To begin with, I am not a fanatic Jaat like the Nazis were fanatics coz it is Wrong to be a fanatic. A fanatic gives all importance to only one aspect of his existence.
Being a Jaat is not my complete existence but I Am a Jaat and it runs in my genes. It affects my nature, attitude and my outlook. It gives major inputs to my existence. Being a Jat has given me certain characteristics but the major aspect is 'How I use these characteristics in a constructive and positive way to pursue my goals.'
I wanted to share some Jat characteristics I have realised.
1. I have always been a sportsman, playing all sports (football, athletics, boxing, swimming...) Hard work (especially physical) comes naturally, so much so that I enjoy the fatigued muscles and sweat.
2. Jat stubborn ness - I think thats the factor which gives the 'never give up' attitude in a positive way. It is also associated with having an ego (in a positive way) coz it helps you stand by your principles.
3. Jats while reacting dont think about material loss or gain (like baniya, punjabi...). This keeps them away from diplomacy. Diplomacy usually isnt a Jat's cup of tea. It may give you some losses but at the same time it prevents you from behaving like spineless people.
4. Jats dont bother much about most things but when they do, they are irritable by nature. Confrontation is not the way to handle an irritated Jat, its better to wait for him to cool down. By an affectionate interaction you can make a Jat do wonders.
5. Jats have lot of latent energy in them which preferably should get a creative output.
6. Jats dont accept bosses. They usually dont accept superiority of some one. Thats why Jats never had kings. This is also the reason that in most Jat forums "who will be the boss" is a major controversial issue.
7. Jats usually have a loud high pitch voice.
Hmmm, I might have missed some.

Navin you have brought it out well and we all have these charactristics. Let us discuss them one by one keeping present times in mind.
1]It is wonderful to be physically fit. Importance of good health was no less ever in past and will not ever be in future and hence it is a GREAT attribute with JATS. God speed!
2]As regards to stubborn-ness is concernd, there is no doubt that it helps you keep your tail up [call principal] but in present times this attitude has become a biggest drawback of our people. We may keep it in required quantity but keeping truck load of it with us is proving disastrous.
3]I agree that Jats never had been great diplomats barring a few exceptions but incase you have to progress with this world then we ought to learn this art[rather master it] as soon as possible.let us fake it without making it a part and parcel of your soul but we must move with this world dear.
4]I know that jats can be best handled with patience and love but tell me who has the time at their disposal to allow jat to cool down.......Wo time ussne mille nahi arr wo shilla ho nahi. Thhandda kar ke khana seekhna padega je suhur tei jina se te....na te bhundde haal ho jyange bhai.
5]Who will channalize that latent energy in right direction......Punjabi,baniya aur sc/st alle te krein nahin....pher koon karega.......?? AAPPA MAREIN HARI DIKHEGGA BHAI.
6] We all have a boss on us...arr je koe ek aadha katiye fakeer/modda se te uske uppar bhagwan rhya. There is a famous saying and i quote," FIRST YOU HAVE TO BE A GOOD SUBORDINATE IN ORDER TO BECOME A GOOD LEADER/BOSS]." unquote.
7]Theek baat...mhari sab ki aawaz jaroorat se jyada unchee se.Bhai Ya dheemmee karni paddegi ar meethhee bi karni padeegi....ibb-bi hum sab kyahe nei padd-2 kha saan.
EK MERI TARAF SE: Ghanne kasutte EGOIST........KOOCHH BHI BARBAAD HOTTA HO BAAT PEI UDD GE TEI UDD GE. Manne iss ka illaz bhi nahin bera bhai....koe samjhao...ha..ha..ha.VERY NICE POST DEAR. KEEP IT UP!

Dev Bhai ego ka koi ilag koyna. Trust me I have been trying this in my village for last 35years with hardly any sucess at all. They are fine till I am there and in the morning i will get the news its the same no change. The biggest issue is we stick on baat thats all. I laugh to myself and still wish some day it will change. Trust me I have not given up on trying. You want to hear a good one on my last visit which was in feb. 2005 there was discussion over light bulb that lasted 2 hours now what do u say on that one. And thats why I say to all of you this is the time to educate our kids first to not have an ego as high as Mount everest. Chalo I am hoping one day we will learn and when that happens we will never look back.

