
Since US-India also signed agreement on agricultural research to produce high yielding crops with low irrigation needs: a visit to Hisar at Ch. Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University for a guest lecture would be most appropriate as well!

Haryana lobby in USA should become active and try to lobby for this side visit. Any visit to India can not be called complete if President Bush does not visit at least one village. I remeber, even President Jimi Carter visited some village. May be Haryana CM take up the matter with MEA and US Embassy well in time to ensure that President Bush visits Haryana Jat Village, preferably in Distt. Rohtak.. I wonder if we can reach State department or white house via emails to put forward this request?

I agree; people like Minnesota Senator Satveer Chaudhary, who is a proud Jat with roots in Haryana himself; and congressman Bobby Jindal, a strong Republican, should be tapped in the process!

bhai RK!

tera suggestion to welcome hai..but practical na deekhta...
even if bush agree to visit a village, it could be more or less of symbolic...american leader will not probably take chance to get expose to terror attack, which an open forum like rally in a village may provide...

but effort may be put to moblalize support for his visit to haryana at least...

No terrorist will dare to attempt any attack when rally is attended by mollahd Jats. Even symbolic 5 minutes address to rally will be a great opportunity for our community. Most Jat rallies have always been well organised and peaceful. However, if not a rally, even a more focussed visit will be useful where our farmers can meet him and gift him something very typical of our culture.
