Dear friends,

I came across this very interesting news item that talks of no panchayat posts to those who do not have toilet at home..

Looks like Indian lawmakers are turning extra imaginative lately.

I think that would be good for the community. We need to improve our sanitary system in the villages.

Rajnderji not hard to achieve. There were apprehensions about the legislation that says, people having more than two childern will not be able to contest Panchayat elections. That has been implemented .The proposed legislation for comulsory toilet for panchayat post aspirants can be impemented and it is more likely that their supportors will follow.
Low budget undrground toilets with some govt subsidy should be an achievable target.
This should be considered as atmost priority with drinking water in the rural areas.
Most of us are from rural backround and know that atleast for the sake of our women we should have toilets at home.
I remember Ch. Charan Singh when ever talked about rural development, he used to stess a lot on toilets in villages.
I hope other members will also support this view.
