Thank you Team Jersey for a wonderful afternoon and a homely moment away from home. Swami Shraddhanand ji of the Gurukul Kangri once said The jat Kaum is like a lump of pure Gur whichever side you taste it from and whenever - you will always find it sweet and so it was i did. So nice it was to gather so far from home and to discover that the unique strengths of the Kaum export so well and indeed take root and flower and fruit so wonderfully. Meeting the elders and the brothers and sisters was lie tasting salt when exhausted and thirsty but meeting the children was like tasting mishri thank you all for a very special day so far from home....

Col Tevatia, Sanjay Roperia, Sandeep Varma
and the rest of the team take a bow
my still americanising tongue says wow!
My heart says nothing but is touched
by an emotional flood
by the love and warmth
and the gathering of my blood

Dear Dahiya Ji,

Thanks a lot for your appreciation for the work done by the organizing committee of AJA NE Chapter. The success of the program was largely due to the community members who took time off from their busy schedule and drove from all over the East Coast of US and Canada. We were also fortunate to see some of the community members from India who are visiting their children and relatives here.

Your encouragement would motivate us to do even better next time. We have already started planning for the community function for the Diwali in November this year. Hopefully, we will have more members joing us at that time.

My personal thanks to the young members of the community specially students who drove from Maryland, Washington D.C. PA, CT and Boston area.
It is the support of the commumity that drives us to do our best.

My sincere thanks to entire community, to those who joined us and also to those who could not make it at this time. We lookforward for them joining us during Diwali Function.

Dear Friends, Children and Respected elders:
It was the first picnic we attended and were overwhelmed by the warmth of all those who were there and definitely missed those who were not there.
It is my feeling that more young people who either remained oblivious or could not attend due to various reasons can be made to explore the growing community links. Towards this end we have plans to identify students from our community in US universities (most univs have indian students association and we can dig out some names from there). Vinod has expressed a desire to make such meetings more attractive for students and professionals and we will try to provide our inputs and suggestions for implementation before the next meet.
Please let me admit: this was the first time in almost two years that the "foreignness" of this land was not felt by myself and this event will have a huge impact on how i feel for this country and our people in general who are trying to shape their destinies here.
I am expected to attend the next meet alongwith my brother Dr.Bharat Rattan MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences who is likely to attend the Univ of Massachusetts, Amherst this fall.
My apologies to those who felt that my pic at jatland does not fully capture me as i stand today: It was taken when i had just arrived from India and looks a little different because it was taken with winter gear, full grown hairs and at that time i had not attained a certain "roundness" of my features. I promise these corrections will be done and i will look more like my picture when we meet next.
I will send the pics i took at the picnic and please email me if i miss you at anmolratan@gmail.com

Dear All,
This is my first message to the forum. Last Saturday I happened to attend AJATA meeting in NJ and it was awesome experience. I wanted to thank the management comittee for the effort they took in arranging it. In future we would try to include more people in such meetings and spread awareness of presence of vibrant jat community in this area to wider spectrum of jat professionals(their absense was little conspicuous there).
We played volleyball for almost 4 hrs(my ankle is alright now) and then food was just awesome especially haluwa:-).... good luck!

Col Sahib, Sanjay, Sandeep et al,

I have a simple suggestion to promote interaction and proactive response to your initiatives in the comunity.
1.Please prepare a directory of all those who cared to attend the event.
2.The result will be enhanced connectivity in the year and better communication.
3. Email the directory to all those who attended
4. Only put those names on the directory who attend these functions.
5. Remove the names of those who do not attend an event for two consecutive events
6. Make a simple rule that the only way to get on the directory is to attend an event.

While it may seem ridiculously simplistic I am willing to bet it will double attendance at the next event provided of course that your team responds measurably in one week before the magic of the last interaction wears off.
