Haryana CM, son discharged in dowry case

CHANDIGARH: A Panchkula court on Tuesday discharged Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and three members of his family in a dowry case filed by his estranged daughter-in-law.
Judicial magistrate Ajay Aggarwal held that prima facie the case registered last year against Hooda, his wife Asha, son Deepinder and sister-in-law Saroj does not stand and discharged all the four who were in present in the court on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister's estranged daughter-in-law Geeta Hooda Nee Grewal, daughter of a senior officer of the Haryana industries department, had alleged that Deepinder, Asha and Saroj had been pressing her to bring more dowry.
Geeta was married to Deepinder in September 2002. She had alleged that soon after her marriage she was threatened with dire consequences if she did not meet her in-laws' dowry demands