Malik sir, thanks so much, i am working on some expeditions.
Dear Dev Sir,
While I agree that we have to channelise our energy to our advantage, we shouldnot do a volte face on our characteristics because our characteristics are our pehchaan/identity. If we give up our identity we give up our existence.
1. Diplomacy:- While we have to learn how to put things in a better way, we cannot and shouldnot become diplomats in a shrewd way like other castes, jo apne bhaai ke bhi nahin hote.
2. Channelising our energy and controlling our irritability is major issue.
3. Anger + ego = explosive? An angry man can never make a right decision. I tell myself 1000 times a day that whatever happens I will not lose my cool. A cool mind is a biggest asset. It has got me out of everthing. I will give an example "Long back while driving my accelarator wire and brake pedal overlapped, so braking was accelarating too. There was a steep turn ahead and at this speed we were going to go over. The other 2 guys jumped at the break pedal with all might. We (me too) had our entire blood in our heads, thinking of the consequence. My default mode is cool. I took a second off and it struck me, i put the veh in nuetral mode (automatic txn veh) and it screeched to a halt just inches short"
I discussed these points because I know some of these points are a strength while some can put us into trouble.
Loud voice is fine, if you choose right words it adds a charm to your personality.
People do respect you for holding your head up and talking straight.
If Jats learn to handle themselves better, they have enough in themselves to do wonders.
Last but not the least, we have to be proud of our culture. We shouldnot associate our language/culture with gawaarpan (something i see a lot of jats doing). If a texan in US is identified as a texan, a Jat in India should be identified as a Jat.

Navin bhai,
Ofcourse!! These are the characteristics of a real Jat. But, they should not be used as an 'escapist'.
'Sar' (Head) phodd ke 'police station' mein pahunch jaayein aur kahein 'I am a Jat', no way!!
We need to ponder!! Where these 'characteristics' takes us???
I am proud that I am a Jat. Hamaari behan-betti ko kisi ne galat nazar se dekh liya to jaroor meri 'characterisitics' kaam aayengee - but not in general life!!
Thanks for this nice thread,
Regards,
Shailendra

I doubt any jat is not proud to be a jat. Bhai Navin Texan and a jat is one and the same thing i lived in state of Texas for almost 10years they are great people the older ones still do deals on hand shake no contracts. We just need to keep our cool bhai thats all.

we should use the energy we have in a positive way and not for breaking some one's head.
a Jaat should be known for being a Jaat.
I shared these views for the very reason, that when we use them as a creative energy they can take us a long way and if we use them in destructive way they can land us in trouble.

Sumit Bhai I have been lucky to be close enough to home to get my quaterly supply og goond :)
Right from the time I joined REC Trichy I have always had goond with me .. now in Hyderabad also whenever someone comes I get goond .. ghewar..and recently I got suhhalis after a long time.. and I am loving it :)
And yes Navin u r right..we shuld be proud to be Jat the ways Texans are and shuld have a similar identity ..
it pains to see at tiimes that ppl have a very diff image about jats and their impression is almost always incorrect..
Its like some ppl spreading bad things about our community. They think Jats are bydefault violent.. uneducated.. uncultured and all such things..
But its good to see so many of our brothers and sisters making so much progress now a days.. we are not less than anyone else..
no one can even come close to the contribution of our community in the Armed services.
We are clear at heart and straight forward.. full of energy and guts.
We got o any extent to help our friends..
There are million other good things abt us and which we shuld be proud of :)

Kya baat hai aapne to gadar kar di.
Aapke shabd to 16 aane sach aur 100% khare hein Desi Ghee ki jaise!
Lekin humhe apni buraiyon aur kahmiyon mein shudar karte rehna chaiye.
But ur words r truly define Raw Jat.
Salutations to u, big bro!
Cheers,
Rock on,
Jit
