The Hindu Human Rights Group condemns the attack on innocent members of the public by suspected terrorists on Thursday 7 July 2005. While such an attack was expected by many, it still comes as a big shock to everyone and we commend the prompt response of the emergency services as well as the other volunteers who worked tirelessly to rescue the injured. Our thoughts and prayers go to the victims and their friends and families in what must be a very distressing time.

In connection with this, Hindu Human Rights encourages all Hindu temples, voluntary and welfare organisations to play their part in taking practical steps which would go some way in relieving the harrowing experience caused by terrorists in London on Thursday 7 July 2005. Hindu Human Rights asks all such Hindu organisations to begin collecting funds towards the purpose of providing help for victims and their families, which can then be put to good use. We understand that this will not bring back the lives of those taken by the bombings, nor heal the physical and mental scars which will now be suffered by those who were fortunate to survive. Nevertheless it is necessary that in the light of the tragedy, the Hindu community takes positive steps that will benefit all victims of the atrocity which took place in London.

Hindu Human Rights is also asking all Hindus to be vigilant due to the inevitable political fallout already happening following the attack which could lead to vandalism against Hindu property and mindless racist violence.

Finally, we would like to express our sympathies with all those families and individuals that have suffered in this tragedy

Hindu community had been subjected to unprecedented and unprovoked voilence since time immemorial by the Islamic Fundamentalists. But so are the other communities. Where these fundamentalists come from? Most of them are bred at the Madarsas run mostly by mosques. Similarly most fundamentalists from other religions and communities get their indoctrination from the religeous institutions. Whom shall we blame for spread of this fundamentalism. While most religions teach brotherhood, and peace then how come fundamentalism is breeding under religious institutions. Is it that over a period of time there has been degradation in quality of religeous teachers. Or our religeous teachers are not able to interpret the religion correctly. May be they no longer consider it to be public service and rather consider it as business which can only prosper in dividing the communities and spreading hatered against other communities and religions. What ever may be the case, the world need to focus its attention on the religious institutions and monitor their activities extremely closely. We need to ask the preachers of various religions more questions about their interpretation of the religion and their activities.
